Love discovering Atlanta! We found this amazing hidden treasure called the Lake Claire Community Land Trust. The residents of the neighborhood pitched in to purchase land in the middle of all their homes and converted it into a gorgeous hidden oasis. It is self-sustaining: rain barrels, produce, flowers, community compost, meditation areas, a playground, and a freakin Emu named Big Lou that loves grapes. He lives next to a turtle pond. What a gem!!! We'll definitely be coming here again!

Have been going to this lovely place for about 15 years or more. Very nice and kind people. There is sand by the stage which is perfect for dancing barefoot. They have their own gardens and and EMU I think it's name is Harry. There is a sweat lodge and a cool kids play area including a big swing under a gorgeous tree. We always go to the Jerry Jam and other events thru the year. Please be respectful of the land trust and you will be respected as well. Come bring the whole family and enjoy great live music from time to time. They have drum circles I believe used to be the 1st and 3rd Saturday every month which is awesome! They do not charge to get in but they do accept donations which we and our friends gladly pay because you can't have that much fun anywhere else and such a relaxing atmosphere. The Jerry Jam which is Jerry Garcia's birthday party every year is a special kind of event every year. Last year was amazing and was filled with so many awesome people. They had a tribute to Prince also that day. I am putting some pics up I took last year. Please remember no serious sloppy drunks there are children and families folks. They sell food, art, and beer at the venue for cheap so your not supposed to BYOB. I may be wrong I hope this place remains as awesome as it has been for many many years! All donations do go into the land trust and are obvious (you can tell by the grounds and aura of the place) you will have a blast and they close strictly at 11. 11 means 11. There are houses all around and neighbors so please be respectful of that rule. 11 not 11:10. Thanks for all the many years Land Trust for all the great times!!!! Also they can be contacted about volunteering to help at events etc... I helped a beautiful girl there that was so nice water their bad ass garden which is grown for the nice kind people of the community. See you all soon!!!! Much love and have a Grateful Day!!!!!!! PS I have to dig for the pics so until next time here are some cool pics you can screenshot and used as backgrounds on those darn phones. The Land Trust has been a cornerstone of Atlanta for me since I began exploring Atlanta in 2002. They help the community and people can volunteer work in their garden and the community. They gotta big bird called "Big Lou" Lou's cool. If you visit say hi to him. He's been around since I've been going there. They hold drum circles on the 1st Sat of the month. That is subject to change so check the website. Beautiful place with good folk here.

A lovely community place with a sandy playground, a tree swing, vegetable garden, a bathroom, pomegranate trees, an amphitheatre, and a few short walking paths. Well ran, well managed, welcoming place.

I have frequently driven by the big adorandak chairs on DeKalb Ave and wondered why they were there. So today we investigated and found this great hidden gem! A super quiet neighborhood garden with a pond, a swing, a stage, those big adorandaks overlooking the city, and an Emu. This is a great place for a quiet walk, an afternoon picnic, or to let your (leashed) dogs walk on something besides pavement. Be sure to say hi to the friendly Emu (who's name, I learned, is Big Lou) and consider leaving a few dollars for his food or upkeep of the land trust.

Lake Claire CLT is an oasis of calm in Atlanta. Great for small groups and kids. They organize garden work days and drum circles regularly.

Sweat lodge has been my main connection to this place. They also have drum circles on certain Saturday nights, and musical gatherings/jams that takes place at their amphitheater. Community garden spaces. Healing vibrations. Welcoming community, but also private residence area -so keep your drama, alcohol etc out of this really nice gem of a place right in the middle of the city.

Great spot โ€”great musicโ€”but there is a lot of weed smoking which detracts from the family friendly atmosphere.

So fun my friends and I had a picnic there and we had a blast! But nothing on Earth could touch the emus and the goats.

Has an emu! Like the animal! At the park! You can feed it! It has a friend who is a duck. The duck's name is aiden, I think. My friend claims that the duck is mean and bad. I have no idea how valid this claim is. Maybe all ducks act kind of mean and this duck is not an outlier. Maybe my friend somehow made aiden mad and therefore mean.

Such a great oasis. I love bringing visitors here to show them the variety Atlanta has to offer. Big Lou the emu is always a treat.

We are so fortunate that the Lake Claire Community allows us to visit their land trust! It is such a cool spot with lots of little nooks and crannies to explore. Great for kids or for a quick nature getaway. By the pond, they have a sign with venmo information. Donate if you can!

The most beautiful place hidden away right in the middle busy city. I felt immediate peace as soon as my feet touched the lands entrance. I absolutely love this place
