As I sit here in pain I literally would rather just die! Being the main VA hospital in Atlanta, these people do NOT care about patients! The phone systems are in adequate, they don't provide aid or care for people in a timely manner or at all, their customer service skills are non existent, like the list can go on. Even in the event of an emergency situation you will not be seen, or in my case even have your vitals checked until you've waited 1-2.5 Hours, with adequate staffing, and minimal patients in the waiting room. At this point these people come to work to sit in their desk chairs, and collect a 9-5 paycheck! Not to help people, like they should be!

Betty is a horrible medical professional and she is a disgrace to be providing service to veterans that served this country. I am so disappointed. If anyone encounters her, make sure you keep a questioning mindset because she speaks to her patients very rude and condescending.

Been waiting in the ER with shortness of breath at 8:00pm. It is now 12:23 and still have not yet been seen. Eventually someone going to literally die or collapse before these hospitals to actually care about us vets. At least we deserve better care.

When will they close these fictitious veteran facilities that don't give a damn about the veterans? Have we not reached a point in VA healthcare history where there are enough problems and delays in care that veterans with health concerns of all kinds, including mental health issues, should have the option to seek care from private providers (beyond the scope of community care, which can take up to 90 days to review for approval)? In this way, we can create a VA insurance program that is far more effective than the current one, one that does not have a small number of doctors at each VA hospital or clinic that serves roughly a thousand veterans annually, thereby maintaining the outdated and inadequate traditional VA service model.

Appointment wait times are close to a year for primary care doctors. Half the doctors speak terrible english, and if you want a different doctor too bad. The wait time to be seen by a nurse is not too bad, however the doctor will need to set an appointment up with you after seeing the nurse, and like I said that will be around a year later. Go to a civilian doctor or hospital if you have a real problem you need to be cared for fast, because these places are here to just make money from gov paychecks. No actual care has ever been given at these locations.

Phone system is horrible! I just tried to call the main switch board and it's constantly busy. Then I tried to report an emergency room visit and guess what.....yup, no answer. I'm sure I'm now going to get a bill b/c the VA won't pay for it because I didn't report it. How can you report it if you can't reach anyone? I love my Blairsville VA clinic, however, it is connected to the Atlanta Medical Center and I despise the lack of concern for our vets and don't even get me started on the cleanliness of this place! This place is a travesty!

Please understand this is where you go to die, suffer, and get completely turned around. You’re better off getting care from another VA hospital out of state or paying for your own private health insurance. In ten years dealing with this hospital I never had the opportunity to call and get anyone on the phone without being hung up after saying three words. I got turned around for my cancer treatments here after being assigned to this hospital from another VA hospital. Lucky for me I didn’t die before transferring back to California six months later.

Easily the worst VA I’ve been to as far as veteran customer service. Hours are till 1630 for enrollment and eligibility - got there at 1530 and was told they don’t take enrollees after 1530. They rushed me right out without even going over the enrollment form. Could’ve just as easily let me fill out the form and hand it in to them at least. This was after I’ve tried calling them for two weeks without ever getting an answer and instead getting redirected to the wrong area constantly. This process needs to be fixed asap.

If I could give this hospital zero stars I would. Please if you can afford it or have insurance that covers it go anywhere but here. Emory, Grady. I spent 5 days of hell in this hospital, I was not properly tended too, doctors didn’t communicate with doctors, nurses didn’t communicate with nurses, care plans being changed with out discussing it with patients nor other necessary staff/ oncoming shift, rude nurses, negligence with medications, my linens weren’t changed for 4 days, I wasn’t able to shower until I asked for my fiancée to help me, nurses ignored me, male stacleaners, food service etc) would just walk in my room with no indication that I was decent and complete disregard for hippa laws since one time I was with my surgeon discussing sensitive information. I asked for a patient advocate multiple times over the 5 day span and was ignored. Finally found the AOD and was hopefully there would be some changes in my care instead I was discharged hours later with no treatment solution. I still can not walk, my pain level is a 10 and I’m at risk for Infection, I need surgery according to every specialist and was told I can’t even have a face to face to discuss it for at least 3 to four weeks. Worst facility to seek help. You basically beg for treatment and still aren’t helped

This review deserves a novel, but I will try to keep it short. This hospital is the the epicenter for overpaid, incompetent, government employees. All of the staff only have two modes of operation, either lackadaisical or disrespectful; most of the time they operate in both modes at the same time. For extra fun, you could try calling their phone center, where the main goal is to get you off the phone and stick you in another phone queue, so that they can go back to the personal conversation they were having with their colleague. I would be amiss if I didn't call out special attention the African American, male, triage nurse I encountered in the ER. During my four hour visit, I often observed him sitting in his office, snacking on a large bag of chips, while his two other colleagues took care of most of the patients. If he needed something from his other colleagues he simply barged right in to their offices without even bothering to knock. The patients that he did take care of never received any mobility assistance from him either, even if they were in wheelchairs. He simply called their names and then walked straight back to his office...I ended up loosing him in my wheelchair and had to have his office pointed out to me. In his office, he used a mask and a face shield which made him barely understandable; to make matters worse he had a very loud industrial sized hepa air filtration system sitting right next to the door. Obviously, a special request just for himself, so that he could be protected from all of the dirty patients he had to encounter everyday. It makes me very sad to see my fellow veterans treated the way I saw them treated in this facility. The only bright spot about the entire facility is the welcome staff at the front entrance , very helpful and energetic; I'm guessing they are just unpaid volunteers.

called a multitude of times over a span of a week to schedule care and not one person picked up the phone. so i walked into their office at the VA Atlanta Medical Clinic and guess what I called them while I was in the waiting room. Guess what, the lady sitting behind the desk was shopping on her phone and the phone was ringing. The other employee was eating cup of noodles. why is it that the VA healthcare system has better service in say Iowa where they pick up the phone but here in the south in Atlanta GA they just do not care?

This is the nastiest and most run down place I have ever been to in my life. It is so ghetto. If I could give a negative 5 stars I would. I have never seen so many lazy and hateful people. It is dangerous in the parking lot. There were people fighting and yelling at one another. The staff that work here are rude and condescending. They do not care about the veterans. Don't go here after dark because it is dangerous. Also if you are white I would consider going somewhere else.

I recently spent 4 days in the VA Hospital. I know that the VA's reputation is not the best, but what I experienced with the entire team; the doctors, the nurses, the technical support, and even food services was superb. They all created an atmosphere for healing. Was everything perfect? Of course not. But the effort was. Thanks to my Atlanta VA Medical Center.

Just today I'm calling to set an appointment for something I desperately need. This is my 6th attempt in 2 weeks to get through. I called 3 weeks ago complaining of pain in both my legs. No one has called me back. During the same call I asked for alternative medication that I have to take because the one I'm taking makes me really sick. Still no one has gotten back to me. I'm still waiting on test results from over a month ago that I requested clarity on. I literally had to get my big boss (civilian)to pull strings to get someone to call me back to let me know if I had Diabetes or not. That process took almost 2 months after the office visit. Worst place ever.

Despite the years of one star reviews and testaments that loved ones have died waiting for care from VA Atlanta, this place has not changed a bit. Went to prosthetics to pick up a simple heat pack. It wasn't busy at all and saw employees goofing off, taking time to make sure they didn't work too hard. After one patient complained, the guy at the desk went to the back to get him what he needed and I said "While you are back there, can you get my heat pack?". He said what is your name and last four, which I had already given to him, but gave him again. He came back with the other guys stuff (not the right stuff I might add) but not my heat pack. I waited another 15 minutes, watching employees do nothing, and then left empty handed. If you think of VA Atlanta as a place to get medical care you will be sorely disappointed. If you think of it as a place where lazy people exchange time for money, you will find that everywhere at VA Atlanta. There are just too many "employees" who don't care about veterans, patients, or medical services and VA Atlanta exists for them, not you. It's a jobs program for untalented people.

They received one star because I had to! We came here at 3 pm it’s 745 and my husband has only been triaged. The power went out in the EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT and stayed out for over an hour! No lights, no computers, nothing. This is extremely unacceptable. How can an organization that receives so much federal money for the purpose of caring for our veterans fail so miserably?! So far I haven’t even gone into the attitudes of the workers who treat everyone like they are a problem in their day. When in fact, they should be going above and beyond to serve those that have served! Then the place is a complete mess there’s food crumbs in all the floors, the bathrooms are unacceptably nasty especially during a pandemic where they force you to sit in masks. Unless you have absolutely no other choice, don’t come here!

Heard from a colleague that this is a one-star VA meaning it is in the lowest tier of VAs nationally. However, the patriot store here is incredible - They have no fewer than 6 70”+ TVs in stock. Shoe selection on point. Wish I could've spent my $400 in patriotbucks here instead of another VA

Wow! They are not a health care facility, they are health services administration. It seems like the health care workers forgot how to care about people. Better off going to a another ER and let them see you first. With chest pain, I was made to wait 2hrs. Then 2 more hrs for test. The Dr. Never came to check back nor the nurse. No privacy. I saw and heard to much about everyone. After 16 hrs I was glad I was only dehydrated. Emergent evaluations are for only the unconscious patients in the ER.

I have called numerous times in past 4 months trying to schedule an appointment with an OBGYN. I’ve called and been transferred and the phone just rang. I’ve also called and left messages with no response. I finally got someone on the phone and she told me that they were booked up but they could make me a community care appointment with an OBGYN close to my address. This has never happened. The appointment was canceled because the facility did not have an OBGYN present. So I went through the process of calling again and still have not been able to make an appointment. Why is it so hard for Veterans to receive care? We sacrifice so much but we have to wait forever or go pay out of pocket because of the total disregard of care. It’s very sad and something should be done about it.

Have been on hold for over 4hrs for the last 2 days listening to America The Beautiful on repeat with outdated statistics from 2011 and still have yet to get a response. VA Atlanta is a joke, good luck trying to reach someone. Fix your garbage system.

Place is filthy—worse than the dog pound back home. Couldn’t get adequate help from the Security guards. They’re busy talking to friends or ignoring me. All I want is directions to where I’m going. I received better care in the middle of a combat area than here.

Just started going to the facility 3 months ago (May)... Every time I walk in I feel like my life is in danger. Doctors are 95% white. Patients are 95% black. So the level of care, at this point is in question. The phone lines dont always work, so its impossible to call and make an appointment. Moving to a different state this week... so I hope its better... where Im going.

I wish I could give this place a negative 10. Absolutely ridiculous how hard it is to get the most basic of care! Almost all of the employees go out of their way to be as rude as possible. You can't get anyone on the phone in any department. They literally hang up on you. And God forbid you end up in the ER. Below substandard care. I really wish the powers-that-be would fix this place!

As a recent retiree, I have heard all the stories about how terrible the VA is, and after my experience at another clinic didn’t start so well, I was thinking the stories must be true. I came here to get my medicines refilled as I have transitioned from active duty. The staff member in the pharmacy could not help me because the active duty system does not merge with the VA system, but she was very nice and explained what I needed to do. I got to the ER and was pleasantly surprised that multiple members of the staff were very nice and helpful! I was triaged very quickly and staff member told me to have a seat to wait until the right people could do what needed to be done. The above is all fine and good, but to simply get the medications I was waiting for three hours! That destroys all the positives! I would rather they be rude and get me out in a timely efficient manner. Another issue I had was the lack of signs from the parking area directing you to anything. I walked around for a while trying to find the right place to go to. Bathrooms in the ER are disgusting and have obviously not been cleaned in quite some time! Overall, it was very frustrating and I immediately saw why people complain about VA hospitals. I would not recommend this facility, if you are able, try and go to one of the smaller VA clinics to try and expedite your visit, although, I don’t think that is a guarantee with the overall systemic customer service issues that need to be addressed.

Don't die at this hospital. My Dad said don't take me there. Staff is who know. Go to a actual medical facility and let the VA know where you are. Likely they won't pay the bill, but that doesn't trump poor care. It's unfortunate. Everytime I go to this hospital, patient care isn't a priority. Killing Veterans. Sad.

They don’t like their patients EVERYONE has to wait a minimum of 5 hours and they’ll hold u in with people that have been confirmed to have COVID.. HORRIBLE service since I’ve gotten here in 2016. The doctors are lazy and seem untrained. The nurses are rude headaches and utterly worthless may as well go to Grady better results

As a va employee who transferred from the another va to this one in Atlanta ga . This place is something else I’ve never in my life seen a va who don’t follow policy you have managers who are in position who don’t follow no policies or the master agreement it’s very disgusting . To say this about va is heart breaking I’ve been at the va for years I’ve never experienced nothing like this ever . This is by far the worse va I d ever worked at and I can’t wait to transfer out of here . I have been working with the Union on how a certain department who steady violates an employee rights and a veteran rights is very observed to me I will never understand how they steady just get away with this is mind blowing to me and it’s very frustrating that nothing has been done about and apparently it’s been going on for many years and no one doing anything about it . I really hope that stuff changes this is not good and it doesn’t look good on the hospital . I just really hate that I left where I was to come here to deal with this mess in the department that I am in .

I understand that there will be wait times and human error but this place needs help. First off let me start by saying..DO NOT COME HERE ON Saturday or Sunday. Especially if you are hoping for images through CT or MRI. I arrived at 3:45 pm and around 5:30 was told I needed labs drawn. They sent in a nurse who told me she’s new to sticking people, messed up bad (very painful) and after blowing the vein left to get a new nurse with more experience to stab me in the same place. After the blood was cleaned up I sat and waited until 11 for CT (which only took 5 mins) then sent back to my room to finally see the doctor who is now printing my discharge paperwork at 12am. Y’all I haven’t eaten anything(because I was waiting for ct)and everything is closed(really wanted some pasta) and I’m grumpy writing this but I pray you find peace if you decide to come here. Never will I ever come back on the weekend to this hospital unless my wife tells me to. Sorry for the rant but geez. And why do they spend money on such fancy equipment that seldomly works. The only plus was that parking was easy to get to.. I should’ve seen that as a warning sign.

I was gonna leave soon. Either die or walk out. In the er wait room for 10 hours with 1 other vet waiting to go back. Absolutely unsat. I always defended this place. Until now. I am glad the supervisors got their huge bonus though. Talked to the er supervisor and he did not look like he gave a flip. It is 0210 on 12-29-15. This is my only problem with them.

My husband, Marine Vet, has spent all day this this place to only be given 10 pain pills for his two broken ribs. That was after 6+ hours sitting and waiting to be seen. He has also another 6+ hours at this joke of a hospital when he was concerned about a hernia. An employee took him from one area back to the ER to wait, which results in his name being called without his knowledge and missing his slot for an x-ray. Then he has to ask twice, after the ER waiting room clears twice, about when he will be taken for his x-ray. No one had an answer as to why he was in the ER and waiting for an x-ray while everyone around him is being taken care of. The Atlanta VA Hospital is a JOKE.

Went to Atlanta VA hospital, went to radiology department to get X-rays very long wait, no one is concerned about patient care, staff disengage, concerned about gossiping, on cell phone, and eating. Ask questions no one has an answer . I went to area where the head offices were and were told not to worry about my issue, what is your name., and go back to where you came. No one in the X-ray department of leadership and staff never addressed my concerns. Patient care mission statement is not adhered to in the Atlanta VA radiology department

My brother has been treated at the VA, for cancer, over the last three years. His care has been nothing short of amazing! There have been a few times we've had to wait a while, but when it was his tern he was given the time he needed, not rushed through. Doctors, PAs, Nurses, Technicians, Volunteers, all have been efficient , professional, and compassionate. My brother is now in remission for two types of cancer, and the third is under control. The VA has been a blessing to our family!

I WOULD GIVE THIS PLACE A NEGATIVE 100 STARS. AFTER 5 PHONE CALLS AND BEING ON HOLD FOR WELL OVER AN HOUR, THEY ARE ONCE AGAIN CLOSED. WHEN I DO GET THROUGH TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE, THEY ALWAYS DISCONNECT ON ME, AS USUAL. THIS IS THE SORRIEST AGENCY IN THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. OUR VETS DESERVE A HELLUVA LOT BETTER THAN THIS.

This is place is a slap in the face to all of our combat veterans including myself OIF 2005-2006. No one knows where to direct you calls. Dental doesn't answer calls just ring for 15 mins then hands up. Emergency rooms just drops your calls. Workers are bitter and rude and your not even a person to doctors you're just the last 4 of your social . They should make politicians and VA workers use this for their health care bet stuff would change after that.

I am a nurse who has both worked at the VA Medical Center (Not Atlanta, but North Carolina) and now applied for, and just got approved for medical benefits. I've spent 45 mins waiting on the phone to make my very FIRST appointment ever to try and establish a primary care doctor. All during the time I was holding, periodically the automated system would say "Please hold, and the next available representative will assist you"...blah blah. After 40 minutes, it's like the line just got shut down and went dead. No one ever came to the phone. I guess it was time to go home. The problem with the VA employees is that their jobs are secured; they know they'd have to do something MAJOR to actually get fired. So, they work as hard or little as they want to. They're pleasant if they FEEL like it. They get things done in a timely manner if it's CONVENIENT for them. So getting the best care here is hit or miss....just depends on the day...

For those who posted glowing reviews of the Atlanta VA, please leave a post on how you scheduled an appointment without going there in-person. The site seems to always have issues and I waited on hold for over an hour the past 3 times I’ve called to schedule myself an appointment. I’m so disappointed every time I call or need to deal with the VAMC. Hire more people or change your automated phone system. This is unacceptable and I know I’m not alone in my feelings.

Just spent 30 minutes on a silent line waiting for my call to be transferred to neurology by the operator so I can check on the results of an MRI I had 2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything back about. I'd like to know the status of my brain tumor to see if I have long left to live or not. I asked if anyone was there a few times and of course no response, its like the phone had been hung up but it was still connected to the call, after 30 minutes of waiting I hung up. This type of service (or lack there of) is not uncommon and it is absolute trash. Do better or find new employment. Your patients deserve better than this type of treatment.

By far the WORST VA facility I’ve ever been to. It takes anywhere from 12+ hours for URGENT care and primary physicians are a complete joke. Facility is totally unsanitary, dirty linens, blood on the floor and chair in the room I was in, needle caps and gauze laying around utterly disgusting. Truly despise this place and am happy that I reside close to other hospitals that actually know how to care for patients.

Went to apply for my VA Medical ID Card at the Eligibility office. The two receptions were great and very tentative. Now here comes the female worker to process me for my VA Medical ID. The most RUDE person I ever encountered at a hospital. She talks so fast and condescending I couldn’t understand what she was saying. When I asked her a question she snapped back at me and walked away. When I redirected my question to the receptionist she turned around and scolded me for asking a question. The receptionist looked at me embarrassed at her response. It is clear that she doesn’t not like her job nor the patients. Who’s ever her supervisor you need to deal with this person attitude. A week later, I did receive my I.D. in the mail. The quick delivery is my indication she is good at her job. Maybe she was having a bad day or I reminded her of someone she didn’t like. I change my rating to three stars.

I was ignored by Dr Goedken at Women's Health, and it led me to the ER. I think it's important I speak on this although it was a yr ago incase someone else goes through the same thing. I was seen multiple times by Women's Health due to BC complications. Although I was having complications, my appointments went well until I saw Dr.Goedken, my initial appointment she ignored my concerns and refused to examine me because I had been examined at my last appointment. She said if the problem persist we can check in 2 month, by the time a month passed I had to go to the ER to remove my BC. The VA does not have a legitimate patient advocate, I advise everyone to keep documentation of their Appointments and DR notes. When I confronted her she was unable to explain the reasoning for the examination denial. African Americans are ignored in the medical field regularly be sure to take care of yourself, because the VA won't.

One star is too deserving! The service at the emergency room is terrible! 6 hours earlier today without being seen. Now another 3 hours of just sitting and waiting being told I’m next every time I ask for an update! Veterans should not have to go through this for medical care!

We went in to get x-rays (they were ordered for us earlier in the week and just in the area) the parking lot is a little confusing since they're working on it, but once you get parked and inside it's nice. The building is clean and the signs are easy to read. We got in and out in under 30 minutes, the x-ray waiting room was empty. My husband said the lady was nice. We were surprised by how nice it was bc of all the reviews on here, but we had a good experience

I’ve been to the ER twice within the last two months and each time I will have to say that I’ve received amazing care. I was triaged right away and then given a room were all my test were also done very quickly. My only negative thing I would say about this VA hospital is how the pharmacy is handled. You have to go to one window to check in then wait 30 mins and come back up to another window to get your meds when the doctor had already called them in hours prior. Over all I got rid of my private insurance to come over to the VA and so far I am very pleased.

This is the worst VA hospital I have ever been in. Nothing works. I waited 7 hours to finally be discharged. I was in a extremely hard car accident. I had to wait for 6 hours for the doctor to just give me wack pain pills. This is the worst. I also work for the VA setting up the network for all va clinics and never thought I would have to wait this long with the treatment this terrible. DO NOT COME HERE. I WILL BE GOING TO A HIGH CHAIN OF COMMAND.

When I moved from Orlando to North GA., I had to go to the Atlanta VA Medical Center. I have to drive the 2.5 hours to get there, and have discovered that this is the WORST VA in existence!! Hospital is dingy, and it seems the ONLY people that care are the volunteers there!!! Doctors don't care, Patient Advocates don't care about the patients, and, the Director, Ann Brown certainly doesn't care about how Patients are treated!!!! Needed new eye glasses, drove to Atlanta, picked out new frames, and was told I would receive them in 3 to 4 weeks. This was May 11, and I still haven't received anything as of today, 7 July!! NINE weeks!!! If it is at all possible, stay away from the Atlanta VA Medical Center, they are the WORST!!!!!!

My husband had surgery at this hospital on 8/1/23. The care he received was excellent. I should have kept a detailed list of all the people that were part of his care. Dr. Adamson was the surgeon and we are so thankful for him. Jim Donahue and Nurse Lee from Dr Adamson's staff were very helpful. In Recovery, the nurse's name was Princess. She was so kind to my husband and to me as well. We were sent to the 9th floor and I don't know if y'all know it, but the nurses there are ANGELS! Agnes Musonera is possibly the sweetest person that I have met. She gave TOP SHELF nursing care, but she was concerned about me as well. Nursing Supervisor Examay Marjorie is a wonder. Nurse Maureen went above and beyond on the day we were released by helping us to our car so that my husband didn't have to wait for assistance while he sat in his wheelchair. We were so thankful for each and every person that helped us. I know I didn't get all the names of the people that cared for my husband but I want everyone to know that we genuinely appreciate all that you did.

The old man in the release of information department, “last name Hillman, does not know his job. He sends me to extensions that don’t exist and hang up when asked to speak to his supervisor. I needed my documents for an emergency appointment and he doesn’t want to do his job so bad, that he could care less about the patient. Why get into a job for VETERANS and you don’t want to deal with them? Not the first time he has done this in the past 3 months. He need to be FIRED!

I was transferred 3 times around the hospital to the wrong department forced to speak with voluntary service office in the legal department trying to make lemonade out of lemons I attempted to get help from the woman whom pick up the phone in the volunteer legal office. I told her my situation as far as finding a specific person whom works in her department she stated she didn't know her (the woman I was looking for name was given to me by an employee of Veteran Affairs 1800..1000 number.. so I knew this part was legit just getting it through the knuckle headed women who works here was the hard part) so I was like eff it , I begin to explain hey here is my problem I am a survivor of a hit and run and I need a lawyer who can point me in the right direction. She then begin to display contemptuous behavior stating she doesn't know how to help what lawyer will help pressuring me to reveal more information without presenting her identity. She begin to repeat back information I have told her and said if I needed help this is what I needed to tell her. I felt insulted and unheard, they practice in bad faith. Its a lot more red flags be Very Cautious Soldiers Seriously. If you are picked and treated nicely CROSS YOUR T AND DOT I's LOOK AT THE VALUE BECAUSE I CAN TELL YOU ITS WORTH MORE. Make them prove It make them work if they don't provide quality service not worth it. Read That Contract Don't Understand Make Them Explain. Please be smart Guys 🙂 . To that woman who I spoke with on Dec 23 I have scars coping with relationships of life all I wanted was a cotton ball Instead you gave me a razor. I meant what I said.

This place is really trash just as everyone else has basically said. They prescribed medication for 7 days and told me PT would reach out to make my appointment. PT reaches out 8 days later and says I can't be seen for 2 months and then gets rude and hangs up on me when I ask if there is any way I can get a refill for my prescription since it will be such a long wait to be seen. I call the pharmacy and they direct me to the emergency room to speak with the doctor, the ER person tells me I can't request a Refill over the phone and would have to come back in and wait 6 hrs to be seen just for medication refill. It is absolutely absurd

bad service does not even come close to what the people at the Atlanta VA. it is a dirty place filled with employees that do not know their job. that transfer you to other department that do not know their job. it seems that they hire people to transfer you to departments that phones do not work or phones that are full or hang up or are none working numbers at the VA. it seems as though you need to slip someone a 20 to get service. and you need to understand these employee's dont work for veterans they works for the VA. hm hmmm. you got that right. dont you forget it. aint no one looking over me and no accountability at all. they are all collecting their paychecks and you better be happy about it.

The staff treat you as though you are bothering them. They are rude and could care less about providing adequate care. Then people wonder why veterans act out. The VA centers are not providing the adequate care needed. The mental health doctor on call turned me away and I was in crisis. My advocate had to call and get a referral. I was harassed by one of the police officers while in the waiting area at 3am minding my own business. The triage nurse had to come outside and help me. Just horrible experiences one after the other. Not sure why these people opt to work with veterans if they do not like their jobs. This is why people act out.

Call center operators are the worst I have ever encountered. I have had them answer and then hang up immediately multiple times in a row, forward me to a voicemail before I am done talking, not friendly, cold, and obviously do not care, average wait time is 45min and longest I have waited was 2 hours (only to be hung up on). You wonder why people get upset with the VA??

Lazy ER doctors lack of communication with the nurses . I ask the nurse taking my blood what exactly is the doctor testing for she said ,” oh I don’t know I didn’t look .” I told the doctor the reason for my visit and he didn’t want to give me test because he said ,” it pointless you in a specific doctor “ ... sir do the ultrasound give me me some information . “I just ask the nurse hey how is my iron she said “ I don’t know how to read it I’m just the tester “ like what in the world VA this is unsatisfactory . They are also running around with their heads cut off not know which patients are in one room.

Just transferred from California to Georgia and my experience with this hospital so far has been outstanding. Staff is professional and gave us hungry ones a sack lunch. I was able to make appointments on my own without referrals from primary care. The only way I could get inside hospital was to go thru E.R. I had to think of something cuz I needed meds and I got them.

I was in a car accident last week. I went to Piedmont ER in McDonough, I was waiting over 3 hours when I decided to come to the VA. The moment I walked in the staff was very helpful on directing me to the front desk. The nursing staff was incredible as well. Kept me informed, kind and patience. People tend to always speak on the negative but never on the positive. Thank you for everything.

I've never felt more welcome in a hospital. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to feel like they are getting the best care. Thank you VA of Decatur for your kindness.

One of four one-star (out of five stars) VA hospitals in the country according to the Dept. of Veterans Affairs internal rating system. 10-20 minute waits for just the operator/switchboard. Primary care which does not pick up the phone. It is nearly impossible to be seen here unless you go through the ER, who will then refer you back to primary care which, again, does not respond. Many of the clinics are overworked to the point of breaking. Morale, and therefore general give-a-d*mn, is exceedingly low. If a private hospital were run like this it would be inundated with lawsuits. The DVA is well aware that this facility gives massively substandard service, yet has not fixed the situation. This is when apathy and dismissiveness can kill.

the Atlanta VA currently employee's BLM activist who openly call for the death of the Jews. calls for the destruction of the Jewish people. a major investigation needs to be done to get rid of anyone associated with hate groups that support hamas like BLM does openly. Well you can get service it you slip someone a 20 dollar bill. the staff makes these statements: we dont do that thats a different department than the transfer's 45-2 hour wait time to get transferred to the wrong department get transferred to a number that does not work transferred to a non working number at the VA transferred to a full answering machine transferred to someone that will not identify transferred to service center in another state getting sent the wrong meds, waiting months for appointments, getting hung up on. talking with people that do not know their job, not answering messages, not answering WH complaints. the entire management staff was fired and they got the same people back in. if they got to get out of their chair you aint getting service. the employee's know its bad the good ones leave fast the bad ones have found a home at the Atlanta VA. people die here people get attacked here. no one knows what they are doing

Terrible service. No communication when trying to understand why I am in pain. Alarms from the machines going off and no one come to turn them off. Then they were about to discharge me without speaking to me about the diagnosis. I thought we were supposed to be treated better than this......truly disappointed.

I love the VA Medical Center. I have been a member at the VA for over 20 + years. I am in a clean bill of health overall. My doctor is great, and she responds to all of my needs as soon as she can. Yes. The parking can be full at times, but I always find space. I am grateful for the VA because it is free health care and it doesn't get any better than that. They are also now paying the medical bill if you happen to not make it to there hospital. Anyway, I pray for all veterans, and I am glad to be a veteran. GOD bless the VA and the staff.

The Atlanta VA Hospital saved my life. It draws it's medical staff from Emory University and the Morehouse School of Medicine, two medical training programs that I highly admire. The doctors, Physician Assistants, Nurses I encountered genuinely seem to care about me and my "brothers and sisters." Why only 4 out of 5 stars? 1) One reviewer commented about the phone system. IT IS SNAFU, some progress has been made of late in rectifying the problems, but if the phone system was in a corporate environment some former telecom system administrator would be asking the question "tall, grande, venti?" a hundred times a day. 2) The VA is a very large government administration, perhaps there are a few too many people who manage to make it through each week just to get a paycheck. The problems seem to be on the clerical side of the business not the professional side. The Atlanta VA hospital takes care of a lot of veterans each day. Our life situations vary from good to rock bottom bad. Wait times can seem long depending upon when you arrive. Fill out the quality, assurance questionnaires that are mailed out each time you visit, give the Powers- That-Be constructive criticism so they can act. I have seen things improving over the last 3 years, at least in the Atlanta Hospital. The Veterans Administration is our Veterans Administration.

I've used the Atlanta VA since 1995, I've always been treated well other then the constant changing of Dr's, sometimes 3 or 4 times a year, the one major problem I had this Januarythe 17th, was I was having a really hard time, bad enough to effect my family and I called for over a week just to get the appointment for the 17th, when I tried to explain my troubles and feelings with the troubles it was causing at home I don't feel it was understood or taking seriously. I was prescribed a medication to help but was given a prescription so I could get it that day, instead it was mailed, so my family and I had 8 more days of problems that I or they could have avoided if as I believe my situation had been understood or taking more seriously. I truly feel I was let down this time by what's call tel-a-health. But my local mental health clinic doesn't have a mental health Dr on site. That to me and several others that have spoken to me about this TV Dr appointments isn't a real benefit to those who use it, or to those who are forced to use it or simply find another mental health Dr outside the VA which most of us can't afford or just do without and hope for the best.

I've been calling for the past five days stay on hold for two plus hours only to have someone answer the phone just to hang up, I never know it's this hard just to get my non-narcotic medication. Thankfully my doctor could send it to me. because if it's up to this va pharmacy I'll probably have a stroke already, the lock of care given is none, maybe if I used no va service I'll always have better care.

Apparently I have a brain tumor, but of course the VA couldn't be bothered to call and talk to me about it. I had to receive a letter then look up the report on the website. I tried to call the Patient Advocate, but they don't answer and don't have a messaging service...so the patient advocate # on the website is literally just a number that does nothing. I guess that explains why their quality of care is so low that even people with brain tumors don't receive a phone call.

They tell you to get a referral instead of calling the crisis line. You try to get a referral for mental health and they treat you as though you are bothering them. You have to jump through hoops to get some assistance. The military does not take care of their own. You get messed up from being in the military and then they treat you as a throw away. You want to stay healthy so you do not call the crisis line, but they push you to the point where you act out just to get some assistance. They do not want to keep you healthy. These people are horrible!

Disgusting and horrible. The staff treats patients as subhuman and intellectually incompetent. They don’t care about their patients, they’re rude, they act like their patients are burdens as if it’s not their job!!! It is so saddening to see how they treat vets. If you advocate for yourself they will be visibly frustrated, they just want people to roll over like dogs. The Only kind/helpful people were those at the reception desk.

I swear to God, I am not making this up. I went to this Atlanta,Va. One of the doctors here examined me. The doctor asked me to open my mouth to say Ahh, and used his personal cell phone flash light to check the inside of my mouth. I know it sounds krazy, but its true. This is why the services at the Va are free.... Free service means, bare minimal doctors. Bare minimal nurses. Bare minimal customer service. I rather just go to a urgent care clinic, or another hospital and pay the co pay fee up front. At least if im paying I can get better treatment and better service.
