The park is nice but BEWARE of THIEVES. We were there for about an hour and a half and when we came back, we saw that our car got broken into. They broke the car window and stole our belongings (money, banking cards, ID, packages etc...) from the car. We noticed there was more glass on the ground all over the parking lot as well, so other cars got targeted. There are no cameras or any way to find out who did it. We enjoyed the park but getting back to our car damaged and belongings stolen took all the fun away.

Absolutely loved the views while hiking. Loved to see people jumping into the water. Everything gorgeous. Will definitely visit again! Wasnt crowded at all when I went. Easy parking. Restrooms available and also life jackets!

I did hike starting from Chattahoochee River Recreation Centre though a paved path initially later joining West Palisades trail. Its a nice hike but would recommend East Palisades any day. It's a easy walk and not hilly but you end up doing around 5 miles round trip. You also hit a nice beach type shore to spend some time and hang out. I recommend it for lazy walk !!

Palisades West Trail was nice to go for a two hour walk. I accessed the trail by car from Akers Mills Rd. The trail winds down to the Chattahoochee river and the trail was well marked. Along the river there are sections where you have to climb up or down over boulders because of the elevator change but it was not too difficult. A part of the section along the river you have to step on rocks that are in the water to continue on the trail so wear good hiking boots to protect your feet. Also, I like a good hiking stick while walking.

This place is stupendous. A fresh aroma of plants, countless birds, vivid views, absolutely one of my most favorite places on this planet. Very clean and well kept, abundant convenient parking, the main trail in shades of trees for its entire distance. The pictures have been snapped along the trail.

Hiked here with my friend and it was great once we got started. It took us half an hour to find where it actually was located - coordinates led us to an apartment complex... but we figured it out. I am happy to share the correct coordinates if you are thinking about trying it out! Trails are great! I’d say beginner to moderate as there are some hefty hills.

Call it the red headed step child of the east palisades trail. We enjoyed our hike but felt there was a little more to enjoy than offered on this trail. We didn’t get to hike the entire trail and plan to be back soon to hopefully update the star rating. Either way it’s a great place to get out on a quick hike and still be in atlanta. Make sure to have five dollars $5 to park as it is required.

A great place to hike with the dogs along the river. Lots of parking, bathrooms on the trail, and less traffic than the other side of the river. There are a couple variations of loops that are well marked at all intersections and some have decent elevation change for the area. Paid parking but this is a national recreation area and an America the Beautiful pass is valid.

I came to this trail 👣 for the first time and I love it, lots of trees and not a lot of people (on a Monday afternoon), great views of Chattahoochee River. About and hour and 40 minutes / 4 miles. It needs a bit more maintenance, but in good shape.

Decent trail, nothing special. Minimal viewing of the river. Saw a bunch of broken glass in the parking lot, potentially cars getting broken into. I prefer Palisades East.

Don't leave anything in your car! Thieves will break your window. More broken glass in parking lot than gravel. Disappointing!

Palisades West Trail is part of ChattahoocheeRiver National Recreational Area and is practically extension of Rottenwood Trail along the river then up the hills with loops. It is a beautiful trail and relatively easy to hike. In the falls the colors are beautiful.

Great hiking trails. There are flat gravel paths and hilly trails. Nice views of the river.

The trail is awesome. It is quite strenuous and there is no clear pathway so a bit risky. The cool thing is there are life jackets in between the trail.would suggest to wear them while doing the trail in case you slip in water. The scenery is beautiful.

My buddy live in the apartments near this and I'm so glad we went here for a walk. It's so peaceful and they have a several of hiking trails if you're in to hiking.

Picking up where Rottonwood Creek Trail ends, this nature trail just goes in one big loop. But you get some nice views of the Chattahoochee River on the lower part of the trail and can branch off to the quite scenic Akers Mill Trail.

The name is Palisades West Trail but it should say dangerous hike! The pictures online show the beautiful waterfall, bamboo forest and bridge. What they don’t show is the rocky hiking trail and only experienced hikers should attempt.

Mainly trails but some roads, restrooms closed, some leftover trash (floats), close to the river, paths have quite a bit of erosion in spots. Flat along river, hilly in connecting sections for a good workout. Saw several deer

May be a moderate hike for some people. Small trails and steep slopes. Overall great spot. Be cautious of where you step in the water, it has alot of drops.

Getting out of the covid isolation/hibernation and going to this place was the best idea for us. Not too crowded and with enough shaded areas for a picnic. The river was shallow and slow enough for kids to float along. Suggestion for anyone that wants to try this park....check dam water release schedule before heading over.

Bob Callahan Trail parking was our starting point and then we headed south until we hit the river. It was roughly a 4 mile walk there and back. Great for bikes but hilly for runners.

A really nice park, can take the trail down to the Chattahoochee River. And there are some other trails around. It's different experience than Florida that's pretty much flat

Ive been on many trails i consider better but with this trail just inside the perimeter, the location couldnt be more convenient. Once you're down by the river toward the east side of tye trail, you'll forget you're in a city. No road noise there. West side is also along the river but also along cumberland parkway and leads to a park area. Center is a more elevated area in the trees. Lots of inclines there but the terrain is mild. East end, the deeper you go the more difficult it gets till it becomes impassable (at this point you are off the marked trail) and along the way there are some nice rock face scenery across the wide rocky river and even a couple of hidden sandy beaches. 4 stars because it can get a bit crowded at times and i cant bring my truck on the trail to drop kayaks even though itd be a perfect place for it (probably bc of foot traffic) overall, good trail. I walk it more than any other cause its in walking distance from me

I love it & so does my doggie. I think I'm addicted, we walk it everyday & I always take time on each walk and stop to let Riley play in the river, he loves fetching sticks in the water, looking for squirrels on the long nature trails & saying "Hi" to all the other doggies as we pass by them :)

👍👍 This park is enclosed with a kid-proof gate and fencing. It has an area for older kids and toddlers. The older area is shaded so that the equipment doesn't get as hot in the summer. They have slides and a small rock climbing area and toddler swings.

👍👍 This trail is really nice. The parking is $5 for the day and $40 for the year. There is both wide gravel paths for biking, walking, and running as well as wooded paths just for hiking and wooded paths for mixed use. There are beautiful creeks, the river, and a nice pond. I enjoyed my time there....
