It was our first time here and were we blown away by our experience. Our server, Emma, was so sweet and attentive. Her recommendations for cocktails were so spot on. There were so many delicious options that we honestly found it hard to choose. My salmon was really well cooked and not too well done and the braised short rib was so tender. You can tell everything from the gravy until the desserts were fresh. This was my first time eating poutine and I can’t believe I was missing out for this long. If you’re looking for a more casual date night and you want good food with reasonable portion sizes, give this place a shot. This is definitely in my top 10 date night spots in ATL by far!

An amazing place to get brunch with quality prices. Food came out quick and piping hot. Their only downside was grits, too watery. Everything else was great, especially the fish and potatoes dish. Service was prompt and warm. The hostess somehow found an inside place for our table despite the busy Sunday brunch. Their biggest downside was drinks, did not impress.

Great service by our waiter Mason. The food was superb! Had the matzoh ball soup again. This time with pastrami sandwich. Oh my. Will get the chicken salad sandwich next time. The poutine was authentic.

What an amazing place. Old school deli with out of bounds flavors. Rolled with the hash and lights out with the perfect texture. Wife rolled with the General and you could rename it the five star General for sure. Eggs done right with the most delicious pastrami ever with an added bonus on the potato latkes. What a great breakfast and perfect way to start our days. If you are looking for some old school real deal deli classics this is your place.✌️😎

Just moved to SS and discovered this place! I have been here TWO days in a row I love it so much (and wanted to try lunch, then breakfast). I had the hearts of romaine and added pastrami-it was incredible. Pastrami is sliced thick and super tasty! We finished with cheesecake. The next morning I had the poached eggs and grits. Highly, highly recommend if you love savory but it's not too much food! My date had the smoked hash. The hash is a TON of food and I would recommend splitting it. Service was phenomenal both times. Our waiter, Esteban, was like my food guide and I cant wait to come back. My top recs are: any and all bread there (bagels, toasts), pastrami, the desserts. Try it all!

Prices have gone up tremendously from when I visited a while back, however the food was good, and was able to take some home for later, & the hot chocolate was right on time because it was cold out... delicious 😋

Stopped for bagels and schmear. Loved it. Super cute, great ambiance and perfect for a morning to-go snikity-snack. The appropriate amount of schmear to bagel ratio and the iced coffee was on point. I can’t wait to go back for a sit down brunch. Staff was friendly and kind. Highly recommend!!!

It’s been far too long since I last went to The General Muir, so I’m glad my wife and I went out for a date night. I love the vibe of the place as kind of an upscale delicatessen, but you’ve still got classic tunes playing over the speakers. As for the food, it’s absolutely delicious. I got the double stack burger and it was sublime. Easily one of the burgers in Atlanta. My wife got the pastrami and matzah ball soup and loved it. We’re definitely coming back and this time the wait won’t be so long.

My wife saw a review for The General Muir, and decided she'd like to check out out. We didn't have any particular expectations beyond a "decent sandwich shop," and were most happily surprised. Any time I see a house-special French Toast, I can't help trying it. The Pecan Crusted French Toast alone was worth the trip. A Cubano rounded my meal out perfectly. My wife, meanwhile, was very happy with her Fish & Potatoes, although you might want to order a side or two with that one. Their Bloody Mary, on the other hand, is remarkably generous, and delicious. We can't wait to come back, but REMEMBER: if you're coming by just for the food, ask to get your parking validated before you leave! "Two hours free with validation."

Reliably delicious. Great service. Often, I'm here on the weekends for brunch and about once a month for dinner. The espresso is consistently smooth and chocolatey. My family often asked me to bring drinks home for them. Brunch has a small but good selection. The smokey hash is hearty with tender little chunks of pastrami. Poached eggs have a diverse mixture of texture and flavors that my friends rave about. There's an unusual dish called fish and potatoes that is unexpectedly light and delicious. Dinner is even better. We often get the beef rib, which is tender and savory. The cocktails are nicely crafted and not just thrown together. Even simple dishes like fried chicken and spaghetti are really well put together here. The servers are friendly. And remember my preferences. It's one of the places I can depend on being great, when I refer a friend to go here.

I tried The General Muir for the first time today. It was just okay. The food wasn't as spectacular as I was told it would be. My pickle sampler only had one kind of pickle and green tomatoes, it's supposed to have two kinds. My turkey sandwich was good, but bland. My boyfriend's poutine was delicious, but he threw up about 20 min after eating it. I feel the entire menu is overpriced. And I don't think I'd dine in again based on the noise level. It was just so loud.

Upscale is an accurate description. I think this in line with “city” dining. We had a dinner here at around 5:30pm. The decor is great and the staff (all wearing masks) were outstanding. We had drinks, shared appetizers and desserts along with a salmon dinner, chicken dinners and sandwiches. The rice pudding I was really looking forward to was tasteless a disappointment. Our dinner (for 6) cost about $40 per person plus an automatic 20% tip. Restaurant also serves the traditional bagels and some nice sweets. Parking in the parking garage across the street will be validated by the restaurant...a nice touch.

I’ve heard of this place for quite awhile. First impressions are important. I showed up a bit early on a Sunday for food as they don’t open until 5PM. I was greeted & although I could not order, the bartender gave me water while I waited. I ordered the double stack burger. It was unbelievably fresh & full of flavor. The edges of the burger is crispy & tender Personally for me there was a lot of salt, the burger itself was still amazing. The fries are great & crispy. They also serve it with a pickle that they MUST pickle themselves because it taste freaking delicious! I would definitely come back.

Went there for the first time with my mom during lunch. Nice atmosphere, totally recommend especially for brunch and dinner. Our waiter was nice and professional. I ordered the pastrami sandwich and my mom got the Reuben sandwich so I got to try both. My husband always talks about how much he loves pastrami and this was my first time trying & now I’m addicted!! The meat was so tender and seasoned just enough. Great portions. The cheese danish was made fresh and delicious. Their mimosa was good and strong too :) The place is a bit pricey but you get what you pay for ! I’m definitely going back.

This place is amazing but price wise is just too much. I had a 28 dollar pastrami sandwich which don’t get me wrong was a lot of meat but add a coke to that and tip and it’s a 40 dollar lunch which is IMHO too much. Again nothing to say on design, ambiance, cleanliness, service and quality of the food but price wise is just too much..

Lovely experience. Lives up to its hype. We came in at 5 pm on sat Feb 5th and sat at the bar. Erin was our host, server and comedian. She was great. We had 2 sandwiches with covered fries and desert. Will recommend. Thanks

Get the Burger! Or the Latkes! Or if the have the Broccolini creamy soup if they have it as soup of the day. Seriously, I've never had a bad meal at The General Muir. I've always sat at the bar. Feels upscale but you can be casually dressed. The Burger is juicy and bread always tastes super fresh. Service is always top notch, professional. They also have a variety of coffees. Highly recommend a Cubano. Enjoy!

It’s hard for me to order anything other than the chicken salad (the best ever) but everything else I’ve tried is so fresh and flavorful. Great dining experience! Pictured below: chicken salad plate & pecan-crusted French toast

Tasteful breakfasts with amazing presentation and flavor. The lattes had beautiful foam and had rich flavor. Really enjoyed the creativity of the gravlax open faced bagel with salmon roe. All in all a great brunch place in an inviting atmosphere close to the Emory campus.

I honestly don’t want to ding this place, they make a great burger. I wish they would allow patrons the ability to avoid food waste and simple sell the burger a la carte. It makes no sense to insist on a side item if one doesn’t want that. Make it an option please. A simple deduced price point for the “sandwich” only is extremely reasonable.

Excellent sandwich shop that made for a very enjoyable lunch experience! Atmosphere and service were both comfortable and professional. Nice drink selection and the Reuben was as good if not better than what I've had in New York City. Stop by if you're around and would like a good sandwich

I had an appointment at Emory hospital and was literally so I decided to get breakfast. Very nice atmosphere and I will probably go here for lunch and a drink. My first order was not so good I had the egg with corned beef. The service wasn't that great either. Once I inform Sarah the manager she apologized and made everything right and I will be returning with friends

Brunch here is deliciously consistent and has been for years. The pastries and homemade pastrami are highlights of the menu. I also prefer their latkes over other Jewish Delis. I hear the black and white cookie here is the best in town. Dinner is wonderful, too.

Great place. I never knew Matzah Ball Soup could be so delicious. The Reuben is amazing and the spaghetti special is incredible. We've eaten here 6 or 7 times and never had a bad meal.

I love going out for breakfast more than any other meal. The General consistently provides us with the best breakfast experiences in the metro Atlanta area. And let's not forget the service, which has always been the equal of the food! Never a disappointment!

Oh my! You have to drop whatever you’re doing and go get a bagel and lox at The General Muir right now. IT IS SO GOOD. Would give it 10 stars if I could. The coffee was amazing, the atmosphere was great, the staff was super friendly. We got there around 10am and it was nice and almost empty, but definitely got a lot busier by like 11am. They have outdoor seating as well. Will definitely be coming back to try all the lunch/dinner options.

We came for dinner tonight and everything was delicious. The pastrami was peppery and tender, the matzah ball soup was perfect, and the cheesecake was awesome. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive and the rest of the staff was, as well. We'll definitely be back in the future.

Love the General Muir. The hours for the Decatur location are limited, but I love the pouting with housemade pastrami!

Brought a pile high pastrami on rye and a Ruben to go. Checked the Pastrami was not pile high so manager replaced it right away.. no problem. I Didn't checked the Ruben and I really feel I shouldn't have to. At a place like this. The person preparing the food should know better than to give anyone a 50% all fat sandwich. See pictures.

Food was good, but some of the stuff we got was a little disappointing for the price. E.g. loved the lox with cucumber, roe, and a schmear, but the bagel was just ok. LOVED the cinnamon roll though! Service was kind of meh (spilled water on our table and said nothing, set my coffee on my menu while I was trying to read it and walked away). But it seems like they’re kind of understaffed, so not the server’s fault.

An Emory staple, equally great for brunch and dinner. They don’t take brunch reservations, so be sure to arrive 20-30m early if you are eating between 11-1p on the weekend.

The General Muir is an amazing delicatessen! Everything I ordered was phenomenal. I started with some pommes frites, which were fried and seasoned to perfection. My friend and I split the Avenue A which combined grapefruit, lox, cream cheese, and avocado (pictured on the side due to my allergy) on a bagel. It sounds like a lot, but everything actually went really well together! As for sandwiches, I ordered the Reuben and my friend got a pastrami sandwich, which he said was excellent. That Reuben was easily the best Reuben I've ever had. Loaded up with corned beef, it was warm and cheesy, and I would not have asked for it any other way. I will definitely be coming back!

They do validate parking in the garage.. Good stop! I came in for breakfast. I got egg whites with pastrami and rye toast. Super fresh and super tasty! Coffee was also quite nice. Staff were all friendly and masked, and the restaurant seemed clean and well kept. Not a whole lot of options, but something I'd for sure try again!
