This place is very unsuspecting from the outside, it gets better upon entry! Very AWESOMELY local divey feel! People on both sides of the bar are very welcoming! Bands nightly starting at 10pm, which are just amazing! A definite stop for the people and a must stop for the bands/music!

Stumbled upon this gem after dinner. Cheap drinks. Plenty of options. Bartenders were phenomenal. Two pool tables. Outback seating. A intimate setting for sure. Definitely a historic pillar of the area. Live music @10pm everyday apparently. The only thing I can complain about is cigarette smokers hanging to close to the patio door. One guy was standing in the doorway smoking at one point smh. Filled the place up with smoke

I have come to this tavern 5 or 6 times but the most recent one was last week on Thursday.. I came and i had a little too much to drink and ended up leaving my car in there parking lot... I FELT sick and never came back until Sunday night. Surprisingly I found my car still intact and it wasn't booted So, thanks to the management and everyone who took the initiative to make sure I found my car WITH NO extra costs on my head THANKS AGAIN YOURS TRUELY appreciative customer

Really awesome experience! "Divided by 5": great blues, jazz, soul, R&B and more. The vocalist had an astonishing voice! She knew exactly how to project it. Musicians were all outstanding! The stage poured out talent in all directions!

Wow. What a gem. I hope this place will not be taken away like everything else around here. Very cozy authentic setup of an old bar. Very cool live performances. They have 10$ cover charges during special performances.

Found this place while visiting Atlanta. This is a hole in the wall type place. Get there early or you may have a hard time finding a parking spot. The live band's here are awesome! Full of talent! Patrons are friendly and down to earth. The drinks are reasonable too! After 11:30 if you get out of your chair, you may not get it back. No sweat since patrons are all friendly though. Bar staff is uber friendly as well! I highly recommend this place!

Divided by 5 was our entertainment for the night and they did not disappoint. Great energy and a awesome sound. Bartenders were great. Bathroom could use some updates. But for a dive bar in Atlanta it was perfect! We will be back

We went to Atlanta to visit a close friend and wanted to hear some blues so this was our first choice. This place has been here for many years and the live bands are always super good and entertaining! Don’t park on the street! There is a parking garage right there that we don’t know about and after we came out our back passenger window was smashed. Besides that we had a super fun evening. I recommend this place for some great live blues music. We will be back!

I was there less than an hour, at 10:30, parked 60 ft from the front door, in the parking lot, under a security light.. Some thug broke the back window of my car and stole the valuables out. They should have security inside and outside... I use to love the place, but won't be going back, to dangerous.

Oh Northside Tavern. Boy did I miss this place during COVID. The staff is great, the drinks are a great price. If you are looking for a place to relax, play some pool and have a great time, this is the place.

Great bar with great blues music and a friendly, neighborhood vibe. It's out of step with the towering concrete and glass buildings around it, and it's perfect.

Absolutely my favorite bar /music place in Atlanta. With live music everyday of the week! Yep everyday! If you want a nice place to drink, listen to great music and play pool. Look no further... this place is a classic staple of Atlanta and the culture. Some nights there is a cover because the quality and establishment just remember you get what you pay for! NORTHSIDE TAVERN is #sswirlappoved... huge shout out to Robert and Andrew for the hospitality and drinks you are a huge reason why you'll always have regulars. #one love #sswirlworld #bestbaratlanta

Amazing venue I felt safe in and met a lot of nice people! The drinks are perfect but we come for Young Step Mom every Tuesday. Clearly a venue that has an eye and ear for local talent.

It's a dive, and it's glorious. Great music, very eclectic clientele. Was there on a Saturday night, they had a guy with a food table in the back corner serving much needed noshes.

Northside tavern is one of the grimiest dive bars around, so if you don't think you can handle that, stay away. But if you *can* handle that, the atmosphere here is completely unique. There's amazing music 7 nights a week and a crowd of regulars that feels like a community. If you're a musician who's new in town, come to the Monday night jam session to network with other musicians.

Nice place. A little one to Grundy side though. Music is great. The only caveat is if you have a seat towards the center of the establishment, too many people stand in front of the band and you can't see the band. I like the music but I also like seeing the band while they play.

A great bar that appears to be just another dive bar in Atlanta until you step inside and learn the history. The soulful music that fills the building really brings the bar to life. The selection of beer and liqour is the usual spread for bars and priced just like the rest of Atlanta. The music is what makes the bar worth going to, make sure not to miss it.

What a fantastic place. I was fortunate to be there on a Sunday and saw Uncle Sugar, who play every Sunday. Friendly people, no draught beer and no food ( OK to order food in) amazing venue.

There's a reason this is in the top 10 dive bars of Atlanta. Great place to go for an inexpensive beer and 5 star service. This place was decently busy even on a Tuesday.

OMG! Didn't catch the lady's name that was singing but her voice is more than beautiful! I could listen all day. If you love blues style music this is the place to be!

Really nice atmosphere here and the bartenders were friendly. It’s busy in the weekends but they have live music and it’s a great time. Lines are long but it’s expected at a popular bar like this.

An old school spot where you can visit any day of the week and have a great time. Thursday, Friday, Saturday brings the crowds but I am partial to those Sunday or Wednesday nights that Northside amps up just a bit higher than you bargained for that turns into epic nights. Of all of the bars in Atlanta, this is the one I would fear to lose the most - it's a real treasure.

Went on a Monday which was open mic night, and all the performers were great. Primarily blues music. No cover charge and $6 beers, pretty chill relaxing spot.

Great atmosphere for late nights! Drinks were great and we enjoyed the vast variety of food of the menu. Food was great as well and we enjoyed the amazing live music!

When I think of a dive bar, this is what I picture. Seems out of place in it's surroundings, adding to it's charm. Reasonably priced drinks with fantastic live music nightly. Glad to have discovered it.

The music was good and I had fun hanging out with my friends and playing pool with my friend

I've been missing live blues ever since I moved from Austin, but this place helps fill the void. Great music every night of the week (I think, anyways), street parking, and cheap drinks. Best dive bar I've been to in Atlanta, and I can't wait to be a regular here!

The best music and rh3 beat people in town! The Jam with Lola and Stan on Monday nights is the best!

Went on Saturday night and a band Divided by 5 was on stage. I danced all night! Best PBR Bar around!

On the recommendation of a complete stranger in buckhead area of Atlanta, I ventured to Northside Tavern on a Saturday night. I immediately felt welcomed and really enjoyed the many New Orleans references. Northside Tavern offered a wide range of drinks, great music, friendly staff, and wonderful patrons. I don't know how old the place is, but it should seriously be on the GA historical register.

Checking out live Blues in Atlanta after moving here from Chicago. I’ll come back. The band was great and the vibe was good. Truly a dive. Great spot for blues.

Don't miss this smelly dive bar. Great live music every night. They currently don't serve food so you can order whatever you want delivered! They were busy on a Wednesday night.

Nice dive in a gentrified area of town. They have a stage and claim to have live Blues every night, but I was there day-drinking. The bartender and the patrons were very friendly. Full bar, reasonable prices.

  • 5/5 Nelio N. 1 year ago on Google
A small bar that's rich in blues music history. Was only in Atlanta for a few nights and it's great to know I can always find live music here. Will be sure to visit again when ever I'm in town!

  • 5/5 Ian B. 8 months ago on Google
Not a bad joint and I’m fearful for its continued existence with all of the development occurring around it. A refreshing dive bar with PBR tall boys among sanitized modernity. I’ve only been there once and while there was a mistake with my tab, it was taken care of swiftly and easily. Thanks!

  • 4/5 Bruce K. 11 months ago on Google
Dive bar of dive bars, they had a bouncer but I guess they're either not checking IDs because it's still daylight or because I don't look under 21. We'll go with the former. We went through a few dollars on the arcade machine, losing to Dig Dug and Burger Maker while sipping at the worst Red Stripe I have ever consumed. I'm not one to waste beer, but half of this was left behind. They're slinging beers and playing pool here. And the strangest thing, moving two of the gals were moving the vending machine from one side of the place to the other. What?

Hidden gem. Come in the day for an amazing hole in the wall atmosphere. Come at night for unreal live music. Hard win either way.

I wanted to be number 1000. This place deserves more than 1000 5 star reviews. Nothing like it anywhere. The owner really cares about the employees and the patrons are as loyal as they come. A real institution. Cheers Northside!

  • 5/5 Jarvis L. 1 year ago on Google
Northside is an institution. Live music every night, divvy atmosphere, great mix of people that come in. It's a great hang. Don't sleep on showing up early for pool and the jukebox.

  • 5/5 Robert S. 1 year ago on Google
Great live music, cheap drinks and a fun atmosphere carry on this Atlanta legend of an establishment. To be clear, this is a dive bar in the best sense of the term. I'll be back!

  • 5/5 Jasen C. 1 year ago on Google
It's hard to find a good blues bar these days, and this one is excellent. Dive bar feel with great live music and even better bartenders. Can't wait to go back!

  • 4/5 James T. 1 year ago on Google
First came here 40+ years ago, don't come as much anymore but always a great experience. Bring earplugs, music is always excellent but this time way too loud. Nothing has changed except now there are more TVs. As diverse a crowd as you will find, all getting along just fine. Come on (the rest of the world), join in!
