This was a beautiful trail system. I live close by so I walked there with my dog, but there was ample space for parking if I had chosen to drive. The trail is part of the National Parks System, so it is a pay area ($5.00, free for people with permanent disabilities and they give you a decal to place on your dashboard upon payment). The Allenbrook House is at the main entrance of the park. I didn't go inside, I'm not sure if you actually can. But it belonged to a couple who owned an Ivy Mill during the Civil War and now belongs to the parks department. There are different options as to which trails you can take along your way, some more difficult than others, but overall it it was a great hike; not too long or strenuous. I was led to believe according to the maps along the trail that there was a bridge connecting me to the way out, but I was mistaken, as it was the bridge of the roadway above, so one would have to essentially turn around and hike their way back to their vehicle. *I only took my dog's leash off for the photo.

Great little hike, BUT DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING OF VALUE IN SIGHT IN YOUR VEHICLE.

**CAR BREAK-INS** It was a nice spot for hiking, but when I returned to the parking lot 3 out of 6 cars got their window smashed in. 2 of the cars had nothing in them and the other had some outdoor gear, but it didn't get stolen. So, nobody lost anything except a window. There are safer parks to go to and I know I definitely won't be going back.

Hiking here was really fun. The map is super useful and easy to follow, posted at important points in the trail. One of the paths did follow a course that went through some rocks and cliffs above Big Creek—meaning you needed to be pretty careful and choose-your-own-walkway to get across. It wasn’t very high up from the creek but definitely high enough to do damage. I’m pretty sure you can completely avoid that by taking a different route, but word to the wise! It was fun though. That was the only part that did not have a dedicated dirt path. Also, like other reviews say, not much parking.

Very easy to access trail, there is some elevation but generally manageable. This is an excellent day hike. There are rocks along the river and plenty of spots to stop and relax. The waterfall is gorgeous. I would highly recommend an afternoon here followed by a picnic along the river or in the park.

This is my first spot on this River, I went there as the images posted had stairs. But once i went to this place there are no stairs and not even proper directions. The place looked really shady, and it got worse when i saw the sign "Don't leave anything in the car" board. Any way we tried to walk down the grass towards the building, then we got to the cliff where you have to do little bit of trekking to reach river, it was fun as it is a small trek. I could not find any rocks to sit and relax, you can relax on the sand by the way even though it was not super clean. But I thing about this is you will find a water pipe across the river where you can cross to the other side of the river, which was cool.

Absolutely beautiful this time of year. The Mountain Laurel are in full bloom and the rich yellow Butterweed are flowering along the trails.

Nice short hike. It's a great view of the cliff and river. Not too many people atound.

Love the random awesome cliff and the creekside views but they could really do with trimming the foliage along the path every once in a while. The tick risk can get pretty significant but the views from both above and below the rockface are gorgeous. If you're lucky, you'll encounter the occasional climber rappelling up the craggy wall of stone.

Nice little park with the closest outdoor rock climbing to Atlanta

  • 3/5 Jackie P. 5 years ago on Google
Very small walking area, but if you are doing rock repelling I guess this is a good spot to go. Not designed for any distance. $5 to park as well.

Some paths can be iffy... The trails arent always well defined and makes you wonder if it's an actual trail or not...

Amazing gem right in Roswell's back yard. Hiking, climbing, rappelling, fishing, and all within a few min of downtown Roswell.

A great local hike. You can bring your kids and your dog. Walk along the river and explore the waterfall. Parking is difficult but if you can't find parking at the Mill, park at riverside park.

Their scan and pay parking system has been compromised. My card shows a payment of 5 dollars processed in NM for the parking and another charge of 60 in NM. Today I was charged twice for two different amazon purchases.

Fun place to go check out the small cliff and trails through the woods to the river.

  • 5/5 Ellyn K. 4 years ago on Google
Nice paved path outside. The employees knew history about all the animals there and explained why they couldn't be released back into the wild. Beautiful flowers. Cute gift shop. Great stuff downstairs to do when the weather doesn't permit going outside. Make sure to check when they are doing presentations inside too, you get to get up close to an animal and learn about it. Great for homeschooling kids!

Beautiful hike and easy walk ... Loved it

  • 5/5 Olivia T. 4 years ago on Google
We loved this hike! There's not much parking here and the location can be difficult to get on and out of but that means it's also not as busy as the Mill (that's less than a mile from here). We will definitely explore this trail again!
