Beautiful falls with beautiful views around. Hiking is fun here and there are steps that you can take to go top of the falls. My 2year old kid did climbed easily 425 steps. There is plenty of space for picnic and spent valuable time there. All aside weather was just right. Overall it was a fabulous experience.

Absolutely breath taking. We chose to start the trail at the top and use the 425 steps one way down to the falls. It was fun and memorable for our crew. We had 4 kiddos with us from ages 4-11 and they were all able to complete the stairs on their own. The falls are beautiful and worth the hike. We are not sure what the trail is like coming from the base of the falls. The views of the Blue Ridge mountains at the top of the falls was amazing! Definitely recommend this natural wonder of Georgia. It should be must do.

Highly recommended for all of you to visit this waterfall. So easy to get to. $5.00 to get in the park. There are several way to see it from the visitor center. Easy and strenuous hike. We decided the easy part to drive up and walk to the waterfall. The .5 miles walk from the second parking lot before the top of the falls.

Nice state park! But very busy, crowded (last weekend in October) . People waiting to take pictures pretty much at every spot! The walk up to the falls is very strenuous! If walking is not possible , driving up by road option is available too, but parking was full at almost all stops, so could take some time to find a spot! If would like to climb half way through, there is a west trail, which connects at 425 step point and the bridge across the falls. Beautiful hike, but needed several stops as the hike is steep! Initial section of trail/paved path way and then 600 steps. Nice picnic area at the top. Zip lining not that great. Restrooms were a complete disaster, with rolls of toilet paper on the floor and water everywhere!

It was a nice hike up and down the stairs. Some people take the hiking trail, but we chose the stairs. There are places to rest if you're taking the stairs. There were so many beautiful views. I went during the Spring time.

Beautiful waterfall. New welcome center. Two trails to get to the falls here. You can drive to the start of trail at the very top of the falls or start at the bottom on a rubber paved path to the falls. Start on the trail above and you will need to be prepared to go down 425 stairs, but the views are amazing. The two trails meet at the bottom of the falls where is a small bridge.

Our visit was a very nice experience. There are several ways to view the falls, which allows one to appreciate the beauty of the waterfalls. You can view by looking down from the top of the falls (and can also drive to the top and park if unable to walk the distance). Or, you can walk or drive to the mid-point section of the water fall where parking is available. There is a nice bridge here that spans the width of the falls from where you can view and take nice photos. You can look up as well as look down to view. There is also the option of a more strenuous trail where you can start at the bottom of the falls and walk the trail and climb the stairs all the way to the top. The distance from the base of the falls to the top overlook is only one mile. There are benches along the trail for those who may need to stop to rest. Be sure to bring water and bug spray! The only con was the limited parking to access the trails. Visiting during the week is best. I highly recommend visiting the Amicalola Falls for ALL ages.

Wonderful hiking, climbing and views. Nice waterfalls. The waterfalls are Very tall. The volume is not huge though. If you start from the bottom, you will need to climb hundreds of steps to reach to the middle, then hundreds of more steps to reach to the top. There are beautiful views on the top. But, if you canโ€™t climb to the top via the steps, you can drive to the top, and park there and see the views. Only 5 $ parking fee per vehicle for the day.

Took my kid here for zip lining and hiking for her birthday. It's a beautiful place. Not many food options, so you have to eat at the lodge or bring your own. We had a wonderful time. I'd recommend it to everyone!

Beautiful! Starting at the base there is about a 1/2 mile trail to your first set of 175 steps. Strenuous level. There are spots to rest along your way. You'll arrive for an amazing view of the falls. If you care to walk to the top, it's 425 steps up. It's worth the view! But can drive from the bottom to the middle level to the bridge as well as continue to the very top. Hill is very steep. Take your time and enjoy!

600 stairs total if you want to hike from the bottom to the top. You can drive up to the top or middle and hike over a short distance but will still need to navigate some stairs. There are several benches to stop and catch your breath on the way up. The steep incline hike at before you get to the stairs is strenuous but paved. You cannot get in the water/fall anywhere (signs are posted to stay on trail) except at the base/bottom where you first come in and can park and take a short walk over also with a few stairs. It was extremely crowded especially at the bridge at the midway point and the top. Went on a weekend in June and early morning. Got busier as the day went on. The hotel at the top has a stunning view but is an additional hike to get to. The gift shop is nice. The restaurant was closed at 11am while there. There are restrooms at the base and the top, that is it. The stairs are also clear metal so you can see down the entire way.

It's a perfect outdoor experience. This waterfall is so cool, it almost doesn't seem real. My videos show some of the cascades. I also show the walkway and the stairs. The last video shows a great mountain view at the top. To get to the mountain view, when you are by the bathrooms at the top you will see a trail. Walk up the trail a little ways and you will see some beautiful Blue Ridge mountain views.

Loved this little side trip. Quick, easy, tree shaded path to the falls. Hearing the sound of the waterfall along the path was so enjoyable. It's beautiful on either side of the bridge over the waterfall. Great place to take pictures! Check out our!

The park is doing some construction which will be a good thing once completed. Currently the visitors center is in a trailer because they are building a new one.. Hike to falls from the bottom to the top has some steep inclines and 600 stairs one way. The waterfall was absolutely beautiful. There is a handicap accessible trail that goes right to the falls so everyone can enjoy it.

Amicalola falls is a nice scenic hike with a big climb. It is the start of the Appalachian Trail but most people seem to come to see the falls. They have a new visitor center which seems almost done. We walked from there up the trail by some small falls and the reflection pool. From there you climb about 600 stairs to the top with a nice view right before the stairs. About 1/3rd of the way up is another bridge with a great view and short walk to see a prohibition era car. From there you can hike the rest of the way up to the view at the top and a nice lodge with facilities. We took about 3 hours to hike up and eat lunch and then hike down.

Amicalola Falls State Park is absolutely beautiful. The visitors center is nice with lots of options for souvenirs. There are several trails to hike. The lodge was gorgeous with stunning views. We took a short hike to the bottom of the falls and then climbed the stairs to the top. I would highly recommend visiting the park if you are in the area.

Hope this is helpful โœŒ๐Ÿผ Definitely a must visit waterfall in Georgia. You can skip the leg day ๐Ÿ˜… and have an adventurous trip to this place. The entry fee is $5 and you can either park at the lower falls area where you can even do fishing or you can park at the upper falls and take the stairs down. There are 425+ steps, so it can be strenuous for elderly people. You can also go straight up to the lodge where you can enjoy an amazing view sitting at the fire place or have some good food. We also did the zip lining there for which you can book the tickets online. Itโ€™s around $30 for level 1 which takes about an hour and they have 3 different levels to choose from. A fun experience overall !

I went up for a work related Stihl training conference and I have to say it is absolutely gorgeous! The facilities were absolutely astounding and I couldn't believe how beautiful the area was. The views the people everything was amazing. If you haven't been to this location I highly recommend it. You will not be sorry. I did not get to see the waterfall but I heard so many incredible things from other people. Absolutely worth the hiking trails Etc You will not be sorry!! They do have a wonderful playground for children there. It seems pretty dog friendly. And it looked like they were working on some of the restrooms and doing some construction on some of the buildings.

The falls are beautiful! Lots of photo opportunities The hike is steep but doable even for children. The trail is not really stroller or wheelchair friendly though it does have blacktop. The guest center has live snakes and turtles that my kids loved to see. Parking costs $5 per vehicle. There was a sign warning of bears in the area.

Best $5 you will spend. Be prepared for some climbing. Thereโ€™s a lot of tall stairs so youโ€™ll get a good workout. The views and waterfall itself are absolutely beautiful. Trail and stairs are safe and clean. Really loved this area. If you donโ€™t want to climb the steps you can also drive to the top of the falls for the view.

Stunning and breathtaking! If you are ever in this area of GA itโ€™s a must. Make sure you skip leg day before! The 600+ steps to the top are no joke! But itโ€™s 100% worth every step! They have hikes for everyone too, some easy some tough! Just go!! Get off your phone now, lace up your hiking boots and go! You wonโ€™t regret it!

This was a great little day adventure. You can choose to climb the rugged terrain all the way up, take the stairs or park part way up and take fewer stairs. Which ever way you decide, wear comfortable rugged hiking boots or shoes. The climb is worth it!

This is a beautiful park! We stayed on the campground for two nights in December. There were very few other people around. There was wifi through the campground, which was helpful for a meeting. Bathrooms were clean and heated, showers were nice and hot. The falls are breathtakingly tall and the view looking out at the mountains from the top is amazing. We saw a bear at the falls! The stairs are totally worth it! We hiked part of the appalachain approach trail for a great workout. Dinner at the lodge at sunset was gorgeous and the lodge was very festive for the holidays. It would have been nice to know before we were seated that the only option was a buffet, but it was all delicious.

Our experience was with the lodge only. It is beautiful and the views are amazing. The employees were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The restaurant was nice and the food (buffet only) was very good. They have a bar/bartender. It is in the dining area and very small, but adequate. Most people carry their cocktails outside to soak in the mountain scenery from the huge deck. We attended a retirement party there held in a reserved lower level which included the massive patio with a large fire pit. It went off without a hitch. One of my favorite venues.

Located in the Chattahoochee National Forest in the Northern Georgia Mountains just Northeast of Dawsonville, Ga. is the Amicalola Falls State Park. We visited in early April this year (2023) and the weather was absolutely wonderful. The park is a nature lover and hikers paradise with over 14 miles of trails including the approach trail to the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail at Springer Mountain. Amicalola Falls is a true wonder to see dropping over 725 feet. It is easy to access the lower end of the falls at the reflection pond parking area or the upper observation platform via a short hike from its parking area as well. For the adventurous there is a 604 step stairway from top to the bottom of the falls with an observation bridge that crosses the falls about halfway down, which is absolutely spectacular. The park offers both camping and a lodge and is currently building a new visitors center which is to be one of the largest in the state. This park is a must see.

Amazing state park with great trails, friendly staff and of course a breathtaking waterfall. I hiked the east ridge trail to the top of the falls and then down the steps to the landings. This route was an excellent choice. Colin in the visitor center was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and guided me to the best way to venture the park. Thankful for the day here.

Beautiful spot. Recommend you stop by the visitor's post to see the activities they organize - forrest archery and tomahawk throw were hits with my family. The scavenger hunt was nothing special. You will definitely want to hike in the forest and go up the falls.

Such a beautiful place! Absolutely recommend if youโ€™re in the area! The waterfall was so beautiful and we did the zip lining tour which was amazing. The tour guides were so helpful and friendly! I would recommend the third tier because the last line you take the view is absolutely breathtaking. They said you go like 50 miles an hour and itโ€™s just a wonderful little adventure! Definitely worth the money! All in all, it was amazing!

What an amazing sight to see! You can drive to the top (it's a long, steep climb so make sure your car is capable). There's plenty of parking. There are picnic sites and a public restrooms not far from the entrance. We parked at the bottom. You will walk up a winding asphalt walk until you reach stairs. There are pitstops for great pictures and rest. We made it to the middle bridge and decided that was far enough. LOL! We went back down and drove up to the top. The walkway and the wood stairs can be slippery because of the dampness and humidity. $5 entry

Clean trails and beautiful landscape. The waterfall kept everyone cool and amazed during the Appalachian Approach Trail while the East Ridge Loop trail was breathtaking with a view of the mountains. Trails in the woody area are well marked. There was a bit of construction, hopefully it will be done when I decide to visit again!

This was my second trip to Amicalola Falls State Park. I came alone this trip for a time alone tent camping experience. First time camping here, overall, very good experience. The camp grounds were very well kept, bathhouse was fairly clean and well lit. Many sites to choose from. Loved hiking to the lovely Falls, and hiking the trails. Will definitely be back, and will try the cabins and possibly the glamping, since the wife wants to try it. Can't wait to see the new Visitors Center once its complete.

Beautiful falls. You can either hike by climbing around 400+ steps while you enjoy the view ,though it can be strenuous. Or you also drive up to the top of the falls by car and park. The view is beautiful and you can enjoy the blissful sound of water hitting the rocks.

The kids, age 1 and 11, were intrigued and the walking was great for them! It's not too bad at all if you skip walking from bottom to top! We walked to the bottom, and then drove around and up to the top! Highly recommend this place! Fun for everyone! Including fishing! Lots of photographic opportunities as well! Make sure you visit the lodge! Spectacular views!!! 100% coming back!

What a lovely place to be. There are tons of trails, rigorous steps, stunning views and plenty of parking. We went in a busy day but the trails are wide enough that it didnโ€™t matter and parking was still plentiful. The best views are if you drive past the visitors center to to the reflection pool at the base of the falls and walk up the 175 steps to the bridge hat crosses the stream. The trail Vs. Be slick so be careful. Define you will be going back to this place.

The hike from the bottom to the middle of the falls is ROUGH if you're not an overly active person, but, SOOOOOOO worth it! Absolutely beautiful! The top observation of the falls has an equally stunning view of the mountains that seems to stretch on forever. Photos can truly do it no justice. HIGHLY recommend adding this beautiful place to your agenda.

Absolutely gorgeous and The pictures do no justice! We walked the 604 steps to the top of the water fall and it was worth every step! Gorgeous scenery in every direction and as far as the eye can see. If you're unable to climb the stairs to the top, you have the option to drive up and walk over to enjoy the views at the top of the waterfall. Headed to the zip lining adventures afterwards and it was just as phenomenal! I'd definitely return and experience it all again. If you're unable to climb the stairs to the top, you have the option to drive and enjoy the views of the top of the waterfall too.

Very lovely park! Went in late November for a day trip and the fall colors were just starting to fade but the views were still incredible. I hiked to the top of the falls and took the stairs back down to the visitor center. The hike was hard work uphill and the views were worth it right at the top, but the stairs had gorgeous waterfall views all along including a bridge over the falls about halfway down. The visitors center employees were very knowledgeable, kind, and helpful with finding a handicap accessible trail for my grandmother to see the waterfall.

This is a beautiful place and offers a few easy routes or one that is over 600 steps up. There are many amazing views of the mountains as well. We brought our dogs with us and there were stairs that they were not able to walk on, but we still had a great time. The waterfall is the main attraction, of course, but the scenery and walks are worth coming back for as we did and brought a friend that lived in the area. If you get anywhere close, you should definitely stop here.

Wow! This park was very pretty! All of the employees were very friendly and helpful! If you drive to the top of the waterfall and want to climb the steps down, I will warn it can be very tiring, do not push yourself too hard and bring lots of water! If you have bad knees or hate stairs, I do not recommend walking down. Instead start from the base and walk that trail up! I had lots of fun here!

Beautiful water falls! The lady at the Visitorโ€™s Center directed us out the back of the Visitorโ€™s Center which takes you to the East Ridge Trail. We hiked the East Ridge trail up to the top of the falls Itโ€™s about 1 mile unpaved trail, moderate hike. 11 and 12 year olds breezed up it. Definitely gets your heart rate up! Then took the 600 stairs down to the bottom. If I had it to do over again, I wouldโ€™ve started at the reflection pool, taken the 600 steps up, and then do the East Ridge trail back down. You canโ€™t see a whole lot on the East Ridge trail until you get to the very top. There are a few overlooks along the ER trail that are pretty. I kept anticipating the 600 steps but realized you bypass them when you take the ER trail. If you have someone in your party who doesnโ€™t want to hike, they can drive to the reflection pool which is the bottom of the falls or all the way up to the top of the falls and pick you up there.

This park is beautiful; especially during the fall. When you enter the park, make sure to check out the visitor center. My kids loved the gift shop and the reptile exhibit. Grab some maps and head out to explore the park and the cascading waterfall. The stair climb is intense so make sure you are physically prepared.

My family and I went to this place two days ago. It was a bit cold (about 40 degrees) but the weather was very nice. They have 3 parkings as well as 3 stages along the trail routes (bottom is from the Visitor Center, middle is the West Ridge Falls Access, and the top of the falls area.) Only paid $5 for parking access. I wish I had time going to this place in fall, it must be much more beautiful and colorful when the trees change their leaves color...

Absolutely amazing! It was like 6$ or something to park! Multiple parking areas! With multiple trails that all lead to the falls. Went in december, definitely bundle up! I brought my dog on a rainy day and I felt so guilty halfway! her paws were being tore up from the metal stairways! They were pointy with grips to help cling to your shoes ๐Ÿ‘ NOT for puppy paws.. Absolutely amazing views!! 2 different viewing decks [next to/over falls]. The top isn't MUCH of a view but OTW UP the second staircase was perfect! They have picnic tables and benches. Restroom at the visitors center with trinkets.

The park was very nice and relatively clean. It's a good place for dog walks and morning hikes. Along The trails are amazing sights but I will say it is a little rough for beginners with large packs or a lot of gear. The trails themselves are rough and very rocky, if not careful or experienced enough you could hurt yourself.

Beautiful!!! Park at the visitor center and take the trail through the arch and woods going to the top. Beautiful wooded hike with mountain views as you reach the top of falls. Falls are gorgeous and if you do the hike this way you only have to go down the 600 steps! Worth it though! Then follow the creek trail through the woods back to visitor center for a nice 2.2 ish mile hike. Very doable with kids as long as they can handle all the stairs. Trails themselves very easy to social distance on a weekday morning but the falls overlooks were a little tricker to keep distance. Still doable though especially if you go early! (Photos from summer visit)

Good State Park.. water fall views from lower base and top of the fall are good. You have to walk a bit and specially climbing up 450 stairs is tiresome but worth the effort. If you want to avoid walking take a drive and park on top of the falls parking.

The waterfall is great, the highest fall east of the Mississippi River. The other thing people remember about this place is the stairs.

Amicalola Falls State Park Visitor Center not far from its entrance is manned by friendly helpful staff. It has also a shop and exhibition area with alive reptiles. It has its own free short term parking lot. If you are new to this beautiful park, stop at the visitor center to get info and map.

Beautiful place! Very easy to drive to the top of the falls and view where the waterfall actually begins. If you are not in good shape physically, or have back or knee issues, then you will not want to take the hike from the bottom towards the top. There is a nice parking area and visitor center, and I saw several different hiking trails.

Beautiful water fall. Awesome trails! There is a fantastic lodge with the best photo spot overlooking the valley. We have also been zip lining there! Take your family!!

Beautiful fall day for a hike "the steps trail" from the top of falls to the visitor center and back. Beautiful falls. An engineering fact those stair cases and benches!!! Kudos

The waterfall and views here are phenomenal! Itโ€™s such a cute little park. We didnโ€™t stay at the lodge, we just came to visit for the day. But we had a lot of fun. The kids loved the playgrounds, the creek and the reflection pool and all the snakes and reptiles in the gift shop. The park is very quaint and beautiful. Would highly recommend

I shall be back! I finally got to visit this state park to explore the trails and falls, and Iโ€™m already planning to return. I was on a time crunch but plan to return to hike the Mount Laurel Loop and some of the AT. I parked at the start of Creek Trail and hiked around to the base of the falls, up and back down. Having the creek along side the trail was amazing. I canโ€™t wait to see this park in the spring! Camping, hiking, and all the views- Iโ€™m sure they wonโ€™t disappoint, it was a site to see in winter.

One of the best waterfalls in Georgia! Crowds are usually an issue, but there are a lot less people in the winter, especially if you arrive later in the day closer to sunset (I only saw a few other people hiking). Itโ€™s not a treacherous hike at all, just mildly strenuous with all the stairs

This park is amazing I have the chance go go with my cousin coming out of town and he actually suggest the place I heard it some where before but never got the change to go. We Olรกn accord welt this place is kind of far from my house almost 1:10 minutes drive but 100% worth it while we getting there notice we getting far from the city this place is really pretty lot of vegetation. At the moment to arrive entrance is around 10 dollars for entire car. Park is really busy on pick times such as weekends or holidays, we get some information at the kiosk and start our trail all the way up the distance is around 1 miles not that far away but the inclination of the hardest trail is pretty decent, took us around 2 hours and some change to went up and come back. The view is amazing at the top you can enjoying the beautiful water fall they have a kiosk to buy some water or other thinks if you keep walking up you ends it up on the restaurant hotel, the view in there is amazing the hole valley you can check the the back part of this place also a zip line is available and seems pretty cool some good exercise you can do there. This place 100% recommend it lot of trees on the place so you are not 100% exposed to the sun

Sunday morning hike. $5 parking fee. Base of falls hike is a well built staircase. Lots of others on the trail. We went early morning. The breeze coming off of the falls feels like AC. We will definitely come back for the other trails.

I highly recommend visiting this waterfall if you are in the area. The drive up the mountain is short, and the surrounding forest is beautiful. There is an ADA parking lot with a soft paved path right to the middle of these magnificent falls. If you can't park there, you can park at the top of the falls and walk down the sturdy wooden staircases, then back up to your car. The paths are green, gorgeous, and shaded by the tall forest. Parking was $5 when I went.

Stop by the lodge at the top for bathrooms and gift shop. And air conditioning. And a beautiful panoramic view. The hike to the waterfall isn't too strenuous and is paved with that rubber tar on playgrounds, so it's good for wheels. It is a bit steep on the way back. Make sure to stop and observe the forest above and below the trail. Lots of cool things to notice.

This was by far, the most beautiful, waterfall I have seen. We went to the middle deck, where it was an easy, short walk to the falls. You can see all the way up and down the falls. You can trout fish at the bottom. There wasn't much space for parking, but well Worth the trouble..

We love Amicalola! Weโ€™ve hiked to the top and weโ€™ve driven to the top. Such beautiful views everywhere. The trails are all easy to maneuver but it is a steep climb with lots of steps. You can also drive to the top and see down.

I went on a beautiful fall Saturday afternoon. The park was over crowded, parking was a pain, the hike to the waterfall was steep and long. The waterfall made it all worth it. Amicalola Falls is the best waterfall I have seen in the US (not counting Niagara). It is tall and majestic. If you visit the park, I would recommend also going to the top of the mountain where the lodge is. The views of the surrounding mountains from there are amazing.

This is one of the closer waterfall hikes to atlanta. While the waterfall is nice, itโ€™s not in my top 5 state parks in GA, mostly as it stays pretty busy with visitors. We most recently visited on the last weekend in October and it was way too crowded- 5-10 min line to get into the park. And since most of the main โ€œhikeโ€ is climbing stairs, it wasnโ€™t very relaxing or peaceful as you were constantly shuffling past the crowds. It is nicer on slower days with less crowds. They do have an ADA path (park half way up), but that parking lot is small - but great for folks who want to see the falls without climbing stairs. Otherwise, park at the bottom to climb your way up, or do it in the reverse, park up top and climb down. We started up top as the bottom was too crowded. They do have public restrooms at the bottom. There is a nice lodge up top with rooms, restaurant, and bathrooms
