The food was great and we had a really nice time... until the end when we were presented with the bill and we were charged double! When we asked our waitress about it, she barely glanced at it then brought back a corrected bill with no apology ... it seemed as though she was disappointed she didn't get away with charging us extra... so she lost out on a good tip and I'm not sure I'll be returning. This would've been a 5 star review but that little experience put a bad taste in an otherwise great experience.

We love Gyu-Kaku and visit them in different cities. The Atlantic Station location is top notch! Very clean, we were seated immediately but they do take reservations if you want to ensure getting a table and all servers still wore their masks & gloves. Food is always tasty, pricing is very reasonable for what you get and this location even has frozen sangria.

Sukiyaki Bibimbap w/ Beef is a must have dish that is affordable and delicious! If you want a quick bite make sure you go to the bar because regular seating consists of a personal grill for their Japanese BBQ specialties. Great for a family dinner!

Literally the worst restaurant Iā€™ve ever been to. Waited 20 mins for someone to greet me and seat me. Then when we say it took 30 mins to bring the salad/sides. Our meat came out and the stove wasnā€™t working so they had to take our meat back for us to move to another table. The food came and it wasnā€™t that tasty the only good option was the soy steak. Our bill came and they didnā€™t take anything off it it for the inconvenience or anything g. Iā€™m highly disappointed

Fun experience for a date night! Cooking your own food is cool. The pacing between dishes felt a little slow (especially considering there is a time limit on all you can eat orders), but our server was lovely. (Also, we ordered food to go and accidentally forgot the bag at our table. Upon returning, we were told the food had been thrown out by a bus boy and could not be replaced. šŸ«¤ Our mistake, but still frustrating.)

My first time visiting and eating here and I really enjoyed myself. My date and I only waited about 10 minutes to be seated and our sever quickly came over to answer questions. The drinks we had were okay, nothing special. We weren't able to eat the salad since the dressing had a weird taste. But the meats we selected and the side of vegetables were great. I love how the sever explained how long to cook each meat and constantly checked on us. Overall, we had a great night and will be back again.

Let me first start by saying this place is overall above average, but still definitely overpriced. We went in expecting the AYCE option, but were told that they only do that Mon-Thurs unfortunately. We still wanted to try it anyway. When we got there, the first hostess told us they were cleaning our table and that it would only be 15 minutes or so. Fast forward 40 minutes and we were still waiting for a table. A second hostess told us it would be another 10 minutes or so. To pass the time, we decided to get drinks at the bar. The bar staff was okay - one was friendly but the other wasn't so nice. We were finally seated at our table and it took another while for our server to come greet us. She was super nice and cheery and brought us everything we needed, though I wouldn't say the service was quick or outstanding to say the least. Definitely plan to be here for at least an hour - they take a while to bring out your food and come by. The lady who was bussing tables was also super friendly and funny. However she did take our plates early (before we even had a chance to use them) as well as our waters before we finished, but I think she was just trying to do a good job clearing tables. Our server replaced them upon our request and was very kind. Overall, the food was good and it came out very hot which was reassuring. It just took a long time to get everything so we stayed there for probably at least 1.5 - 2 hours. Not bad, but probably won't return given the service from everyone else and the pricing for the small portions.

First time visitor and wow was is good. I really liked how they donā€™t overwhelm you with the smokey smell of cooking meat. Their vent system makes the awesome food even better and you donā€™t leave smelling like barbecued meat. They have many options to choose from so take it slow and ask for recommendations as the servers really know what they are doing. I was luckily and my dinner partner had been to many locations and knew exactly what to focus on.

This was my first time at a Japanese BBQ restaurant. They had to give me a full explanation of the menu and tips on cooking the food. That being said, don't let you having to cook your own food stop you from coming to this place. The staff was attentive and the food spectacular. Start out small and work your way up, or go for an all you can eat extravaganza. The dumplings were out of this world, so if you are in the area, make the stop. It's definitely worth it

So delicious. Lots of gluten free options! There was quite a long wait; we got there at 6:45 and they said the soonest table was 9:10pm. But itā€™s understandable; after the fact we realized it was probably mostly reservations. The bistro hangar steak was SUBLIME. I also got the spicy bibimbap, and it was really good.

Personal at front desk provided very good instructions on getting here, my server seemed to be a little on the new side It's taking a little bit longer with the service. Spicy addicting cucumbers fire spicy garlic rice is amazing, Beyond bibimbop, cheese corn butter got to try it. 20 minutes into the meal still haven't got my meat, the crispy bacon is very crispy flavorful the calamari the calamari I don't need to say no only try it 30 minutes into the meal still waiting on the meat I have my side. I do want to get a 2-hour experience so after like 5 more minutes i asked for the meat it and my waiter went to the back and finally came back with everything and it was amazing my waiter there was on the slow side but the host at the front Trayvon was amazing he filled in a lot of places that my waiter was a little flustered on. I would say that they definitely need to change the music. wait was a little long on a meat but will return back.

Pretty good quality meat. They didnā€™t serve all you can eat while I was there. So if that is what you looking for, better call ahead.

I have to say that the service is the poorest I have seen among all the BBQ restaurants. The waiter just ignored our request for 20 minutes, and the person is just gone. We didnā€™t receive any apologies thereby. Does it mean that I can just go? What are these guys doing and why are we offering tips for wasting our time in such a busy weekend? Please notice that itā€™s a self serving BBQ unlike others in Duluth. The waiter neither grilled the food for us nor answering our request. Why there arenā€™t enough people doing their job and why we have to wait every time even if we have made reservations in advance. Think twice before being here. There are better places other than this one.

Great food and customer service, no problems on this visit with friends. Price varies based on what you want. They have small individual appetizer size items for as low as $6. I got a bowl of miso soup $6, (6)wings $15, bowl of rice with chicken $12, and a $12 vodka lemonade.

On a Saturday night between 8 and 9:30 p.m., I visited this restaurant. The service was fantastic since Zulu was an excellent host and Josh was an excellent server. I ordered two drinks: a Virgin Cocomo and a refillable Ginger Ale. We had the Meat Lover's BBQ for our main meals, which included the Gyu Kaku Salad as an appetizer. I've never liked miso soup, so I asked that it not be delivered to the table. The white rice, gyu-sushi, edamame, and Japanese chicken karaage were all incredibly good, with everything being beautifully cooked and nicely seasoned. The Umakara Ribeye, Yaki-Shabu Beef (Miso), New York Strip (Garlic), Toro Beef (Sweet Soy Tare), Premium Sirloin (Sweet Soy Tare), and Bistro Hanger Steak (Miso) were all delicious, flavorful, and juicy. Finally, we had the s'mores and matcha ice cream, which were both delicious, with the matcha ice cream tasting fresh & authentic. Two months later, I returned to same establishment. While my hosts, Nancy and Hunter, were fantastic, and my initial seating arrangement was a little dissatisfying, the staff was able to accommodate me, which was very appreciated. My server Andrew, who was fresh out of training, did an excellent job of demonstrating the fantastic customer service improvements. This included his honesty, sincerity, and taking into account mine and my companions' sensitivities. Hirsto was quite helpful while Andrew was unavailable, making sure he collected our plates, refilled our drinks, and cleaned our grill. The only two new items I ordered were the table-side bulgogi fried rice, which was incredibly well seasoned and tasty, but the portioning could have been better. Finally, there was the matcha mochi which was fresh & exceptional.

This place is suppose to be a fair price, student friendly gathering friendly place back in locations in asiaā€¦ but pricing jump up a lot after they come to US Food quality is good but nothing really stand out. Definitely recommend for people not familiar with Asian style BBQ restaurantsā€¦. Prepare to know a bit cooking

Delicious!! Ordered the meat lover combo and it was more than enough to feed 2 people. Highly recommend upgrading the white rice to beef bibibamp. Must say the marinated meats were all on the salty side but itā€™s a common issue for Japanese bbq. Other than that the food was awesome! Our server (American born Japanese sorry forgot his name) was super friendly.

I got the meat lovers special with a few upgrades. Ended up buying some extra dishes like noodles and cheese corn. The noodles were bitter, but everything else was nice.

Wonderful food. Service is slow but friendly. The place is frigid. Horrible insulation or no HVAC ā€” something. I had to wear a coat, a hat and gloves AT THE TABLE. So insane. Iā€™ll be going back in the spring, though. Love the food.

I love this place.i have been coming to this chain ever since I use to live in NY. Iā€™m glad they opened one in Atlanta. I came here and a random Saturday and I was at the bar with Austin and Rich who were my bartenders and they made my experience a good time than what it usually is. They were attentive and made sure me and my friend have everything we need. They also made sure our food came out in a timely manner. Come check them out here at Atlantic station.

Our waiter Allan was awesome. It was our first time here. He was very patient and explained everything thoroughly. He made sure our drinks were refilled without asking, kept the food flowing, and was very attentive to our table. The food was delicious. I loved the way the corn and calamari were cooked! All of the meat was delicious and well seasoned. I will definitely be back again!

I have eaten that Gyu-kaku several times, and I have never had a bad meal here. All of the beef dishes are marinated perfectly, and there is a large selection to choose from. Large selection of meats, large selection of sides and appetizers, and they offer different promotions and specials throughout the year, which is exciting. I ate here for lunch today, and service was excellent. I also liked that they have a rewards program on their app where you can qualify for discounts and different dishes as you collect points from dining there. It has a laid-back and casual atmosphere, perfect for hanging out with friends or a casual date. The price point is great too.

TL;DR: Food and atmosphere were good, service not as much. Price for value of certain options are questionable, but this was my first time so I'm willing to give it another chance to earn more stars in the future. Made a reservation for three, about five days in advance to celebrate my graduation. Atmosphere: Low light ambiance, tables not crowded together, clean bathrooms, good size tables for small parties (didn't pay attention to the big tables). The nicest thing about this place was the smokeless grills. They have a fan underneath the grill that draws the smoke out and downwards which not only keeps the smoke out of your way from seeing and talking to your friends, but also makes the experience much quieter and relaxing than what I've experienced with the overhead exhaust systems you find at most Korean BBQ spots in town. How it works: We did the AYCE option last night. There is a 90 minute time limit from the moment they serve you your first meat dish. I forgot exactly how long after you start that they call last call. Anything left over at the end of the meal will be charged a la carte. If you do not like a certain dish, you can send it back before last call and it will not be charged to your bill. There are three options for AYCE, price per person: Premium($48), Ultimate($58), and Supreme($68) Each option includes all of the items from the cheaper option(s) Food: ~ Premium Menu ($48) The Miso Soup was a good side portion that helped refresh my stomach between rounds. Flavor was great and vegetables weren't cheap tasting. The New York Steak had good flavor. The Kalbi Chuck Rib was very tender. ~ Ultimate Menu ($58) The Filet Mignon and the Gyu Sushi weren't as tender as I had hoped. The Harami Skirt Steak was pretty tender and had a great marinade. The beef tongue was almost like beef brisket. ~ Supreme menu ($68) The quality of certain premium meats were satisfactory. My favorite was the prime kalbi short rib(limited to one round per person) and the duck breast. I personally think that these are the only two items that make the Supreme option worth it. The Fried Calamari was nice and crispy with a flavorful sauce and a lemon wedge for a little citric taste. In my opinion, the only difference between the prime short rib from this menu and the chuck rib from the Premium menu is that the prime is much thicker where as the chuck was almost as thin as beef brisket. As far as the flavor and tenderness, they were pretty similar. Service: We had one main waiter along with two others running food for our table. One of them was average but friendly, one of them seemed as though he would have rather been anywhere else, and our main waiter was very courteous. The manager also made time to visit our table to get our feedback on what was good and what they could improve on. They will tell you how long to cook each meat on each side. This is not accurate. Especially for the beef tongue. It is sliced very thin and will cook thoroughly in 10-15 seconds on each side. If you follow their instructions on 30-45 seconds on each side, it will burn/overcook. My advice, go with someone who knows how to cook their meat or ask the waiter to cook it for you. It took a long time for us to get our orders. We were concerned mainly because we had a time limit, but I believe our main waiter was very lax with that rule because of the wait time. It was not that busy at all and he even commented on how it had been pretty slow that evening so I don't know why it took so long to get our orders. When we brought up the wait, he told us that for some reason that he wasn't sure of, the kitchen staff was passing over his tables and serving other tables first. I don't blame him at all for this, but that is not an acceptable answer. I appreciate him for giving us more time to eat given the circumstances, but unfortunately the only difference between going out to eat and cooking at home for me is the service, so it is the most significant part of my reviews and the kitchen staff hurt that. Otherwise I would have given four stars overall.

My favorite Japanese restaurant! The drinks are always on point and photo ready. But the food is what you go for! You canā€™t go wrong with anything you chose.

Man OH......MAN!!!! Gyu-Kaku was a wonderful experience! The fried chicken was tasty, the spicy beef ramen was delicious, the miso soup was better than most I've had, and the overall grilling experience was awesome! The only.......only aspect about Gyu-Kaku that I did not like was their choice of dipping sauces. While I understand that the meat are marinated in some type of sauce, having a side of salt and sesame oil or peanut sauce would have made the experience even better! They have a list of sauces on their menu, but I found them to be a bit limiting.

I donā€™t normally leave a negative review, but this is so far the worst, the most pathetic dining experience weā€™ve ever had. Our reservation was at 7:30 pm, and the place was not even packed. I donā€™t know why it took around 10-15 minutes for a server to get us some water. No greetings, no anything, thatā€™s okay. Then apparently the team took another 50 minutes to just bring some RAW MEAT on the table. Iā€™d love to give that 20% default tip for group of 6 and above, but first I would love to experience some kind of service that was absent this evening. Food was okay, typical GyuKaku quality.

  • 4/5 Jonathan L. 2 years ago on Google
It was a busy not so busy night. They had tables but only had 2 servers. Had to wait longer than told, I was expecting that it would, no worries there. Our server was a work horse but he can only juggle so many tables. So getting his attention was a little hard but I understand. This place could be so much better. Plus, the price is STEEP. Though the food was good, I canā€™t see myself coming back with those prices.
