Awesome camping trip. We enjoyed the park and the cleanliness of the campground. We plan to come here again with kayaks. If you don’t own a kayak, you can rent one. There are a couple of docks to fish from. We camped in campsite 7, which was awesome. We had friends camping in campsite 6, and we had a path between the two. There was also a path down to the water. It rained some while we were here, but the sandy campsites held up well. The bath house was clean as well. They even had a family shower room that was easy to bathe kids in. Very, very nice park! Check it out!

Our family loved camping at George L. Smith. It is a beautiful park. Our campsite touched the water, we rented kayaks and walked through the old mill. We didn't have time to walk all the trails but plan to go back again soon.

I originally booked 2 nights camping here but liked it so much I decided to stay a 3rd night. The birding and trails here are excellent. I was lucky enough to see a gopher tortoise on a hike. I also rented a kayak and went out to see the ospreys.

Very nice campground. Big spaces with some privacy. Clean bathrooms. The only bummer was day 1 after dinner there was no hot water in the showers. But day 2 in the afternoon was fine. Excellent kayaking! They have rentals too. Highly recommend!

Picture perfect park with nice walking trails and an old mill barn. Small well kept campground with most sites on the waterfront. Kayak, canoe 🛶 rental is available. An afternoon on the cypress 🌲 tree lake is a must. Enjoy. Ooga booga 😎

The cypress trees in the water are one of the more picturesque lakes in the entire state of Georgia. Lots of kayakers and canoe rentals in the water and it’s definitely worth taking a boat out. The covered bridge is very beautiful and there is a built-in museum where you get to walk along the covered bridge and see how the mill used to work. The staff inside the welcome center was very pleasant and extremely nice, luckily, I have not encountered poor staff at any of the state parks in our years journey to complete all state parks in one year. There was a ton of people here on a Sunday in June in the middle of the day… Which is strange because it’s so hot! There is a large group building right at the dam that is being expanded and renovated looks like a very large center is going in. Two decent trails to hike as well each about 3 miles.

This was one of the best parks I've been to. I came specifically to photograph the cedars during the peak Autumn season. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Best kayaking experience in GA! The campgrounds were clean, with very clean bathrooms and hot water showers were a plus. There are also cottages for those who don't wish to camp, although camping under the milky way was pretty magical. I look forward to my next visit.

This park is a gem! Fun to walk through the dam museum and the entire grounds is beautiful. Some great trails and while I haven't done it, kayaking looks like it'd be really fun.

This is a wonderful park! Clean, friendly staff and amazing views. Our campsite was right off the lake so we were able to put our kayaks right in the water from our site. The bathrooms are clean and the showers are nice and hot!

This place was awesome! We visited on Monday, February 14, 2022. The park is very clean and very pretty. First off we went to the mill. It was a nice sunny day there and it was amazing! The 1880's mill looked glamorous with the water and the 15 Mile Creek. The mill is called Parrish mill and it opened in the 1880's making corn. It used hydro power to work and grind the corn. The lake with all the trees were very pretty as well. I found a duck in there and we took some nice pictures of him. He was a white duck with an orange beak. We loved him. There is also a fishing area if you like doing that. Also there is a lot of kayaking and boating here. I don't personally kayak at all, but I gotta say that is place is a very good place to kayak. I highly recommend this place for it. Anyway the park office had a gift shop and some restroom. Each were clean and nearly decorated. The staff in there was really nice and helpful while buying a parking pass. Anyway, I highly recommend this place for sightseeing and kayaking.

Beautiful state park! Fantastic and friendly hosts. Clean restrooms. Beautiful, shaded campsites on the water. Fantastic kayaking. Nice hiking trails. Big playground. The fish were not biting, but "a bad day fishing is still better than a good day at work." We will be back.

Pretty lake with unique bald cypress and having camping site next to the lake. Kayak rental is $25 for 2 hours. Really enjoyed the trip.

What a wonderful gem of a park. Perfect for a day of kayaking on Watson Pond. The squirrels were abundant and the RV park was very clean. Visit me @ jenniferrobin.gallery

One of the best areas to recreational kayak in the area. Very easy to navigate and every time I have been there has not been too many other people on the water. I will definitely be coming back here throughout the year.

We often go on months-long RV trips and I have to say this might be the COOLEST state park we have come across. The paddling trail was absolutely awesome, like a scavenger hunt in the swamp. Great walking/biking trails. Sites are shaded. Clean, quiet and gorgeous with many activities to do. We will be back!

We love this place 😁 If you want to JK just come for the day there's a fee. If you have children they have a play area and equipment to play on. Big field for playing softball games etc. We were camping enjoying the outdoors and weather there. Our second time here and we'll be going back again! Oh I almost forgot trails to hike and walk too 🥰

Incredible! I would give it 6 stars if I could. Kayaking through the forest is incredible. The lake and shade are so refreshing on a sweltering day. A little hard to find the trail markers for the blue and yellow trails so a GPS with breadcrumbs is a great help. If the water is high there may not be anywhere to get out so plan accordingly.

Love this peaceful, serene park. Just drive through today but have camped, fished, kayaked, walked down the trails, picnicked and bird and gator watched. Wonderful place for family time or just a quiet afternoon.

My and I husband stopped by on our way home to Oklahoma for a quick kayak before dark. It was beautiful! We wish we would have had more daylight to explore. The covered bridge museum is really neat also. It's definitely a place we would like to go back to someday!

Very cozy and mostly quiet. Kayak trails are awesome but it may be time to revive the colors and clarify a few markers but it is such a cool and unique experience. This was our second visit and we plan to go again.

One of my favorite camp grounds as it's not too far from home and perfect for weekend get aways. The most recent visit surprised us with superbly clean restrooms and more than accommodating hosts. We'll be back for certain!

We loved our stay at this park. We stayed at lot 19 which was slightly strange that we shared a drive with the next lot, a drive through. THE camp hosts are very nice and attentive. As soon as someone pulls out they are tidying up and getting it ready for the next camper. The bathrooms are probably the cleanest you will find in any state park right now. Only suggestion is to put a handheld shower in the handicapped stall. They kayaking is the most fun of all. The lake with it's forest of cypress trees is beautiful and the yellow trail is really enjoyable and cool. We will undoubtedly return just for the lake. There is a very nice, large playground for the kids and the entire park is dog-friendly.

While our personal experience here wasn’t the best, it is a great state park. It’s very family oriented with lots of picnic and perusing spots to enjoy. There’s a few trails but either in the wetlands or direct overhead sunlight, we did one of both and while pretty, we skipped in the mud of the wetlands and struggled in the overhead heat of a cruel july sun. I’d still go back though.

I recently visited a charming little park that I thoroughly enjoyed. The park is located by Parrish Mill pond of 15 Mile Creek, and the highlight of the park is the unique combo mill and covered bridge from 1880 that has been nicely restored. The museum sign over the doors adds a historical touch to the place. However, I do have a couple of complaints. Although Georgia took the effort to install glass windows to view the operational part of the mill, the glass was dirty from the inside, and there were no lights inside the room. Additionally, there were no display or historical signs, and the rooms were virtually empty, despite having the largest windows. Even the auxiliary diesel added at the beginning of the last century and one of the turbines on the outside had no information available. To get a better understanding of the history of the park, I recommend picking up a printed history from the gift shop first. Speaking of the gift shop, it was pretty useless in terms of commodities for campers, and there were few snacks or drinks available. They only had a small assortment of souvenir trinkets. Fortunately, the park offers canoe and kayak rentals, although reservations are needed during peak season. There are also hiking trails available to explore, and the pond is a typical Cyprus Pond, home to a variety of animals. The park also provides RV and cottage rentals, as well as primitive and hook-up campsites. Additionally, there are picnic areas, tables, and an event center with a kitchen. Overall, it was a lovely place to visit, and I would recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy nature and history.

So peaceful and serene. It was exactly the day trip I've been needing to take after a rough year. Walked the trails in silence, hunting for good pinecones, cool bugs and even stopped to talk with an Armadillo for a little while. He was very kind. He was also looking for bugs. Highly recommend! Definitely kayaking next time :)

Very nice and well kept State Park. I've been visiting this park for many years since my family reunion is held there every year in October. The office staff was very cheerful and excepting when we arrived. The Rangers were very nice as well. Looking forward to seeing you guys again next year!!!! I would definitely recommend this park for an event or just a weekend trip. The cottages are very nice and well kept. Great camping as well. And if you live close (unlike us) a day trip here to enjoy the scenery and even maybe try your hand at a canoe ride on the lake. Also great hiking trails with beautiful scenes.

We stayed in a cabin. Loved the updated look and feel! With a family of 6, we had tons of space. The park is beautiful, and being mid-January, it was so peaceful since the rest of the cabins were empty and there were very few campers on the grounds. Definitely make the time to stay there and enjoy its beauty and serenity.

Great way to spend some time and get some exercise. A real water wheel mill that commercialized the area with work sawing, cotton gin, and grits / grain milling. All needed in the area during the 1880 to 1972. Walk through the mill. Enjoy an easy walk in several nature paths. Book your campsite early as they fill up really fast so they didn't allow for drive ups. The day trail is free with a 5.00 parking fee per car.

Best kept secret in Georgia! Glad we stumbled upon this place. Great campsites on the water, stunning scenery. The State Park is not currently doing boat or kayak rentals (Oct 2020), but we highly recommend Mill Pond Kayak Tours.

This place was amazing! The sites are spacious and clean. The bath house was cleaned better than any I've been in. The roads are paved throughout the park. Everyone that we dealt with was so kind! We will definitely be going back!

Beautiful and secluded secret little spot of a nature lovers heaven. The Mill House will take you on a trip back to a much simpler time. They offer beautiful cabins with all of the modern amenities and even offer cabins for wheelchair users and/or scooters etc. You can also enjoy a cruise on the water by paddle boats, kayaks, motorboats and maybe even other options now. Hope you can find time to visit and enjoy a walk down a real nature trail or camp for a few days.

Absolutely amazing place to kayak. Trails are marked as you move through the trees and the routes aren't difficult, though there are some narrow places. The yellow and blue routes are shaded the majority of the way, so even though it was over 90 degrees out, it did not seem like it at all.
