DO NOT waste your time & health by making an appt here. If this place was a business, it would be bankrupt!! I have been taking my 82 year old mother here for a year for macular degeneration. We spend an average 4-6 hours for scheduled doc visit & eye exam that should take only 2-hours at most. Complete disconnect between scheduling & patient. They arbitrarily change floor check in & reverse Dr. appt. & testing appt.’s extending your original appt.’s by hours. Zero communication by scheduling or doctor office. Always an ALL DAY EVOLUTION !!!😡

I do not recommend the Emory Eye Center to anyone. My son has complex medical conditions and this place is about an hour away from our house. My wife and I decided to both be there at the appointment so we could hear what the doctor has to say about our son. Upon arrival, the receptionist checked us in and then said that only one parent is allowed in the waiting room and the other parent has to wait in a different part of the building. I politely responded with why is the policy more restrictive than it was six months ago and why have we not been told about this new policy? The receptionist was very rude and said that there is a sign when you walk into the center and that this policy has always been in place but it has only recently been enforced. My wife and I proceeded to talk about what we wanted to do and ultimately decided to leave when the receptionist informed us that she was going to call security on my wife. My wife was very upset and rightfully so because we both took off work and now one of us cannot be at our son’s appointment. We are tired of the covid excuses. If both parents want to be involved with the care of their child then they should be able to go to all of their appointments. Please look at other eye clinics for your children and take them to a place that you as parents will be respected and treated fairly.

I had complications after cataract surgery and the surgeon refused to make an appointment available for six months. They relented after another ophthalmologist verified I had complications from Dr. Wells surgery. Lack of follow up care makes this a dangerous place to be treated.

If negative stars were possible. My son was referred to this office at less than a year old and had multiple appointments that lasted well over 2 hours, one I believe approached 6 hours, with an infant!! He is now 3 and has follow-ups that we completely dread. We purposely try to get the first appointment in the morning only to still usually wait 2 hours from start to finish. The staff and doctors usually seemed bothered and rude when you questioned why it takes so long, so my advice is if at all possible find another office!

ZERO STARS!! If you're able to, I would suggest go to another location. I made the earliest appointment available since I work normal business hours of 9:30am-6pm. My appointment was set for 7:15am for my daughter. I arrived at 6:30am and waited outside the door until they unlocked the doors which happened to be at 7am. I completed all my paperwork prior to 7:15am and waited to be called. About five people came in after me, filled out their paperwork and was called to the back while I was STILL sitting there waiting! I asked the receptionist when we're they going to call me back, because I was the first one here. She told me my appointment was set for 7:15am for me to get here and fill out the paperwork, but my actually appointment is at 7:30am. Okay, no problem thus far. The issue came when 15 minutes AFTER 7:30am came. I was considerate of their time, however they were not considerate of mine. I will most definitely be taking my business elsewhere. YOU WILL RESPECT MY TIME. I'm a hard working individual and I take pride of getting places on time and I expect the same in return!!

This is the slowest clinic. While I understand how I can be in a hospital, it’s unacceptable. The staff is incredibly rude to patients and it appears to be unorganized. Just a couple of weeks ago, my dad had to get surgery. We went here because he was told at first to be here. They couldn’t find him on the list when he checked in at first. We waited in the room for a little over an hour until the surgery office called him to tell him he was in the wrong place. Why did no one tell us that when he checked in? The desk then called me halfway through my dad’s surgery, 2 hours after we got there, to tell us that we were in the wrong place. Thanks for the heads up.

The quality of service at this location is subpar to be direct. I have had to call the prescription office 4 times only to not get the correct prescription that is in my chart. When I call the office, I am placed on a long wait, (20 minutes), without coming back on the line to at least to let me know I have not been forgotten. I really dont know what happened to Emory's screening of its employees prior to hire.

As others have mentioned, please DO NOT waste your time with these people. Some of the worlds best doctors barricaded by incompetent, smug and lazy staff members. The nightmare of my situation is too long to mention here, but in short, we found out 48 hours prior to my sons surgery that the office/surgery scheduler had done nothing in 8 weeks for the proper documentation. Now we’re facing a self-pay situation or having to go somewhere else and start all over again. Run away!!

06/29/2022. Bldg B From the time I arrived it was a horrible experience just asking how to get to my appointment. They act as if you are a bother and take up your time with petty behavior. I had an appointment with Dr. Kim. and Carolyn was the person I had a problem with just trying to check in for my appointment. I drove over two hours and she took up my time with petty behavior, poor customer service, arrogance and a very complacent attitude. She was rude and dismissive. She intentionally took her time had me waiting and went into another room twice for a long time was laughing with another colleague while I'm standing at the check in with people behind me waiting as well. I asked for Administrator through another rep and she said she was the Lead person and asked me to let her assist me first. The petty behavior was making an issue of my former last name although I provided 2 ids to include drivers license and VA medical id verifying my identity. During my exam with a technician a Lady came in and was very upset about her long wait time. The Technicians laughed after the frustrated patient went back to her seating area. The doctors were informative but some of the staff of the hospital are just street ghetto in scrubs. You have to practice alot of patience and tolerance to get through a visit and these are very stressful times and they do not make it any easier and sadly in a hospital setting no less. The staff I observed and encountered came across as non caring, arrogant and complacent using the hospital for their entertainment and hiding behind their job security. Those staff provoke patients frustration with unnecessary long wait time and talking at patients. The valet cashier was rude and arrogant. It took forever to recieve my car and it appeared it had been driven because I had just filled up before I left for my appointment. Overall they are very unprofessional.

My granddaughter was to have surgery today. We had appointment per Emory. This is second trip from S.E.GEORGIA. I will not or can not recommend this place for anything. Emory used to be known as a #1 hospital. I give it a-10.

We saw the most horrible doctor. Yes your child has this condition, but we will not treat him. He probably had it his whole life and it will just keep getting worse (he hasn't as he has many other doctors who would have noticed it.) Well does he have a new RX from glasses? "Yes. But we won't tell you, just go somewhere else to get the prescription we already calculated because we won't treat your child." So we have to make another appointment and go somewhere else to get glasses even thought they figured out the new prescription. He was arrogant, condescending, and showed absolutely no care for a 15 year old who is losing function of his eyes. Yes there is treatment but you need to just go somewhere else because we won't treat your child. We have insurance, we paid them $40 copay to be treated like our child and his vision means nothing to them at all.

Don't even try calling. I've scheduled countless doctor's appointments over the phone and this was by far the worst experience. The person on the phone was super rude and the connection was terrible. They can't even give you any appointment availability info until they collect an insane amount of personal info. After wasting ten minutes collecting more info than I've ever been asked, I was put on a five minute hold and the music was extremely loud and grating because of the poor connection. All of that just to tell me their first availability is in June! They also had a lot of complicated instructions and wanted me to have my doctor fax over a bunch of stuff and then I would have to call back again to confirm the fax. Just inefficient, unpleasant, and a waste of time. Called another eye doctor immediately after and was easily able to make an appointment in two days time.

No one ever calls back or answers the phone. Just had eye surgery the doctor was wonderful on that part and been needing someone to correct my eye for 10+ years but trying to get someone to answer your questions is an act in congress and absolutely ridiculous and bad business. Was trying to reach someone for a week + prior to surgery - heard nothing - and still never got a call back after numerous messages. Today I am having issues with this prescription they proscribed - nothing of course. This is unacceptable. The lack of communication as a business and especially a hospital is not professional or acceptable.

Two weeks following my pre-surgery visit, where I was assured by the doctor that a scheduling nurse would follow-up with me that same day; I never received a follow-up. I called the center at Briarcliff the next day, and the nurse on-duty assured me that the scheduler was just waiting for my form to come in so she could get me booked. I still haven't received a follow-up from the scheduling nurse, and my surgery was supposed to have occurred last week (according to the doctor). I suppose by now I shouldn't be surprised at the lack of diligence, follow-up, or basic customer service at an Atlanta business; I guess I just expected better from a major healthcare provider.

Beware and avoid this clinic at all costs. They are both sloppy and have absolutely no respect for you or your time. My father waited for 4 hours for a 10 minutes laser procedure today, and this is not the first time… during this time they attempted to treat the eye they previously treated. At my last appointment, I also waited for 2 hours and then had to return because my prescription was so off that I literally could not see… and then had to wait yet another hour and 1/2 to be seen. Not a single apology … not for the incorrect prescription, not for attempting a procedure on the incorrect eye…. Not for the hours of our time that have been wasted.

They made to wait my autistic child for 3 hours last week . He was so much overwhelmed and crying the whole time . I wished they had a quite room or arranged something for my son ! Even though I went and said them , they told us to stay calm as parents , if he is autistic, and crying it is what it is ! Not to worry about other adults . I was never focused on other people . I was focused on my 3 year old . I wanted it to be a quick visit . We checked in at 3 pm and left at 6pm . Why do you take so many patients in a day when you can’t accommodate all . Being in healthcare you should be able to provide a quite room for special needs !

It’s the slowest office. Arrive on time for your appointment. Spend 45 minutes in a waiting room to be called into another smaller waiting room. Wait another hour. Talk to some techs. Go back to the waiting area. Wait another 45 minutes. Now you will finally see your doctors for 8 minutes. If they have to take pics of your eyes you may have to go up out downstairs. Now you have to wait in line. Sit and wait another 45 minutes. And to check out you can wait in line or call in. You will be here for 4 hours. So make sure to eat. They schedule 10 patients at the same time. It really goes by whoever came first. You will irritated and lightheaded

Bonnie B. Lowery, MD Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology Glaucoma and Comprehensive Services Atlanta Veterans Affairs Medical Center - she has no compassion no tolerance and should be avoided at all costs. Someone with such an ugly attitude should not even be able to care for patients. This woman should not even be able to be a doctor the way that she speaks to other people.

The experience has been absolutely awful. They have no respect for the patients time-keep calling you back to the office, extremely long wait times even with appointments. Poor customer service. It's sad because the doctors seem great, but I would not go back there due to the supporting staff and the overall awful experience. If you have a choice- try somewhere else. Giving it a 2 because I actually like the doctors- but let's face it, many doctors can do cataract surgery.

I would to give them stars but everytime I call I'm on hold for 30 to 40 minutes and when I come up in cue and connect to the office the person literally picks the phone up and hangs it up. Horrible customer service. This continued happening until I pressed make a payment instead of new patient...got someone then.. and to my surprise it was just the front desk.. not a separate department. If u don't wanna take new patients just say that.. but don't waste peoples time. I guess all the bad reviews for this establishment is valid.

All the complaints go somewhere else and enjoy your second rate Healthcare. Have you ever considered the reason why the clinics are alway full of waiting patients? Perhaps because Emory is known for being top tier when it comes to health care and don't forget some of the smartest future doctors schooling at Emory.

While at Emory Transplant I suffered a torn retina. I immediately went to the ER and was immediately helped by the ER doctor and sent to the eye clinic and I was seen by Doctor Hubbard who then immediately performed a procedure to repair my torn and detached retina by injecting a gas bubble into my eye. The total time from my injury to my finished procedure was less than 4 hours. These doctors, nurses and other technicians are absolutely amazing in their ability and compassion. They are the best in Atlanta and possibly the USA. I highly recommend the Emory Eye Center.

No billing transparency or ability to predict what something costs even if you go through insurance pre-approval. They bill you more than double what was estimated and when you call the billing office, they say they say they are the billing office and what was estimated to you was between the insurance and the physician's office. If you call insurance, they say they cannot control what the provider bills you. So you need to trace the CPT codes that were billed and what was approved but at this point it is too late because they have already performed the treatment and they'll try to collect - you're on the hook. That's the nature of the grift.

I want to start off by saying this medical practice was incredible. I worked in the medical field before I became disabled and I know how a medical facility is supposed to be ran. The doctor and medical and her whole team were very knowledgable they answered all of my questions, very patient and kind. I didn't have to wait but 5 minutes to go back, they really took the time to take care of me. They were very sanitary and clean. The best medical facility I have been to besides Emory neuro surgery and they were awesome too.

Sat in the waiting room for over 1.5 hours past my scheduled appointment and was never called. Overbooked way over their means and then wants you there within 15 minutes of your scheduled time. They are just cramming people in with no means of being punctual. Do not support this find another facility and provider.

As a working man who does his job to support the Healthcare workers and the various medical teams, I am outraged at the way EMORY as a whole has been rude and incompassionate towards my family. A year ago my wife made an appointment with the vision center. Since then my wife has been waiting months to hear back from charity care because the vision center doesn't take any other insurance but their own. It makes me feel as though Emory as a whole is only worried about money and not to help their patients and improve their quality of life Id recremmend finding another optometry department to handle your needs as it's not worth the time and run around to deal with them.

Dr. Thulasi is just wonderful. When she first walked in, I was literally in tears because I had been dealing with so much regarding my eye. Dr. Thusali answered all of my questions and especially my concerns. I have never had such a thorough eye exam. She explained in depth, how we would move forward to deal with my eye issues. I left feeling confident in her diagnosis and plan. I highly recommend Dr. Thulasi.

I'm an international student at Emory and I tried to schedule an appointment for glaucoma testing but was unable to because the center requires doctors' notes and referrals. I tried to explain that I only saw the doctor who suggested this once and in a different country for a regular appointment to check my eye prescription. Even after explaining this barrier, I was still told that I could not schedule an appointment.
