I've been going here for about 6 years now. I would definitely say that it's a hidden gem worth visiting. It is pet friendly. You may spot a deer. There's a beautiful creek, boardwalk and sometimea berries. There is often dogs not on leashes. Due to gentrification more people are visiting this area. Unfortunately, caucasians there seem uncomfortable or off put by seeing other black people there. I pay them no attention and just enjoy the vibe ✌🏾💓

Nicely hidden in plain sight. Lots of different ways to go to keep this one interesting. Very dog friendly. Be aware of that on the beach for the few that don’t pick up after theirs. Not a huge issue though, most everyone is very good about it.

This place is located almost in residential area. Parking lot is small but its usually not that crowded. Initially trails starts from a dry area over the mountain but soon you’ll enter the adventures kind of a trail surrounding swamps. It’s bit thrilling and exciting too. It’s dense and people get their dogs along but you have to watch your steps and be careful while you cross swamps. Its a very long trail and you would be facing half swamps and half dry trails here.

Honestly the place is actually super cool...i loved it. The only problem i was almost everyone there with a dog doesnt leash them. My dogs are super friendly, but not when I have them on a leash and a dog runs up on us then they become protective. So the whole time I was on guard making sure they didn't become aggressive towards another dog. And I actually ended up kind of getting in a verbal altercation with a gentleman there because his dog came running up on us and my female dog was not very happy about that and he made it seem like it was my fault and my dogs are on a leash. So basically if you do go here be prepared for that other than that the place is great.

Good place for a hike, not huge, but depending on how long you're there, a few times through several connecting trails will give you a nice workout. Lots of foliage. Nice stream with a suspension bridge for pictures.

Around 2.5 miles of hiking trail in the city is the most appealing feature of this place. Short and accessible. A small stream runs down this area for you to sit besides, dogs to play. A lot of trees had fallen down and bridges were damaged due to the recent storm when I visited. You can easily spot a lot of birds. It's a good place to take your picnic blanket and just relax. The parking area is uneven. There are limited spaces (15 or so).

Came in at around 8.15 for a morning walk and the weather was 53 degrees and pretty sunny. There were some flying bugs surrounding muddy areas on the trail. I'd avoid it if it recently rained as the trail was very muddy despite not having rained for 2 days. Overall a great morning work out, definitely got the blood flowing.

We had a great time at this park we discovered. We came down from the north to visit family and had to kill some time. Our dogs would absolutely love playing in the creek. Great place to get some "fun in the sun". Be careful, there was broken glass on the beach head unfortunately. We picked up as much as we could. The bridge was really cool as well.

It's a nice walk, that's for sure. The trail is beautiful, especially the wildflowers. Of course, the best part is the creek for dogs! The sand is great, when there isn't trash or glass in it. Dogs have to be on Leashes until the creek, but a lot of dogs have disobedient owners and let them roam (guilty hand raised at times). The biggest and dumbest thing about this place: Only one trash can, and that's at the parking lot. So, doggie bags are left at places other than the trash cans, but at least poop is picked up. There is a set of trails to experience after the creek that are beautiful, too.

A hidden gem! Very pet friendly! My dog & I really enjoyed our time out here, & I love that it’s close to the city but still some good ol’ fresh air! I did notice quite a bit of unleashed dogs... Almost every other person I came into contact with had their dogs off the leash. All of the interactions were friendly, but still... You just never know. A few dogs ran up on my dog & me out of nowhere, & I was like WHOA! The trail also confused me at times, but it was my first time & I’m not an experienced hiker. LOL, thank God for the AllTrails app! Otherwise, it was a great time & a nice spot.

An "okay" trail with boardwalks in need of repair. If you're coming for the creek/dog beach, be prepared to walk a bit to get there.

Lovely trail. It’s fairly short, but can be longer depending on how many times you choose to circle around. Just a warning, but there are a LOT of dogs off leash. I understand around the creek area, but not on the narrow trails. Was charged at by a dog & I am by no means afraid of dogs, but being charged at by a barking 50-60lb dog that I do not know is scary. Really frightened me at the time. I’m sure the dog was very sweet, but I would have appreciated it more if the dog was on leash on the trail and off leash once at the creek with an open space. I love dogs, but I cannot trust every dog, especially off leash. Not the dogs fault at all. Other than that, all the dogs are very cute when they are playing in the water :’)

Is a great encounter with nature without living/driving out the city (in my case Midtown/Morningside area Atlanta). Is a very forestry site to go walking/hiking. It is beautiful and easy to walk and follow the path. It wasn't busy when I went around 7pm, most people I saw went with their dog(s) everyone had their dogs leashed. If you have a dog it's a great place for you to take them since there is a nice dog beach (see pictures) I rode my bicycle to go there, which very easy using google maps' cycling option that even chooses the most flat routes. I live close to Piedmont Park Monroe Dr. Gate, about 15 minutes ea. way to/from Morningside Nature Preserve. I left my bicycle in the bike rack located in the limited parking lot (if you drive there and no parking available, I guess you can park in the neighborhood side streets.

The people here need to leash their dogs or someone needs to enforce it. Last time I came, a huge dog came charging at me and my sister while barking aggressively. Other than that, I do like the trails here. It’s a pretty short walk, but it’s quite naturey and shaded so it feels nice in the summertime.

Beautiful nature area with many different paths and sights. I most definitely recommend if you like long adventures away from modern day overstimulation. Just be careful at night cause it’s easy to get lost! 🌲

Great local trail in need of some maintenance. Unpaved and secluded with a nice suspension bridge and beach access to the river. If bringing a small dog, be prepared to carry them up and down a few metal grate stairs about halfway to the river :). Recently, several areas along the trail have become overgrown with tall grasses and weeds. A bit past the bridge there’s a walkway out and the trail becomes hard to follow and impassable. In its current condition, it’s probably best to do an out and back to the river instead of the full loop.

This was our first visit and it has such great potential. The path was very flooded due to recent weather. In general the path and bridges are not well maintained. But the dog beach is wonderful! And it is a natural oasis in the city.

Love this spot overall. Great spot to walk and let doggies swim. BUT it literally says no "off leash dogs" during the walking trail. (swimming spot is fine). But people still let their dogs roam freely...so I guess the spot is perfect except the guests.

I love walking with Mocha! I just recently seen some workers that are making NEW renovation with the paths! Building new bridges, and cutting down trees whenever a storm happens! Would love to see a MAP/MURAL with a trail for the new people! Maybe some seating areas (benches) and some "BLUE Lights" for emergency, sense they are so many trails that veer off the paths! Trash cans can also be a good thing too! It's a huge area! You can easily get lost! I'm not going to lie there is are bunch of "nomads" in the area and maybe that's why they are keeping it just a trail and not a park!

Have loved this trail since discovering it around 2 years ago and visit as often as I can. They just renovated the big wooden staircase and suspension bridge planks, so it feels brand new! It's such a refreshing walk and I track a little over 2 miles traveled if going from the parking lot on Lenox Rd and back. I also appreciate the dog friendliness on this trail. Many owners are like-minded and have well trained dogs that play well together on the beach, while also being mindful of others on the trail. Owning a hunting breed, the squirrels and chipmunk, and deer keep my dog well pleased and I can get my exercise in too! The reason i'm only giving 4 stars is due to changes in my recent experiences. I'm very excited that this hidden gem is growing more popular; it's well-deserved. However, I'm now having rather uncomfortable run-ins with other visitors that make me feel less safe. I've found that going too early or too late (apparently even 6/7 pm fits this criteria) increases my chance of uncomfortable encounters with suspicious persons on the less-traveled portions of the trail. I still love this trail, but am hoping it remains a safe space for everyone!

Mostly reiterating what everyone else here is saying. The trails (in particular the bridges) are in disrepair. A lot of rules in the park are being broken. Dogs off of leashes. Decent amount of trash/broken glass. Signs of homeless encampments. Would be a lot nicer if the park was better taken care of and the rules were enforced. Otherwise, it's a cool diversion ITP

The “Stairway to Heaven” steps are now wood planks and much more dog friendly. They used to be metal grates which required me to carry my 65-lb pup down and up! Only about 8 parking spaces, so you may want to time your visit on the early side. Well-maintained trails. And of course the unofficial dog beach is lovely!

Super beautiful place, but the dog beach is quite the hike to get there. Theres a long stair case leading down once up the one part of the trail. The steps are like grates and could be spooky for some dogs (i know mine was i had to carry him down and up). Once down the steps there is a path made of wood, it starts out okay but as you go deeper the wood has rotted and it falling apart and can be dangerous to walk on. Some parts of it is just destroyed and very wobbly to walk on. Mostly shaded but some parts like the dog beach are not shaded at all and is very hot under the sun, the beach its self is more of a river but is very shallow and stretches quite far, lots of off leashed dogs here though especially in this area. If you go across the big bridge you come across a lot of fallen trees and another small but unsteady bridge. Very cute path from what i walked but dangerous on the way back.
