The normal gravel walking trail is very popular and a little to busy for me. They have a couple of trails in the woods that are awesome. We really enjoyed walking the mountain bike trail. We also like biking in the mtb trail it's well maintained.

Great place for a hike along the Chattahoochee River. The main trail is extremely flat and very wide. There are offshoot trails that tank you to some fun and exciting routes. Other parts of the backside of the trail can get a little narrow but not too bad. This trail connects with another lot for other trails too.

Fairly flat 5k loop. So recommend. Partially shaded along the chattahoochee and partially not. Also this trail connects to acres mill road trail/sidewalk. Which connects to Cumberland area. Itโ€™s a great location. Also thereโ€™s a secret coffee shop (chattahoochee coffee company )near by. You can walk to for a good exercise and view.

Great place for running and walking. Long, wide, and well-maintained trails along the Chattahoochee River. My first run was an easy 8-mile run from Cochran Shoals Unit - Interstate North (Eugene Gunby Rd) to Johnson Ferry (along Columns Dr SE) and back. It starts as a packed gravel trail and runs into another parking lot (Cochran Shoals Unit - Columns) and becomes road. There is also access to other trails (Cochran Shoals Trail and Sope Creek Trail from points along this route. There are well-maintained restrooms and water fountains at the parking lots at both ends.

Great place to put a kayak in and to jog through trails. Wish the bathrooms were open though!

Ran a 5k here and I absolutely love the scenery. Itโ€™s a nice cool, shaded trail running beside the Chattanooga river.

This review is strictly from a mountain biking perspective... the place is nice and you can tell that there has been a lot of effort put into building this trail, but I personally didnโ€™t enjoy it as much due to the abundance of rocks and roots along the trail. The great part about it though is that it is mostly in the shade.

Nice gravel trial for walking, and easy mountain bike rides, good opportunity to see deer and other animals, half is covered by tree and the other half is open to the sky, there are some mountain bike trails in the park, Soap Creek trail is a nice mountain bike trail to ride.

Super busy place on the weekend. Scenary is amazing and enough people that it feels very safe for a woman to jog alone. Pee before you go or pee in the woods because the bathroom was totally destroyed and unusable with feces in the floor and in filling both of the toilets in the ladies room. Other than that, the park is amazing.

Some of the smaller trails that go to the neighborhoods are poorly maintained, but the trails that are well walked are well maintained. Most of the area is rocky and not very comfortable to walk or run on, but very nice to see some nice nature areas with many people taking advantage of them. They even have bike rentals if you want a leisurely stroll around the river.

Great spot to access wide trails and cool nature views! Parking is usually not much an issue, but it can get busy if the weather is nice. There are parking fees, which is $5 for the day, or you can purchase the annual pass, which I believe is about $40, so if you plan to come more than a few times, I think it's worth it.

This is a very popular place to hike walk run and bike. The parking lot fills up quickly on the weekends.

Great place to run walk hike or have a picnic with your family. The only thing is there's a good bit of dust that gets picked up when you're running or biking. The dust will make your new shoes look old real fast, but the ground is softer, which makes for less impact on your knees.

Beautiful hike that is flat and easy. Parking costs $5 but is easy to find.

Both ends of Cochran Shoals are just phenomenal and the trail itself is amazing and flat and perfect for riders and walkers of all shapes and sizes. What makes the Interstate entrance so interesting is just how quickly you go from car-dependant infrastructure to suddenly quiet, calm riverside walk. It gives you a sense of nature and humans.

A part of Chattahoochee River National Recreational Area with easy access from I-285 and relatively large parking lot. The main trail goes along Chattahoochee river to the parking lot at other end at Columns Drive. This trail is flat with no ups or down easy to walk, run, or bike-ride on it. You can rent a bike at entrance. Along the trail there are few overlook spots from which you can view the river. There are other side trails that are not so flat. Some with surrounding swamps.

This our favorite nearby trail to walk our dog! The flat gravel paths are very wide along the river so there's plenty of room for runners, walkers, and bikers to get by each other. Half of the trail is through the woods so there is a lot of tree coverage and shade. During the week parking isn't too bad but on weekend, anticipate it being hard to find a spot. There is another lot across the bridge. Parking is $5 (pay on an app) or you can purchase a yearly pass for $40 (better value you if you come at least once a month). There are restrooms right next to the parking lot at the start of the trail as well as doggy bag stations throughout the trail. Do your part and clean up after your dogs! If you do a "full" loop on the main gravel path, it is a little over 3 miles. This trail also connects to Bob Callan Trail if take the paved path under the bridge as well as bike trails in the woods. There are many look out "docks" along the river with benches to admire the Chattahooche for turtle and duck watching.

A great place to take a leisurely walk or ride a bike. Very flat. Several places to sit along the trail if you wish. Very wide trail so you have space and arenโ€™t elbow to elbow with folks. Nice bathroom facilities and usually ample parking.

Parking can be tight, but this place a very well maintained 5k path that is clearly marked with plenty of room to pass. You will see the occasional deer and beaver and numerous other types of wildlife along the river

This is my Sunday trail for walk and run and it never bores me. The path is best suited for running which gives an extra spring to the step without hurting your joints. I take a detour across the forest and itโ€™s a hilly terrain far from crowds. Lots of bikes and people with pets.

Great views of the Chattahoochee River and wildlife. Wide gravel trail that works well for bikes, walkers, and runners. Plenty of benches and places to stop. Dog friendly. Some highway noise and start of trail but still very peaceful area to visit.

Beautiful views of the river from easy to walk/bike gravel dust trails. Very busy, so expect a lot of people. $5 to park with public parking lots on either end. The east side of the main 1.5 mi loop is well shaded, but the west side is exposed with no views of the river, so for the most comfortable and scenic version, consider an out and back route following the east side of the loop.

  • 5/5 Jay S. 4 years ago on Google
One of my favorite running trails. Well groomed and accessable to any age or ability group. For those in wheelchairs, the river side of the trail is long and flat with packed gravel. Very common to see families with small children out for a stroll all the way up to competitive runners training. The trail follows along the Chattahoochee river before looping back through the forest with some rolling hills. Lovely year round.
