Now
that
the
previous
contemptible
and
inept
manager
has
been
appropriately
ousted,
this
Kroger
location
has
the
potential
to
achieve
respectably
noteworthy
improvements.
Achieving
such
a
goal
will
take
a
steadfast
commitment
from
the
new
manager
and
the
entire
store
staff.
One
of
my
peeves
with
this
Kroger
store
is
the
way
its
bakery
department
plays
fast
and
loose
with
product
expiration
dates.
At
least
one
baked
good,
a
brand
of
high-quality
cupcakes,
has
had
its
recommended
shelf
life
improperly
prolonged
with
the
use
of
creatively
extended
expiration
dates.
The
price/expiration
date
sticker
shown
on
the
attached
picture
was
placed
there
by
a
Saddlebrook
Kroger
bakery
employee.
I
snapped
the
picture
on
April
21.
According
to
the
manufacturer,
their
cupcake
products
have
a
shelf-life
of
5
days,
regardless
of
whether
the
product
is
refrigerated
or
displayed
on
the
store
shelf.
The
expiration
date
sticker
reads
May
14,
2022.
I
do
not
know
when
the
product
was
first
placed
on
the
shelf,
but
I
do
know
that
the
23-day
shelf
life
afforded
the
baked
good
is
over
two
weeks
beyond
the
recommended
shelf
life.
It
defies
comprehension
how
an
error
this
egregiously
evident
could
have
possibly
taken
place.
Chalk
it
up
to
gross
negligence
or
deliberate
deception.
This
has
happened
before
at
the
bakery
department
of
this
Kroger
store.
Back
in
October
of
2021,
the
same
type
of
product
remained
in
the
refrigerated
display
case
for
over
a
month.
New
expiration
dates
stickers
were
placed
over
old,
expired
dates
and
the
products
continued
to
be
sold
to
the
public
well
beyond
the
time
that
all
expired
packages
should
have
been
taken
off
the
shelf
and
discarded.
I
would
not
presume
to
instruct
Kroger
on
the
proper
way
to
apply
disciplinary
action
for
such
a
stunt
as
this
but
since
the
same
infraction
has
occurred
in
the
past,
swift
and
stinging
repercussions
are
in
order.
