Epitome of local, laid-back dive of a coffee klatch. Plenty of uniqueness and the complete opposite of a chain. The only thing uniform are the letters on the menu. Mismatch furniture that delights or repels. Coffee is good, I guess -- my unsophisticated palate can only discern the presence or absence of caffeine. Good background music. Hard for you to tell but I do like Joe's.

Very retro-style coffee house the only comments I have are.on the service and overall establishment I do not drink coffee. There are places to sit outside and drink. This is a great place to bring laptop there were plenty of seating, plugs and the wifi was pretty strong! I did order a.vegan carrot cake which was very delicious. Place is cool will come again and recommend.

Visiting from Toronto and needed a cafe to work. This spot was perfect! They had extension cords/power bars throughout the cafe, so regardless of where I sat, I would have a power source. Great croissants & coffee in a relaxing atmosphere. The staff are also incredibly warm and pleasant.

Really delicious coffee and a fantastic array of breakfast eats, flavours, and non-dairy milks. The staff is really kind and full of cool people. It’s a great place to get work done, with plenty of seating, cool art and décor, nice lighting, and really good music. I highly recommend when in EAV!

BY FAR(!) THE BEST COFFEE SHOP I KNOW OF IN ATL. I am a diva about service, food, and context. Best coffee: Intelligentsia. Best service: the barista are NOT pretentious or lame, which is somewhat rare for a good cafe. Best floor-plan: plenty of room; couches, desks, chairs, tables - indoor and outdoor. Best fellow customers: the customer are regular people - not pretentious, which is rare; the floor-plan gives everyone space to breathe. Excellent pastries. Excellent programming: they have events I gather. Good parking. Good neighborhood. Decent kombucha.

Love this spot. Cozy and neighborhood(y). Used to study here years ago...the vibe hasn't changed much (a great thing). Delicious lattes with milk alternative options. Ample seating inside and out back. I love the local spots and feel thankful they exist.

What a rad coffeeshop. It was my first time in and I was taken with the great music taste, awesome atmosphere, back patio and the kind people working. I also love this shop's commitment to social justice. Finally, the latte was delicious. Great spot.

What I just witnessed.. this establishment will always get my support and money. Not only was my chai tea amazing, the atmosphere is peaceful, and I absolutely love how they treat the community residents- especially our low income residents. They treat them with dignity and kindness. I absolutely loved it and truly put a huge smile of my face. Humanity exists and this place definitely reflected that.

A fun and funky East Atlanta Village coffee shop with an amazing selection of baked goods from Emerald City Bagels right across Glenwood Avenue, along with the largest and flakiest croissants outside of France. The perfect place to relax with a mug of coffee or enjoy an eclectic crowd as you type away on your laptop.

This is how you do a coffee shop. My decaf mocha was spot on and the muffin hit the spot. There was a slight wait only because so many people were in line. Definitely worth it. I'd hang out here every day if I could : )

very real place, not generic in any way! employees are fun and the people are spirited and lively. college students, and professors, artists, and real people of every kind. no time for labels, real people who don't need drama. Relaxed and fun and lots of calm, friendly people not in a hurry and not obsessed!

UPDATE: Indoor seating now open again! Joe’s is a pillar of the Atlanta coffee shop scene, of EAV, and embodies the word “establishment.” It’s quirky flare reflects its neighborhood to the core. A business that could not be more deserving of your support.

Best coffee in East Atlanta/East Lake, hands down. Consistent espresso shots, clearly dialed in by experienced baristas. Amazing staff that even makes someone like me (severe social anxiety) comfortable. Just good people all around paired with delicious coffee.

Apparently the cool couple that owned it for years are gone. No sitting inside anymore still to this day. Ordered an americano and it was 90 percent water, didn't even re pack the beans when they pulled the shot ...its sad to see your favorite place crash and burn. :-(

I came to this coffee shop last night and ordered my drink and it tasted amazing, then I came in the next morning to order the same thing and it tasted off. When I went to tell them about it the lady was being very rude and had such an ugly attitude; it’s now how I excepted to be treated as they were very nice the night before. I’m not sure why it’s so hard to just be nice :/

Comfortable East Atlanta Village coffee shop, deducting one star for difficulty parking. You pretty much need to find somewhere on the street, not easy in EAV most of the time. There is plenty of seating, lots of people there alone with their laptops. I don't think they offer free refills on brewed coffee, at least I was charged for mine when I took my cup up for a refill. I added a tasty if small and pricy savory pie, which they happily toasted for me.

Love this little dive of a coffee shop. The coffee was great. The Creation of Adam is painted on the ceiling and the staff was cool. What more do you want?

Everything was a 5 star experience except for the large cappachino I ordered was tiny. Overall the experience and their products were amazing. Best blueberry muffin I think I have ever had. Let them warm it up for you, you’ll love it.

Nice spot to study or work remotely. Chill East Atlanta vibes which I enjoyed.

Customer service is poor. Drinks are decent but Starbucks pricing and seems to be half the size. Staff could care less about the customers and the line. Really tried to like this place and give it multiple chances but with so many coffee options around, I choose to spend my $$ on overpriced coffee somewhere that the staff care enough to at least say good morning once they are done playing in their phones.

I came in on a Monday around 5:30p and they were doing open mic stand up comedy. That was pretty cool. My coffee was delicious and the barista was friendly.

This place is a gem tucked away in the busy nightlife of EAV! The staff is all very kind, they have plenty of space inside and out, and their front patio makes for great people watching. They have one of the best iced chais I’ve ever had!

The coffee was fine… nothing to rave about. Whatever flavor they use for the vanilla is not good, however. Not quite worth the prices. I liked the inside though, a cozy ambiance. Wish they used mugs for lattes.

Came in and from first glance the space is cozy and inviting. Absolutely makes you feel like you’re at home. I spoke with Molly who made me a mocha Frappuccino with vanilla and chocolate drizzle and whip cream on top. From speaking with Molly, as well as who I believe was the manager I felt nothing but a hospitable feel from both of them if you’re looking for an inviting coffee shop experience this is where you want to come. My frappe tasted extremely well balanced. All meshed really well with one another, and nothing tasted like it overpowered one over the other. I definitely recommend!

The customer service is amazing. Everyone is always very kind and helpful. Great environment and great energy. The lattes are amazing. Love the in house made syrups!

Great atmosphere for working. Always full of people on their laptops, relaxing music, couches, desks, and great coffee. I like the environment better than Starbucks.

My favorite coffee shop in ATL. Have been coming here since elementary school and still love it. It's changed ownership since then, and the vibe is still great. Used to come every Sunday morning with my family and have great memories. Good, strong coffee (their beans make great a great gift!) and lots of other non or less caffeinated beverages. Excellent cake selection as well. This place basically taught me how to drink coffee. Started with a super sweet frappe and worked up to lattes (not much has changed, LOL).

I'm a coffee lover if I could give this establishment a 10 star then you would see that rating, unfortunately I can only give it a five but with my words I can definitely give it a 10 great taste try both hot or cold. Joe's coffee shop always satisfied my caffeine craze!!!! Warm and welcoming environment and the baristas are friendly and accurate.

Great coffee, friendly baristas, and a wonderful setup for remote working folks like me, who need a little break from the isolation of the home office.

Usually a chill vibe. Local art adorns the walls of the rustic brick structure.Great drinks, breads, and empanadas! Price is comparable or lower than surrounding coffeehouses/shops.

Love Joe’s! Service, staff is ‘so’ cool! Also love the jewelry for sale (ask for puma) their treats are delish and I am SO happy they are in my hood! About to head up now and get a white chocolate cherry frappe— yum!

I have visited this coffee shop around 10xs since I discovered it 2 months ago. The coffee is amazing & I hate I ever even tasted the cake — soooooo good! I can’t stop eating it. Also, the employees here are super sweet & always seem so happy to be there.

The coffee here is not worth it. The bean is burnt and the caramel latte is too sweet. For what it worths, they are not as welcoming. The neighborhood is filled with people begging for money and getting high all days. Not sure I will come back here again

The best coffee in town. Their miracle milk combo is perfection. Empanadas are delicious (cheese & onion are my fav so far). Friendly workers. Hope for them to open back up fully when safe to do so.

Joe’s East Atlanta Coffee Shop acted as the visitor’s center of EAV for me. First time in the neighborhood I was welcomed with a bright, earthy Flecha Roja Colombian coffee which was only $2.35 for a medium. The roasted bean suppliers are Intelligentsia, which I’ve seen all over Atlanta, but Joe’s has a wide variety of options. They have the largest croissants I’ve seen in my life (25 years exactly as of today, thanks for the HBD). This place was popping with people hanging out and also getting some work done on a Saturday morning. Solid spot all around.

Joe's is hands down the best coffee I have ever had in my life! I got very lucky that my early morning walk happened to bring me by here. I'm only in Atlanta for a few days but I will be at Joe's every morning. There was a slight wait only because so many people were in line. Definitely worth any wait!

My coffee, empanada, and Hummingbird bread was awesome. I was told that the Zucchini bread was also good. The lady that took my order was very friendly and helpful as well. I will return and have already told friends about my experience.

Pretty good coffee. Wish the cups of coffee were bigger but very good quality. Empanadas were different then i was expecting but very tasty.

Great spot for coffee and amazing smoothies! Would love to see more gluten free options!

Good coffee, fair price. Only issue is wait was long, took 20 minutes to get a cold brew and an espresso.

  • 4/5 Manasvini S. 2 years ago on Google
The coffee shop seems like a neighborhood hang out spot with chill vibes, which is nice. The cappuccino was a tad bit too hot and a good bit milkier than other places.
