I started this trail 830am Saturday and ended the 26 miles on just the Pinchot trail by 300pm Sunday! This is an excellent single track trail for beginners to experienced backpackers! The trail is very well blazed in orange every couple of hundred feet making it extremely easy to follow! There are lots of water sources available along this trail! I did this trail memorial day weekend after heavy rain and the north loop was drier and had more ticks than the south loop! The south loop was very muddy and at times the trail was like a small running creek! For me that made this trail even more fun! It was nice walking along the water on the south loop and being able to see choke creek falls after a heavy rain was absolutely awesome! Great spot to have some lunch! I look forward to doing this trail again and making time to do the side trails blazed in yellow!

I've done several overnight trips along the Pinchot Trail System and it is absolutely beautiful. For the most part the north and south loops are fairly flat and well marked. The south loop is a little marshy during the wetter times of the year. The only negative would be trail upkeep. Although the DCNR is working to reroute some of the trail to eliminate forest road hikes, the existing sections could use some clearing. In spots the trail is completely overgrown which is more of an issue in the warmer months due to ticks.

This state first has a lot to offer for a small forest. Great trails, overlooks, small but beautiful falls. What's not to like?

Gorgeous forest, well maintained and safe, abundant wildlife, and diverse primitive sites. The multitude of trails offer something for every taste and experience level. The booking process is straight forward and the response is always prompt. 10/10

We camped at Sassafras Hill Camping area in the Thornhurst Track. Reserving the site was easy with a quick response, including my question about the ability to get a travel trailer there, as I could find very little info on this campsite. Instructions and signage to find the site were decent at first but then became more challenging, but this was the only challenge. We drove our truck with 28 foot trailer, along single lane but very well maintained roads for several miles into the forest.. The campsite is huge with large fire pit and two picnic tables.

Great beautiful area to walk hike and become one with nature. White tail deer. Black bears, halks eagles, squrils ect. to view along the trail. It's a moderate easy trail. Remember to wear orange during all hunting seasons.

This trail goes from Sterling St in Mountain Top to Laurel Run Boro. Not as many clear overlooks as I thought there would be, but a good area to ski or bike.

Shame on the parks department for closing off all the usable trails and forcing everyone on an extremely narrow and muddy trail. We were unable able to make it to Choke falls and I would now recommend this trail to anyone anymore
