This restaurant is a cook you own BBQ. For cooking there is a small gas grill in the center of the table. The staff is enthusiastic and attentive and stops buy frequently to make sure everything is cooking. The menu has many options but, we found ordering from the prefixed menu for Two, Three and Four people was the easiest and best value. We ordered for three and a couple of items alacart. Be aware, you must be prepared to cook your own food. And understand that the cooking will be the focus of your attention at the beginning of your meal and for about 20 mins. You can assign one person to be the chef if you have a grill fan on hand. The smoke is minimal as there is a fan that pulls out all of the smoke. You won't smell like a campfire when you leave. I would not recommend this place for children under six. There is nothing they will be able to do with an open flame. Each person receives a pair of metal tongs, chopsticks and a plate. A flank steak was brought out and we received a pair of shears to cut it up after cooking. If cooking together while enjoying drinks, Sake or Japanese Beer sounds like a fun time, then this is the place for you. At the time of this writing the cost of the meal for three with Sake and two alacart orders and the tip $161.00

We always come here during happy hour. Their have many options for alcohol drinks. We usually order a pitcher of kirin beer. Set menu are good too. If you are a meat lover, try their jaramillo skirt steak & bistro hanger steak, which are amazingly delicious! Their dessert menu is excellent! You can even have a piece of Lady M here! Remember to try their taiyaki with ice cream!

Great Place To Have A Date Night With A Love One, A Group of Friends or Even With Your Family. This Place Is Also Kid Friendly. This Is An Experience For Everyone. Place Is Super Clean. Only Thing Is The Food Come Out Family Style. Please NOTE All Your Food DO NOT Come Out At The Same Time. The Staff Is Very Attentive & Friendly. This Place Is Really Popular So I Recommend That You Reserve Your Table In Advance. Food Is Phenomenal You Are Able To Cook Your Meats On The Small Grill In The Center of The Table. Great Selection of Appetizers. And The Desserts Priceless.

We loved our first Japanese barbecue experience! EM made us feel like at home and was our grill master, making sure our meat was cooked to perfection. We liked all cuts of meat except the spicy pork which had a strange taste. All other dishes like the broccoli with cheese fondue , house salad, gyozas and the miso soup were great. The dessert was a chocolate fondant with green tea ice cream - also very good! We paid 120 including tips and walked out of there very satisfied. Will definitely come back.

First time having a Japanese BBQ cooking my own meat and it was really fun. All the meats are really tasty with great seasoning and marinades. I’d recommend the dumplings and the garlic fried rice, apart from all the amazing meats of course. The waitress we had was really nice but we had to wait to be seated for a solid 20 minutes despite having a table as there was no one at the front desk.

This is our third time going there. Each time it was a surprise date night treat by my fiancé and each time I was squealing in delight😂 as it’s my turn for him to cook for me.we go once a year now. Vegetarians fear not! My favorite thing to eat there is the “garlic rice”, “steamed spinach” and their “avocado salad.” They have an array of top shelf meats for the carnivore lovers and some seafood options. The wait is never too bad and the service is always top notch at this location. Great option for a fun date night. I suspect we’ll be back again next year! Can’t wait.

Fun Japanese BBQ experience in the center of New York City. I went to one in Chicago before and the meat in this location feels much fresher. Our favorite was wagyu beef, which “melt” like butter in mouth. Some of the other meat that came with the group package was okay. Be careful to not overcook the meat, especially chicken which can easily get burned and stick to the pan. The small plates are also great, especially the corn, tofu, and the signature tuna one. The price was reasonable for a group of 6 people.

Good restaurant and very nice experience. We went for the premium all you can eat experience. It has so many options from several kinds of meats to lots of garnishes. All the food tastes amazing. Staff super kind and always around. Even the premium options (which is the cheapest) is pricey but within the average of restaurants in the area. Even though the staff is polite sometimes it felt like they were rushing us so we’d eat faster to free up the space.

The Gyu Kaku Japanese BBQ is an amazing Japanese cuisine style restaurant that offers guests a unique and superb dining experience. In December of 2018, I brought and treated my wife and myself for dinner at Gyu Kaku Japanese BBQ to celebrate our Happy Engagement Anniversary!!! We very much enjoyed our visit at this great restaurant. Both my wife and I were kindly welcomed and treated politely by the restaurant’s staff and we found our meal to be absolutely delicious!!! We highly enjoyed seasoning and cooking our own meals and our table grill did a great job on heating our food!!! Both my wife and I highly recommend for everyone to visit and dine Gyu Kaku!!!

Went to Gyu-Kaku before a Broadway show. We booked a table, but showed up a bit early and had some happy hour cocktails waiting for the rest of the group. The bartender was really friendly, conversational, and quick on service, and the drinks packed a punch. Once we were seated, the waitress gave a great explanation of the menu and how the little grill in the middle of the table worked. All of the food was pretty good - my friend and I split a ramen, and got some appetizers. While I didn't use it, they also have a rewards program you can accrue points on, if you want to return more often. Definitely a great option for Japanese food near Times Square and Broadway.

The exquisite taste of the high-quality meats at this Japanese BBQ restaurant is beyond compare. Complementing this are the exceptional side dishes, making the meal complete. The stellar service is the cherry on top of this delightful dining experience.

Overall, a great place to dine. Once you sit, be prepared to eat. Some of the meats are flavorful, but not all (i.e. filet mignon, shrimp). The kimchi was fresh and the drinks were nicely made (note: they charge $6 for an extra helping of kimchi). Deserts are pricey in my opinion, but all in all, the service was fine (except for the waiter not changing the grill). Go hungry as you'll fill up fast.

This was a wonderful dinner! This 90-minute dinner is just the right amount of filling and definitely tasty. There are options upon options for food items to cook in your built-in table grill. We had a 4-person meal set up that included soup, salad, edamame, meat, noodles, and more! Desert was a cute, simple, and classic smores that you roasted at your table! My one and only gripe is that almost everything Is a la carte that can get pricey, especially if your food preferences don't line up with their dinner groupings. This restaurant is pricey, but worth it. They have choices of Wagyu and all of their food items are made with care and taste in constant consideration! 20/10.

Best part of this place is their Wagyu beef and large private party rooms. If you are a big family and in need of a dinner place with large number of people, this is best restaurants to choose. Their private rooms are nice to take some breath from hustle of Times Square. There are many parking availability as well! They also serve marshmallows at the end of your dinner for kids.

Last year when I visited this place, I was in a rush and couldn't try the BBQ menu. This time around, I spent about 2 hours ordering everything I possibly could. This restaurant was open on Thanksgiving Day, and the staff has always been delightful and professional. The meat quality is incredible, the sides are tasty, and I personally love the portions they give you. This is a must-have for me whenever I'm in town.

Came here a few times. Most recently with my co worker for lunch. The lunch special is a really good deal in my opinion. The BBQ is really good. The servers have been respectful as well. The lychee mojito cocktail is also delicious.

Had reservations for Sunday at 7pm. They sat us right at 7. Service was good and quick. We ordered a set menu for 2 and added a Wagyu and a couple appetizers. Everything was good. The rice and salad they mix for you and put in bowls for you. We picked a set menu with no dessert. We didn’t have room for it anyways. Pork belly and Wagyu are both very good but not if you over cook it. The garlic shrimp was also very good. I signed up for the app when we were paying and saved 15%! Miriam was a great server and helped us use it. Everything I saw was booths and they have plexiglass separators still up for Covid. They do have time limit but we didn’t have any issues. I liked how they had 3 sauces on the table. My favorite was the sweet soy. My husbands was the spicy. They have happy hour pricing so if you can come during those times you can save quite a bit on drinks. Not so much savings on food.

This place is amazing! The food is so good. There was 6 of us and we all found something we really enjoyed. The staff was friendly and beyond efficient. They had everything served and cleared at just the right times. We got the meal for 6 and there was just the right amount for all of us. Would definitely recommend this to anyone in the area. Will be going again when we get back to NYC.

I have never had OCTOPUS before until I came to Gyu-Kaku. The DISH is called TakoYaki. I also get with it the Japanese Karage. Phenomenal Dish. You should try it when you visit. Great STAFF and THE Building looks like it belongs in Japan itself. Amazing presentation. 5 out of 5

My first time here. The service and staff were phenomenal! Our waitress Myriam was so helpful, kind and friendly. The manager Jason stopped to talk to us and make sure we were satisfied with our food and service. I was very impressed. I look forward to coming back again. Thank you for making my experience a positive one. Food was Fresh and delicious

Only took pics of the start and end to our meal. Everything in between was amazing. The spicy tuna and steak rolls were great and barbecue of every meat was good. We would have preferred more chicken and pork but we aren't huge beef lovers. There were some beef items that were great so if you are a beef lover you will love it! We got the meal for 4 instead of picking individual items.

This restaurant is delicious and so fun. They have an awesome menu with so many items to choose from. Each table has its’ own grill and you can order as much or as little as you want. I had the spicy pork, hanger steak, and mixed vegetables. I recommend the lychee martini too. Highly recommend and cannot wait to go back.
