The ramen itself was fantastic, I really enjoyed it. But it is definitely an individual experience. There are booths with walls on either side that make it difficult to hold a group conversation. I would only recommend going if you're going alone or with one other person. There's a parking lot next door so the line gets split before and after the entry. Though there is no sign or explanation, the staff keep coming out and have to tell people to go back. They should put up a sign!

This has been a wonderful experience. The staff were incredibly courteous and friendly. They patiently answered my dumb questions and explained the process well. The food was absolutely rich in flavor and high in satisfaction. I would highly recommend coming here for a genuine ramen experience and it’s a great place to go by yourself or with a partner.

This is very much a solo experience with the individual booth so you can enjoy your food in peace. I went in around 3-4pm and had no lines and the restaurant was mostly empty. However it still took a while for me to be seen to and seated. Once I was seated, the service was very quick and attentive. The ramen is very very good and definitely worth the trip to eat the ramen. However I'm not sure if it's something worth waiting over an hour for so I definitely advise going during the off peak hours.

I went around 12:40 and had to wait about 40 minutes to get in so expect to stand in line for a bit if you go during peak lunch hours. I would say that it was worth the wait. The noodles and the broth were cooked perfectly and the spiciness was at the exact level I wanted. I definitely recommend trying their matcha pudding. I almost didn’t but a friend insisted that I had to try it. I’m so glad I did because it’s been over 24 hours and I’m still thinking about how good it was! The staff was very friendly and attentive as well.

Definitely one of the yummiest ramen I've tested. The attention and the explanation for first goers was spot on. Like it shows, the place is very traditional and you have your own space for the whole experience. Even when it says it EVERYWHERE, Do NOT leave a tip!. This is a no, no in Japanese culture. The ambience and the cleanliness, perfect. I'll be going back! 🌸🌸🌸🌸

Quite pricey for a bowl of ramen. $27 for a standard set. Experiencing once or once in a while is alright. It’s good that tipping is not followed at the establishment. Taste is good and it should be considering the reputation and price. Service is great.

I come to NYC every year and was recommended by a friend to try this place as he had seen it online and wow! The pork was cooked to perfection, the noodles weren’t as soft as I liked them but that was totally my fault since it does give you the option on how you want your noodles cooked. Overall the food and flavoring was absolutely amazing and I cannot wait to come back again in my next coming trip.

Definitely one of the best ramens i have ever had. The texture, spice level, soft noodles, meat everything is top notch on top of that you have your own booth where you can eat and enjoy every bit of your food. Absolutely best We had to wait for like 20 mins bit totally worth it Per person costs come around 25 to 30 Beer is expensive around 9 Suoer easy menu, quick service, order on ipad. To top it off we tried matcha pudding as well it was also really really good. Love it Its a must visit in nyc

Best darn ramen and cool exp. Eating my yourself? No worries you have a booth all to yourself without any interactions. Eating with a partner? Well the booth can become two. Excellent service, easy menu, super good broth and noodles! Perfect portions to not feel fat.

This place serves just one dish. Ramen. That's it. If you want to eat the best Ramen in town, then this is the place to go. The only problem is..a lot of other people want to go there too. Expect to stand in a long queue to get your seat. Most restaurants that we passed by were empty but when we reached Ichiran, we saw a long queue. We were in 2 minds whether we should endure the wait since the weather was super cold (0 degree Celsius and windy). We decided to endure the cold and I am glad we did. The Ramen was super delicious (perhaps the wait in the icy weather enhanced all the flavors). I ordered their bubbly sake that feels like Champagne. It was an unique dining experience with their solo tables and the food magically appearing through the curtain. For an unique Ramen dining experience, this is the place to go. My only quibble was that when we entered the place, there were many tables empty. I wondered why they kept us waiting in the freezing weather outside when we could have set in a cozy table waiting for the food.

One of my top three ramen spots hands down. I love the style of dining as well as the “tip included” menu pricing. The system they run is like a well-oiled machine and their ramen is 10/10. A great place to go alone or in a small group. Line is always long, but it moves quick because service is excellent.

I thought this was a great experience! It was cute and fun! My boys also enjoyed it! We all had the pork based broth, which was yummy in our tummy!! The price is a bit on the high side, but really what isn’t in NYC…what matters is that it was good to eat and enjoyable to experience. I really enjoyed eating in my own little cubicle type section and someone just opening up the window and giving me my food!! I got up and got myself some water from the water machine. I did order the matcha pudding and that was sooo delicious. Not knowing how much food would come we ordered the extra side of noodles. Only myself and my husband ate that, the boys had enough with the portion that came in their soup. I came here on recommendation of a friend that had brought her daughter for her 16th birthday. I’m sure we will come back again, my kids already asked when we could go back. There was a wait when we went, I think we waited about 30 min, so mentally prepare for that. The wait was worth it though, no complaints here. The staff was also super friendly! Overall a 5 in my book!

A must visit if you love good ramen and a different experience. I ordered the vegetarian ramen with seaweed, mushrooms and scallions. Taste and portion are on point. The wait was around 20 minutes. Once you enter you need to place your order through a kiosk and pay. You get to select the thickness, spice level (1-20) etc. if you like spicy I'd recommend you order 7+. Once you're done, they seat you in booths. These folks are professionals in all aspects. I'd highly recommend this place for the experience, food and the ambiance.

A Must-go restaurant in New York to visit. I enjoyed the authentic food experience. Everything is easy to order. I loved being able to sit in an individual booth. The presentation was great! Some of the best ramen I've tasted since visiting Japan. Easy to refill your noodle and drinks with a call button on the left countertop in your booth. I loved the boiled egg and plenty of scallions and seaweed to add to my ramen. I would highly recommend trying this place out!

Ichiran is a must-visit for ramen lovers! As soon as you walk in, you place your order before even sitting down. Once you’ve ordered, they’ll guide you to your own private booth, which is great for solo diners and groups alike. The staff are super respectful and welcoming, even though you don’t actually see them—the booths have covers in front. Now, let’s get to the good stuff—the ramen. I went for the traditional bowl with some extra toppings, and the broth was a knockout. Rich, spicy, and you get to choose your spice level from 1-10. For those curious, 2-3 offers a good kick and 4 cranks it up a notch but is totally manageable. Feeling extra hungry? No worries. You can easily order more by marking it down on a paper. This place gets a solid 5/5 from me—both the experience and the food are off the charts!

Located on the bustling streets of NYC downtown, Ichiran promises an authentic journey into the heart of Japanese cuisine. As an avid enthusiast of ramen, I ventured into this cozy establishment with high expectations, and I was not disappointed. Upon entering, the ambiance immediately transports you to the lively streets of Tokyo. The decor is minimalist yet inviting, with traditional Japanese accents adorning the walls. The bustling sounds of the kitchen further enhance the authentic dining experience. I opted for the Tonkotsu Ramen, and it was nothing short of sublime. The broth was velvety and packed with umami goodness, while the noodles had the perfect chewiness to complement the dish. Topped with tender slices of chashu pork, and a medley of fresh vegetables, every spoonful was a culinary delight. Me being an Indian, I chose spice level 6 which was too much for me. So I will suggest to go for 3-4.

Fantastic! Ramen is all about two things. Broth and noodle. Ichiran locks both down. Tried vegetable ramen, and their signature. Both broths were excellent in a sense that is not too heavy and clean taste. Noodles tasted fresh as well. You order in front, wait for your table and all is done right in front. Took only a few min before the order comes out. Very fun individual setting experience just like ones in Japan. NO TIPS!

We went for a late lunch around 2pm. There was a line and we actually waited for about 30 mins until the three of us were seated. We ordered via the kiosk on the entrance and waited inside to be seated. They only have 1 type of ramen: Tonkotsu ramen but there is vegetarian option available and there are lots of toppings to be added to your liking. There is a self served water dispenser with cold & hot water. We ordered 2 tonkotsu ramen (classic and spicy) and an extra bowl of noodle. The ramens were ready within 10 minutes after we gave our order receipt. The ramen was good. The broth was flavorful yet light enough for my liking. The noodle was firm just what I like. The charsu pieces were tender and delicious. Overall, it was a good bowl of ramen.

I want to give it 5 stars but the wait for my food was longer than 30 mins, and my friend’s wait for his beer was even longer. The food was good overall! They are quick to respond when you press the button for assistance.

This place is great for individuals and for introverts who don’t really want to talk to anybody but still want to eat out in public without feeling weird. I went here a couple of months ago and I really loved going here. It’s walkable distance to Madison square garden which is great if you have a concert to go to afterwards. This is a no tipping establishment. The whole meal itself was about 20-30 dollars. If you want seconds, simply ring the bell and they will give it to you. The chef / waiter who served me was super nice. Really enjoyed this place overall.

One of the best ramen places I’ve been in the city. Definitely a no-frills kind of spot. Line outside was really long on a Sunday evening (probably waited about an hour). I expected it to be packed once we got in but the seating was practically empty. I assume that was due to a staffing shortage. Would definitely come back but perhaps not on a very cold day.

Friend recommend me that place saying it was the best ramen she ever had. Well, i wouldn’t say that but it was really good! But the best part is atmosphere and the vibe of this place! I really loved it! Nice staff as well. It can be really busy and you can wait in a line a bit but I was lucky enough and it was quite empty. Anyway 10/10, go for it!

I liked the broth and pork. Personally I was not a fan of noodles (i just prefer wavy ones) but not bad. Just a ramen with only broth, noodles, pork and green onions was $23, at least you don’t have to tip. But there are nicer places around where you can get more toppings for that price and pay $23-25 with a tip. Also place needs a little remodeling , everything is old, especially bathroom , needs a cleaning as well. Booths are very tight. I feel like there is a lot of potential and I like the idea with cubes if I eat by myself a lot! Just needs more maintenance and updates. 3.5/5

Long wait but worth it!!! You wait outside hopefully in nice weather. Once you're in. You're in a single booth so going with a large group won't be what you expect from a normal table. Food takes a small wait but very very good. Staff is beyond great and you can't tip. If anyone deserves a tip it's these workers. Don't miss it.

Holy cow. Best bowl of ramen I've ever had. It's designed to be a solo experience. Individual booth where you can sit and just enjoy the food. No tipping, there was a line to get in and it was worth the wait

Great ramen spot. Good to eat alone or with one person but not groups since it’s booth/cubicle style. Everything is included in the price, so NO TIPS which is fabulous. Thank you! I wish more restaurants did this.

A really unique spot for a solo meal. There was a short line but it moved fast, and the dining experience was cute and unique, with rows of individual booths. I came here with a friend and sat side by side which worked as well. The service was great too, really welcoming and efficient. They had run out of the ramen with extras so I just got the basic tonkotsu and a matcha beer. It’s very cool that you get to choose your richness levels, spice levels, noodle softness levels, etc. The ramen was good, the broth was tasty and the meat was tender. I can’t say it’s the best ramen I’ve ever had, or the most cost efficient (but do take into account that it’s no tips), but I’m glad I’ve been and may well be back.

Stopped by for a visit tonight & this place is definitely one of the top highlights of my trip! The staff is very kind, friendly, & patient with new visitors. The ambiance of the restaurant is clean, calming & refreshing. I had the vegetable ramen with scallions, mushrooms & their famous red spicy sauce & balsamic vinegar. The flavors were perfectly balanced & the broth had me wanting more! I’ve seen a few reviews complaining of the price when this is a “no tipping” establishment. Considering how they don’t let you tip, the prices are certainly fair in my opinion. Definitely a must go whether you’re visiting or are native to the area. Ichiran made me want to pack my things & move here.

It is a good place for introverts to enjoy since this place offer the minimal social contacts with others. The ramen & the soup was great. The chasu was chewy but not hard. The soup wasn't too salty, which is a plus from me. The matcha pudding wasn't too sweet, which is good.

I've had Ichiran in my list for a while, and after I found out they had this location (it seems better and less busy than Time Square), we decided to try it out. You order in the front desk on a tablet, and then you pay for your meal and get seated. If you want to add anything extra (we did), they'll just charge you when you're seated. The ramen was amazing. It's by far the best ramen I've ever had at a restaurant. The broth was delicious, the noodles were perfect, and it was a really big portion. I would definitely come back here next time I'm in NY just to experience it again.

  • 5/5 Eric N. 7 months ago on Google
If you want an experience to something similar to Japanese ramen and their solo booth this is the place to go. The customer service is definitely top notch and the atmosphere is amazing. The tonkotsu broth of the noodle and the flavor are so good it’s very close to Japanese ramen in Japan. Expect at least a 30-60+ minute wait if you are coming here as it gets crazy busy and it’s fairly pricey for Ramen but it is in NYC.

  • 5/5 Henry P. 2 years ago on Google
Hands down the best ramen place in NYC. Been to so many ramen places in the city but they have the best broth. I feel like it is little pricier if you were to get extra noodle and the toppings but it will fill you up nice and warm. I think it is worth it to upgrade your bowl. I highly recommend to get a clove of garlic along with extra sauce & fatty broth. By default, the order sheet will recommend to have everything in medium settings. Cozy, highly recommended place.

Very authentic ramen place. Broth is so good. The atmosphere is very authentic, and filled with culture but yet modern. Loved the experience. They do not take tips but they do take plz and ty. Skillex was here so that's cool lol.

Long wait of ~40m to get in for dinner, pretty expensive for a bowl of ramen, but it was by far the best ramen I've had in my life. The broth has a quality and depth to it that I've never experienced anywhere else, and the noodles are high quality alkaline noodles with the perfect amount of snap.

  • 5/5 Jeff T. 2 years ago on Google
Delicate and personal, your personal stall rewards you with your choice of a meal fully customizable. Al dente noodles with a spicy touch is what we wanted. While the price might seem high, it's a fair equivalent to any other restaurant's best entrees. Keep that in mind. Wonderful warming soup, especially great for cold days. The green tea pudding is a must

Ichiran has a really good balanced taste. Nothing stands out messing with the deep broth. The ramen is served at a great temperature and the display of ingredients very inviting. The concept of single booth is great and they have water machines your can serve yourself. No, no waiting around just for water. The option to add more noodles is really nice for those who have a larger appetite. Decently priced for such a good ramen. I removed 1 star because the hardness of our noodle wasn’t correct, it was a lot softer than it should. I still highly recommend this place as the broth and quality of ingredients is great.

Best Ramen broth in NYC! It’s an experience you don’t see your servers face it’s all through this window cubby situation. The point is to enjoy your soup with no distractions. You check off what you want and they have what’s popular there to make it easy, go for the package deal the egg mushrooms etc. your not supposed to tip , everyone is really friendly. This is a must in nyc!

I love ramen it’s one of my comfort foods. This was delicious everything was fresh and the noodles themselves were perfect. They have different choices of how well you would like your noodles cooked as well as the spice level. Definitely get the egg in the shell it’s a nice soft boiled adds the extra richness! 10/10 definitely worth the wait!
