πŸ‘πŸ‘ Old school Wyoming atmosphere. Friendly service. Very tasty cheeseburger and does equis beer. The prices were reasonable especially considering that it's in the middle of nowhere (in a good way.) They were open only on Fri, Sat and Sunday when I was there. I'm glad I went. I'll go again. I can't stress enough how if you have kids (or even if you don't) you should bring them here. If you live in WY and want to show your kids the history of the place you live this is where you bring them. This is best preserved "ghost" town I've ever seen. Get there early enough in the day to go on a tour of the Carissa Mine...you don't actually go down in the mine but are in the mill area...and the mill actually works...so they'll get the machinery running to show you how it all works...really cool! Spend some time walking and touring the town at your own pace...they have lots of rooms set up on display so you can imagine what it would look like during that time...lots of information and history...people in character work the town as barkeeps and shop tenders...pick up a souvenir (I got a button puller and my husband got a replica deck of cards). Visit the cemetery which still has a few grave sites that weren't moved and take the hiking trail. The mine tour only cost about $2 and the rest is free...so if you're looking for a super affordable day adventure when your kids are out of school and you want to pry their eyeballs away from the tube/phones/ipads...this is a great option. Go see your state...learn something...get outside and get some exercise.

Definitely not the place I remember. First the service was horrible second the food had no taste no seasoning and way way over PRICED 50 bucks for 2 burgers and 2 simple drinks. 3rd other people were served before us and came in 45 mins after us and got their food 1st . Very Bad service!! It's turned into a tourist trap ,and there's a reason all the locals were next door at Miner's Grubsteak . Will never go back and Definitely never recommend this place to anyone ever. It's very sad what this place turned into

What a cool place! Seriously. You have to experience it. The bar keep is very nice. The place is an amazing piece of history. One beer on tap, and it’s their own Atlantic City brew. I love this place.

recently had the pleasure of stopping by the Atlantic City Mercantile for lunch, and I must say, I was absolutely captivated by the Wyoming rustic atmosphere that greeted me. As I entered, I couldn't help but feel like I had stepped into a high-end museum rather than a restaurant. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, happily sharing historic information about the area and informing me that this year marked the 130th anniversary of the establishment. The bar area was a true gem, reminiscent of a bygone era with its transport from a burlesque in Hudson Wyoming. It added an extra touch of charm and authenticity to the overall experience. The lunch menu was refreshingly simple, focusing mainly on hamburgers and appetizers. While some may argue for an extensive menu, the Atlantic City Mercantile proves the adage that if you do one thing a day and do it well, it's worth it. And boy, do they do it well! I can confidently say that the burger I enjoyed there was one of the best I have ever had. If you plan to visit for dinner, I highly recommend making a reservation in advance. The Atlantic City Mercantile is well-known for their exquisite steaks, cooked right in the dining area over an open aspen fire. The aroma alone is enough to whet your appetite and leave you craving for more. In conclusion, the Atlantic City Mercantile is an absolute must-stop if you find yourself in the area. From the captivating Wyoming rustic atmosphere to the friendly and knowledgeable staff, every aspect of this establishment exudes charm and excellence. Whether you're craving a mouthwatering burger or a perfectly cooked steak, the Atlantic City Mercantile will leave you with a memorable dining experience that will keep you coming back for more.

Great spot to eat on the way through the CDR, and you can get some gas from Wild Bill afterwards.

Went in about 5 on a Friday. They are quite busy. Waited a while then asked for a menu. Waited another 15 minutes. Tried to catch attention of person behind the counter. No luck. After waiting 15 minutes with an open menu in front of me I asked again if I could place an order. Was told by gentlemen behind the counter that he didn't realize I was there. I was sitting with an open menu in front of me. Do I need to be rude and shout for service?

If you’re like me and judge establishments by their taxidermy, there are not enough stars to hand out for The Mercantile in Atlantic City, WY. I’ve traveled extensively searching for pinnacle when it comes to rustic charm, and The Merc cannot be outdone. Beyond the aesthetics, the server at the bar was attentive to our needs and our lunch was fast and hit the spot after a day of blue grouse hunting at my secret spot (don’t bother asking me). I cannot wait for my next visit and hope I can make it in for a steak dinner soon, that is cooked on their open-flame grill seen in the photos.

Absolutely worth a visit if you are in the area when they are open. Make sure you come hungry (and thirsty). Great old west atmosphere, all the menu options I have sampled so far were excellent, and they make one of the best burgers I've ever had. Friendly and welcoming staff really makes this place a great experience. I would avoid the Grubstake diner right next door - it has none of the charm, a far worse menu for higher prices, and none of the welcome that we received at the Mercantile.

I read about it on facebook and thought it would be nice to be able to stop and partake of their food and check out everything that is in their mercantile. It is absolutly awesome. I would recommind it to everyone out of state or in Wyoming. I live in Montana but from Wyoming and have been through Atlantic City and South Pass City but it was always closed. Their steaks at dinner time are AWESOME. Make sure you call and make reservation for Dinner starting at 5:00 PM. Steaks are Tender with just the right amount of flavor. They do a great job. Highly Satified with the visit. Town needs to clean up areas around the town and get rid of junk and remark the sites but it was still awesome. make it tourist freindly to find all the sites on their map.

Unfortunately, they were closing early so we didn't get to eat there. The person we talked to was very friendly. I was looking forward to seeing if their food had improved from our last visit. Guess we'll have to wait until next go round.

We always enjoy the unique experience and ambiance of this treasure nestled in the southern part of the Wind River mountains. No other place like it that I am aware of and the steaks are delicious!

Have stopped in here a couple of times for a burger and beer after cross country ski touring nearby. Delicious big burgers, cold beer, and warm cozy wood stove really hit the spot. Fast, friendly service; very interesting vintage decor, pleasant clientele.

Was super good. One of the best burgers I've ever had. People are super friendly.

Go for the atmosphere but I wouldn't recommend staying for food. The staff is short tempered at the most basic request. The food was super expensive and not good.
