Off the beaten path. Great food and better service. Great atmosphere, not a lot noise. A local neighborhood bar with friends meeting up for a beer and game feel. They don't have the NFL Sunday ticket so you have to watch local network games. I'm going back!!! Had a conversation with some friends I made and they paid for my food and beer.

This place seems popular. Cool decorations and vibes. I went in on a Thursday night. Service was…kinda slow but boring. It’s giving tavern vibes but the food was a little flavorless. Lots of burger options. I got the chili burger but barely tasted any chili :/ but burger cooked to the correct temp. I’d recommend if you wanted a basic meal.

We decided to go across the street the other night while visiting someone at the Marcus Heart Center and have dinner at the Black Bear Tavern. The service and food was really good. The waitress did an amazing job and the tacos and salmon had great flavor. Lot's of TV's to watch sporting events and anything you would want to see Chicago based. This is your tavern to go to for Cubs, Bears and Blackhawks sports. I am sure a good time whenever they are on the TV. Give it a try if you are in the area.

Damn good wings size is also larger then the inky dinky ones you find at most pizza places. The food really stands out and comes across welcome to all. Only reason why no 5 star, the place is quite cramped

Jenny took great care of us. We went for late lunch and the drinks she crafted were top notch. The food was fresh and arrived to the table fast. She was the only person working the bar and tables at that time of day, and she was friendly and gracious. Having a professional running the place makes the difference. Kudos to the kitchen staff for getting our meals ready fast and accurately. We are looking forward to returning to the Black Bear Tavern! Highly recommended.

This place is great. It is the epitome of a neighborhood pub. There are some usual suspects that show up for lunch and then a different crowd at night - the locals. Every time I come in, I feel welcomed to be there. The bar staff is great, and the owner is a super nice guy. If you're wanting to try some authentic Chicago eats, this is a great place to stop by and get some comfort food. Protip: Don't pay to park out front. There is a full lot in the back that is free to park in.

Great casual spot for food and drinks open late. On the dive side with a Chicago theme. I came for dinner and was not disappointed: the wings were large (not like the tiny things at other places), the Awesome Burger lived up to its name, and the mac & cheese was solid. I ordered my burger medium and it came out exactly as asked. Portions were good and prices weren't bad either - especially for Atlanta. With the Braves in the World Series, there was no live music as the website said happens on Saturday nights, but that was a plus for me because that meant it wasn't super loud. Service was good, especially for only one person working the dining room. I'd come back for sure. Update: I came back. It's still good. Burger still awesome, if not really medium the second time. Get some Cajun seasoning on your fries, you won't regret it.

Second time being here. If you're looking for some excellent food near the hospital, you should go here! We got the nachos with chili and a Chicago dog. Best lunch we've had in a while. Bartender was great and we can't wait to go back.

I don't know the Bartender/Waitress/Manager name. She's always there with a warm sunny smile and even brighter disposition. The Woman is always smiling. I have been here several times and in some hard circumstances (Dealing with illnesses). But This Lady really helps you enjoy your moment in time when you are there. The food is always delicious . My only complaint is my food wasn't hot 🔥 this Time.

Little small tavern right smack dab in the center of a "strip mall". Plays all the oldies and food is great. They are still working on the decor on the inside but it's all good.

Ordered the Cajun Chicken Pasta and probably was the most bland dish I’ve ever tasted. No seasoning at all. Called to notify restaurant and they only suggested that I bring the entree back so they could sprinkle the Cajun Seasoning on. Being that I work in a high volume healthcare environment that was not an option. Disappointed

My friend and I only met up for a drink. Literally. Our waitress name was Jenny. She was very hospital, attentive and very helpful with the recommendations of drinks. May I also as she was very beautiful. We really enjoyed ourselves and tipped her nicely.

It’s been a while since I have been to Black Bear Tavern. To my surprise, EVERYTHING is still amazing. Black Bear still provides a casual very laid-back type of environment. This was perfect as my friends and I had a long week and just wanted to partake in great laughs with great food… Upon walking in, the bartender welcomed us and advised us to sit where we would like. All of the empty tables were clean which made me very happy. LoL! Once seated, our waitress came over and greeted each of us with a warm smile and a pleasant welcome. With a traditional American Bar menu setup, we didn’t require too much time to figure out what we wanted. I decided on the Southwestern Egg Rolls as my App and the Swiss and Bacon Burger as my Main! Hear Me When I Say…. Wowsersssssssssssssss!! The Southwestern Egg Rolls are packed with meat and veggies. These are not the kind of egg rolls you find in your grocer's freezer. Along with being a great portion, they were fried to golden perfection. Being set at the perfect temperature makes for a super enjoyable experience. Warm and perfectly cooked insides surrounded by Golden Fried Goodness put me in a place of tastebud-pleasing bliss. I want some more just thinking about them. LoL! The Bacon and Swiss is HUGEEEEEEEEEE… Just like I needed it to be. There is nothing like a Moist, Meaty, Well Done Burger on a Friday. Furthermore, the fresh lettuce, tomato, and pickles allow for a perfect first bite. I decided to pair my burger with Tater Tots (well done) and they literally melted in my mouth. I’m talking golden fried potatoes, lightly salted, still hot as I dipped them in the room temperature ketchup! This is how you Friday Night in the Atl. LoL! Overall, I left full, pleased with the service, and to top it all off… I had food for the next day. Oh yes… I had leftovers!!! LoL!!!

I’ve been to Black Bear Tavern a lot, and never knew how to properly write a review since there’s so much to say, but decided to give it a go. I was born and raised in the Midwest and lived in Chicago for 5-years, so can provide perspective on the offering. This is about as close as you’re going to get to a true midwestern bar. There’s no pretension, and all the bartenders I’ve experienced are super nice. The food is always very good with the tots being my preferred choice over the fries. The various ‘lite beer specials’ they have are great and much cheaper than the local competition. The bar itself has several regulars if you come here enough and I enjoy listening to the banter between them and the staff. I once came here rocking a Red Wings hoodie and they put the game on the tv I had the best view of without me asking. The dive bar vibes are also great and don’t feel manufactured. Come here for a taste of the Midwest whether you’re a transplant or a local. The pic is of a half eaten sandwich and tots, but I wanted to add some sort of picture. I stay here roughly 2-3 hours at a time when I visit so the bill is always in the $30-50 range because of my own doing not because things are expensive.

Great food and fast service! Fish sandwich was HUGE couldn't finish half. Mini corn dogs was a meal by itself! All the food came hot and quick! One waitress in the whole restaurant but couldn't tell, she was quick and amazing.

WOWOW what a burger! As a self-proclaimed burger enthusiast, I had what can only be described as the epitome of burger perfection! From the first bite to the last, this masterpiece left an indelible mark on my taste buds, setting a new standard for burger excellence!

Excellent tavern dive with late hours! Went there for a late dinner after a spur trip up to Atlanta and was not disappointed at all. Our wings were fried to absolute perfect, crispy all the way through dinner, and my Italian beef sandwich was delicious. Thrilled to find someone who carries proper Chicago-style hot giardiniera! Great beer selection as well! Excellent service too for the hour and one guy working the floor! No music tonight because of the Braves playing, but that's good by me.

The food is good when you eat there, but I can't recommend this place for takeout. The order always has something wrong with it to some degree or the other, and it always seems like worse quality. But, If you have time to enjoy the food there go on and go. Don't think you'll be disappointed. Burgers and wings are very good

Most of the food I’ve had has always pretty solid. The employees are always super sweet and helpful. The Bacon Mac and Cheese though, I feel like I think about it weekly. It’s ungodly. Update: I had a sub par experience and reached out about it and they were beyond accommodating. I also feel like my concern was heard and my confidence in them is unwavered. Thanks again to the amazing staff.

Go to this place to often due to it being so close but it’s very frustrating almost every time. If you have an hour lunch break, I would not recommend because food takes so long. There is only 1 bartender that is actually decent. To add to the frustration, be prepared to see the manager sitting, NOT helping.

My husband and I went in here yesterday to give it a try (doing the tourist thing). We were ignored for about five minutes and sat at a high top that was right by the entrance and decided we should probably find another table. (It was seat yourself). One of the employees promptly tells us we can't sit at the two tables available because they were reserved. We find another high top Infront of darts. We are sitting there for another five to ten minutes meanwhile another server ignores us and we still don't have menus or are offered drinks. Finally another server asks us to move if we aren't playing darts. We told her the other tables weren't available and she said we'll have to move back to the front high top and doesn't offer drinks or anything. She was quite rude about this too. We ended up leaving because we figured if that was going to be the experience we had within the first 15 minutes of being there then it isn't worth it. Shame on you guys being so rude and avoidant to customers. It's really inexcusable.

This was one of the first places I visited while in Atlanta. The food was so good I went twice. Food: The first time I came in I grabbed a steak sandwich with fries. It was good for a late night meal. They had a good menu but I love a good steak sandwich. Service: The service was cool and prompt. I didn't have any issues and the waitress was cool. The second time I came I had a good conversation with the waitress about the few days I was in town. Atmosphere: The atmosphere was cool. It wasn't any different than any bar I had been too. One night they had some live music and you can't go wrong with live music. Overall, it was a good vibe, down to earth staff, and good food. Definitely, a place I would visit again if I'm in town.

Out of all my visits to this establishment, my last one was by far the best. Jaclyn ensured our drinks were refreshed in a timely manner and our table was well maintained and clean. Even though she was extremely busy, it's impressive that she was the only server with only one bartender with a full house. They showed great communication between her and the bartender. Our experience from beginning to end was absolutely perfect.

There burgers are the BEST! When I opened the box the burger was PERFECT! It was tasty, fresh, light and delicious. The sweet potato fries tasted like they cut and fried them homemade minutes before I got there! If you want a burger in the Buckhead area THIS is the place to go.

We always get delivery - we’re kinda homebodies. We f-ing love this place. The food is consistently delicious. The produce is fresh. Whoever does the food ordering does a great job. Back of house is absolutely killing the game. Change nothing!

This place definitely cured out Bratwurst hunger. It’s open late, drinks are flowing and the people in there are rambunctious and ready to party on a Wednesday night ! We got wings to go and they’re a far stretch from “Jumbo” - those bad boys need some help. But it makes up for it by giving you 10 of them. I would say that 15$ is a little steep for some emaciated looking chickens. Bratwurst was a pleasant dish and they’re bacon Mac and cheese was better than some stand alone restaurants I’ve been to, I’d definitely come back.

It's almost like walking into an episode of Cheers!!! The staff is always friendly.I love it I took my mom here because she heard Paul Milligan was eating at this place one morning on Fox 5. So she calls me up super excited to come only to find out I have been eating here for years. So she thinks I'm the expert. Smh!! I do go to Black Bear Tavern for lunch everyday from Piedmont Atlanta Hospital. They have $8 lunch special that burger is huge, just a tip. This day, my mom had a Cajun Chicken Pasta since this was going to be her last day eating pasta her doctor's orders. That pasta is another one of my go-to's. I, of course, had my safety Caesar salad with a little Fried Chicken.Oh, the portion size is perfect each time and take some.

My Dad was in Piedmont Emergency room. The cafeteria was closed and I didn't know where to go. I asked Google and this place came up. It wasn't far from the hospital at all. I was able to walk over. Once inside. I fell in love instantly with all the big screens up. It was a college football Saturday and they had all the games up. I ordered the footlong with chili and fries to go. If it were not for the circumstances of my father being in the hospital, I could've really stayed there and chilled. The atmosphere was great, the staff friendly and very knowledgeable about sports. The footlong was on point. I will most definitely be back to this restaurant. Can't wait to see what it looks like on NFL game day!

Nice neighborhood bar. Food portions were a bit large and very greasy. Need to work on letting things drain a bit more before plating. Overall a nice vibe could be loud at times but felt safe and was clean. Staff was all great!

Across from Piedmont Hospital, small, comfy neighborhood bar. Serves a variety of great bar foods, claims to be best burger in the ATL. Two folks had burgers and were happily satisfied. Another had the Big Fish sandwich; fish extended well beyond the bun, whitefish fried to perfection with a spicy tartar sauce. I had the wedge salad, best I've had in years. It arrived deconstructed with loads of bacon, tomatoes, and blue cheese. So easy to then mix with my blue cheese salad dressing. Very fresh. Prices are reasonable. Great variety to choose from. Went on Sunday afternoon, not crowded. But, it for sure seems like a great, friendly, comfy, neighborhood watering hole with great food at great prices. Plan to return on next visit to town.

Black bear burger is classically delicious. I also highly recommend the southwest roll appetizer - give it a sec after it gets to the table, you'll want to demolish it, but you'll burn your tongue, trust me on this.

This place is a consistent 10/10 for their food! You may have to wait a few minutes but it's only because they'll cook it fresh! Burgers are the S**T but everything is good. Priced right and staff is cool 😎.

Went to Black Bear for the first time to try their burger week featured burger. Went at lunchtime and it was a pretty busy, but service was good. The burger had a lot of really intriguing toppings and I liked the burger was on a croissant, but the meat itself just didn’t have much seasoning or flavor.

Every time we come in they take such good care of us, especially Heidi! Black Bear has been a godsend during the COVIDs--I think I would have gone mad without them. I always enjoyed the Chicago Beef sandwich and I'm so pleased they put it on the menu full time. If you see the ribs on special, definitely order them because the rub they use is spectacular! Also it's one of the few places with a perfect Guinness pour 😁

I have never had a worse experience with a business of any kind. When I saw them listed for ATL Burger Week, I was excited to support them as a local small business (and as a business owner myself). I called ahead to see if I could get the burger to-go (for timing issues), but I understood when I was told this was not possible. To-go has never been allowed in the past for ATL Burger Week, but thought it might be different during a pandemic. I went to dine in and there were two other patrons in the restaurant, one with a mask hanging off his ear, one with no visible mask. The bartender/server also was not wearing a mask at any time I was in the restaurant. When I went to the restroom to wash my hands, I also noticed that the tables were not marked for social distancing. Not a big issue when the restaurant is empty, but there was nothing to keep another group from sitting at the table next to me. Again, it wasn't crowded, so this wasn't a major issue. What happened next blows me away. I knew that me and the owner (who I have met before) have a mutual friend, so I asked her for his number so I could give him a heads up about the Governor's Executive Orders regarding restaurants and they could be fixed before someone else noticed and reported them. I texted him with the information to help him owner-to-owner instead of reporting this to the Governor's office or writing a review. He proceeded to call me and yelled at me for 7 minutes about using his personal cell phone number. There are businesses on the brink of bankruptcy and some that have gone under because they are following the laws and trying to keep their patrons safe. Instead, he would rather focus on HOW I contacted him instead of WHY I contacted him. Timmy, I'm sorry I used your personal phone number, but I will not apologize for caring about my community. It is not too much to ask that your staff wear a mask while working handling food (gloves should be a given, regardless of a global pandemic). According to the owner, he was trying to do his best for his employees that have to feed their families. We all get that. Masks are not going to break the bank. Working together as a community helps us get past this, not yelling at the people who spend money and reach out to you personally to help.
