Beautiful park! We really enjoyed our stay in the campground. Sites are pretty close together but luckily we didn’t have many neighbors since we went during the week. Showers are hot and clean! No Verizon cell service majority of our time! Great nature trails and even saw an alligator in the marina!

Beautiful nature! A variety of camping and cottages with a nice store for sundries. The boat tours are awesome, and motorized boats, canoes and kayaks can be rented.

There are three entrances to the Okefenokee Swamp, and the state park one near Fargo, GA seems to be the least trafficked. The boat tours are cheaper here than anywhere else, and there's less in the way of trails. It might be better for camping and fishing than for tourism. My experience was mostly one of noisy children. There is one "trembling earth" nature trail behind the visitor center, which is nice, and the visitor center shop is nice. But there are only two boat tours a day during the week, at 10 and 2. I think there's three on the weekends, at 9, 11, and 2. But it also seems to depend. It's an out of the way place and I had a hard time getting a tour - so far I haven't managed it, which is the biggest reason for the 4-star rating. It doesn't seem very user-friendly.

Wow. I cannot say enough nice things about the staff here. Bryan and Joseph were extremely helpful this morning as I was trying to get my camper van started. They were patient and kind and good-humored while I flummoxed my way through a rudimentary problem. The park itself is beautiful and well worth at least one night stay. The campground facilities are well-maintained and very quiet.

This is a great place for a change of pace. It is unique in many ways, with beautiful scenery, and wildlife to enjoy. The staff at the park are friendly, make a real effort to assist where needed and have a strong focus on visitors enjoying their stay. We rented a cabin and found it to be clean, comfortable and adequately appointed. We took the boat tour and rented a boat on our own. Both outings provided great views of birds, alligators and vistas across the landscape. We left the area relaxed and ready for a new adventure!

Went for a little winter weekend camping and Stephen C Foster State Park was such a great choice! The facilities are super clean, the campsites are great, and the staff is friendly. Plus, it's amazingly dark. The night sky here is lovely. I went in January so the bugs were minimal which was great for myself and my two dogs. But do be aware there's a lot of wildlife...foxes, gators, bears, and more, so keep the pups close and tethered. I highly recommend bringing or renting a kayak. The swamp is beautiful without much of a current.

The park is beautiful and quiet! Clean area with friendly staff and a nice gift shop (trading post). The kids enjoyed the play ground and boat ride the most. We saw 6 alligators! This park is the least expensive of the 3 and is much more open and seems to be more untouched. This one is my favorite!

Beautiful remote park and primary entrance to Okefenokee Swamp. A must see. Spanish moss laced trees are beautiful. Perfect place to disconnect from the world and enjoy Mother Earth. Great hiking trails, nice campground and friendly staff….#NeverStopExploring. 🎣🚣‍♀️🚤🚴🌞🏕🐠🥾🏃🏽‍♀️🌌❤️

The park was a nice get away. The comfort stations were some of the cleanest and nicest to use. Amazing trails to hike and perfect for if you bring your dog. We saw five dear on our two night stay. Our camp site was clean easy to find. I will add that some of the camp sites are very close to each other so be prepared to hear everything your camp neighbors are saying. I will also add that in our camp site number 11 all of our tent stakes got destroyed because the ground is so hard or a layer of rock is under it. Our stakes were not flimsy cheap ones either, so this was a shock to say the least. In all we had a great time. Be sure you have everything you need before you head out because this place is far out in the middle of nowhere.

Fantastic wildlife. Saw 40+ alligators on a boat ride, along with several unique types of birds. Walking around the campground, we saw deer every day along with a few owls. We visited in the middle of August, so temperatures were scorching during the heat of the day, but on a 4 day trip, we only had one encounter with a yellow fly. Bugs were almost a non issue in the heat. The reflections of trees on the black water are incredible.

What an AMAZING place! After trying to convince my wife to go to the swamp for years, she finally relented. She is ready to go back already. We camped for a week and extended for another day. The guided boat trip was fun and the boat captain was knowledgeable and entertaining. We just had to rent a boat for ourselves and head over to Billy's Island. It was worth the time and provided historical context to the swamp logging in the early 20th century. The hiking was limited (due to the swap) but really great. The people at the trading post were very friendly and helpful. This park is well off the beaten path and a long way from many modern conveniences like cell service & restaurants. No sweat, just come prepared.

It's a nature lovers paradise. Lots of wide and well maintained trails. Boat tour is awesome with a lot of information about the swamp. Plenty of wildlife roaming around. Clear night skies are great for stargazing. Campsites are very private and well maintained. Only downside is no phone service. Highly recommend.

Stephen C. Foster State Park is a beautiful area out in the middle of nowhere in the Okefenokee Swamp! Miles and miles off the main road from Fargo, GA you’ll come across the visitor center. From there, you can get a map, purchase items from their gift shop from local Georgia sellers, begin a short walk, or take out your boat and explore! There are tons of activities to do here at the park, but one thing to be aware of is SPIDERS! When I visited, they were everywhere!! Look where you’re walking or else you might walk face-first into a huge spiderweb… I went on the little walk down the boardwalk from the visitor center. I was fortunate enough to see a deer super close - you might as well if you visit! It was a beautiful walk through the flooding swampland, and it was neat to come all the way to the end where the boardwalk was just gone. It really looked like you walk to the edge of nowhere! Be careful for alligators - when I was there, I wasn’t paying attention while taking a video, and when I turned around I saw an alligator VERY close to me - maybe 10-15 feet. He was swimming to the shoreline and was almost ashore before I started yelling to make him go away. That could’ve been bad. Keep a good eye on your dog or kids! All in all, it’s a great place to visit if you’re already in the area. It’s one of those places you need to go to once because it’s literally at the end of the road in the middle of nowhere, and it’s just cool to tell people you went all the way there on the map!

If you want to get away from civilization, and truly experience the Okefenokee Swamp, this is the place to go. The camping area is nicely spaced and very quiet. Due to weather we did not get to experience the dark night sky. The boat trip from the park store was very good and informative.

This looks like a wonderful place to get away. It looks like a great place to kayak, hike, and go biking. We seen an alligator, an owl, and other small animals. We took a short hike .75 miles. It was nice and the boardwalk was great.

The entire parking lot was flooded and made the trails inaccessible. The place needs a competent civil engineer to remedy the localized flooding there. That doesn’t explain why the stone marker isn’t maintained tho..

If you're looking for a peaceful, scenic getaway, then this is the perfect place! No cell service, so if you're tied to the internet or need to be close to your phone, then this isn't the place for you.

Probably one of my favorite state parks. Alligators, deer, 120 miles of swamp to explore, a dark skies park, and out in the middle of nowhere (i.e., no cell service) - can't beat that. Sites are all pretty big and spaced out. Visitors center is basic but rents out canoes, kayaks, and 10hp boats + they do boat tours. There is a nice pavilion area with picnic area and horseshoes, corn hole, and Texas horseshoes. Be aware that this state park is in the middle of a National Wildlife Area and that gate closes at 10pm so no getting in or our after that.

What a treasure! Cell service spotty. Clean bathrooms. The campground is so peaceful. Great place to bird watch. Cool boat tour. I also rented a boat and took it out on the water? Beautiful in every way.

A lovely place to camp and spend time in nature. The facilities are clean, the sites are well maintained, the staff is friendly and there is plenty of paths to walk on. They also have boat rentals and a small store on site. Every time we go, we see wildlife. The ability to see the stars so clearly at night has been the highlight of many camping nights. We camp with tents and have had the best time! I would recommend this place to anyone with any kind of setup

We had a fabulous time. Alex treated us well and gave us an amazing tour on the swamp and taught us so many different things. We absolutely loved every part of the experience. The cabins were nice and clean and we even got to see some gators and go stargazing.

Beautiful park, only downfall was no sewer (yes, we're spoiled) and little to no cell service and/or internet. We stayed 4 days, 3 nights and that was just right. Saw some wildlife, deer, gators & birds. It was pretty warm which I think was a factor. Mosquito's were pretty bad, some horsefly's. Think we would have enjoyed it much more in cooler months.

Very clean and well maintained sites. Our nights were very quiet. Great place to star gaze with a new moon. Tons of wildlife to see. Bring kayaks! Waterways easy to navigate. Paths are very well marked and clear. Comfort Station is awesome.

👍👍 Dan took us on a botanical tour of the swamp. He was super knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Beautiful day out on the water and lots of alligator and other wildlife spotting.
