The trails at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield’s Park are Absolutely lovely Woodlands with clearly marked trails and beautiful natural preservation. Those who live near here are extremely lucky to have such a wonderful hike and bike area. Fabulous vistas from the top of the hillsides too.

Park at the end of a long winding driveway with a gated entrance. It’s $5 to park to support the National Park Service. It’s well worth it to just go ahead and get the annual pass. This place is that good! Once you find it, you’ll definitely be back. Gates close for the parking lot at 8pm according to the sign at the entrance. Your dog will love all the interesting sniffs. On Friday morning there were a few people, but not too many. The trail is not paved and mostly flat, though there can be a few hills depending on which path you choose. There are a series of forks that you can make into different length loops. We saw a horseback rider (wow my dog thought that was a BIG dog - not sure she has ever seen a horse before). If you aren’t sure how your dog will react, give treats as they pass or distract as much as possible to avoid startling the horse. I saw a deer but don’t think that my dog noticed it. In the evenings there are lots of deer grazing in the fields here. Enjoy!

Chatham Hill Trail is a part of Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, but it is on the lower more flat part of the park. It has its own free parking lot. The trail passes by the Illinois State Monument which is not far from the parking lot. It is a beautiful easy trail to walk and mostly shaded.

Really easy to navigate. Quiet and peaceful. I had at least 4 deer sightings within the first few minutes of my hike. Parts of the trail were kind of steep, other parts were flat and wide. If you had a jogging stroller, you could probably do a good portion of the trail. Looking forward to exploring more!

I’ve been coming to this trail since 2017. I still love that it has multiple paths to walk and places to explore, a statue, a place to sit and reflect, small creek, and you will sight a lot of deer. However, I dislike that they now charge for parking and how popular this trail has become during and post COVID. Also, the dog feces in the pathway can be frustrating and impedes on your jogging/running experience. Watch where you step! Otherwise this place is a gem.

Love it here. Very peaceful but you can still hear planes and cars occasionally. Still the most peaceful place in Cobb County.

Got a reactive dog in need of walks? Bring them here! The historic integrity part of the Park Service's mandate means that you won't have as many dog owners letting their dogs off leash so they can rush all up on your dog. The historic earthworks wouldn't survive with off leash dogs running all over them and there are trail cameras the PS monitor. It is seriously peaceful and generally most people will smile but not encroach on your dog's space. Great place for beginning to train a reactive dog, must be because there is a dog park close for all the dogs that can handle that.

Great trail with a few options when it comes to hiking distance. The Five Mile trial had a few small elevations.

I give this place a 1 star because me and my friend were minding our business when two different people came up to us and were harassing us and yelling at us just because we were riding bikes, and yelling saying there were signs and there were no signs what so ever for 3 miles and I asked people on trail if they saw signs and they said that there have been no signs. We were completely respecting people and moving Over, also getting off our bikes being respectful to people. Another thing is there are bike races and people biking all the time. Also there were people riding horses and didn’t complain. So if your going to say something at least be respectful about it. So if you get an encounter by these two people ignore them and keep doing your thing is what we were told by an incredibly nice lady.

A great place & a safe place to walk. The trail is entirely concrete and asphalt free which my knees and feet love! Of course all the wildlife is simply an added bonus!

Nice trailhead with options to go a few different directions. This lot gets super full pretty often and lacks trash cans, water refill stations and poo bags. The only area for water for you or your dogs is south - towards 360. All normal amenities you'd be used to seeing near trailheads don't exist. They have an illuminated crosswalk, but most cars just fly through it even with pedestrians in the road thinking cars have the right of way (even though they don't per state law) so be very careful crossing the road as drivers in GA aren't cautious and don't follow the laws of the road. The trails are nice though and there aren't any huge inclines, so it's an easy hike. When you go towards the "mountain" there are larger hills, but it's less than 10k feet, so by definition, just hills around here. Great place to take the family or a dog for a good hike.

Before now I've only ever really hiked Kennesaw mountain and the trail behind pidgeon hill that eventually leads to the Illinois monument and the trails beyond. I stumbled upon this place by accident a few months ago and waited for someone to be with me to actually explore The trail on the whole was beautiful but where we began was exceptionally so. Instead of starting at the trailhead, we took the path across from the parking lot that leads up to the field. If you go straight through the field you come across a path that doesn't seem very used and is just absolutely lovely. We spent maybe 15- 20 minutes, if that, on this part of the trail overall before it met back up with the regular trail. I had a great time exploring this area and I'm sure you will too! There are a few hills on the main trail, but it's not nearly as strenuous as the Kennesaw mountain trail :)
