This is a very clean and welcoming type of place. The staff is great. The value for type of hotel is the best you will find anywhere around. It has secured entry to building, the rooms are large, and each room is equipted with mini fridge, microwave, and coffee. Next best thing to being home. Highly recommended.

I have been here for about a month now and this hotel is by far my favorite, and that goes for ANYWHERE or ANY of the 50 states. The doors are locked day and night, so it is super secure. The rooms are spacious as well as very, very nice. There's been respectful other tenants in the motel that ask, "Hows it going?" or "How are you?" and they are all super quiet! They have a beautiful patio area in back by the back door and you get EXCELLENT wifi service while relaxing or even a quick smoke break sitting back there in their VERY comfortable chairs they have out there, and it's so peaceful to sit anytime. The staff has been the most respectful and AWESOME staff I have ever seen (in my professional opinion working in the hotel industry or as personal vacation trips) ANYWHERE I have stayed. The cheaper store in town, (in my opinion is the "Fareway"), and is literally next door but if you prefer Hyvee Stores, it's just a short 5 minute walk away. There's a gas station across the highway from this Lodge plus we recently found the park off 12th Street, is about a 10 to 15 min walk from here. Do yourself a favor and make ANY, and I mean ANY, reason or excuse to stay at the Cyclone Lodge and you'll agree!! They even have HUGE whirlpool rooms!!! Personal shout out to the amazing lady running this hotel, her name is Kim, as she is the absolute best!!!!!! P.S. the rates are SUPER affordable!!!!!! BEST PLACE EVER!

When I arrived, the door was locked and I had to wait for a while for someone to let me in to check in. I called for a reservation a week or two ahead of time and when I got there they could not find my reservation. However, they did give me a room since there was one available. The hotel is supposed to be smoke free but my room smelled of smoke and the odor was so unpleasant I left and spent time in the city park until dark. I really didn't feel well and wanted to lie down and I also needed to do some more work but could not stand the smoke smell so I had leave and I wasn't very happy about that. I asked for a zero balance receipt and the clerk at the counter did provide one that was hand written. I realized that my employer would not accept that so the next morning I asked for another receipt. No one was at the desk and the lobby was locked. I could not find any staff. I asked a guest if she knew how I could get help. She knocked on some doors and got someone to help me. The staff person was congenial enough but could not get into the lobby to help me. I gave her my business card and asked her to send me a zero balance receipt by email. She said they could do that. It has been a week and no receipt. I called and no one answers the phone. I left a message and still no receipt. I called again and left another message, still no receipt. On a positive note...the room was clean and had been updated. They honored the rate for state employees. However, the sheets were stained. However, I will not be staying here again.

I can't recommend this hotel enough, the owners have treated me amazingly over the past few weeks. My company had me stay here for an extended period doing a project and I was living in the hotel during this time. The owners are great people, funny and very kind. The rooms are very nice, clean, and spacious, better than many hotels in the area. WiFi is very fast and stable. Many stores are nearby, putting this in the heart of Harlan if there was one. The only downside I found was no continental breakfast, but the room price fairly reflects this. All in all a great lodge, I highly recommend this to anyone staying in the area.

Stumbled on the Cyclone Lodge by accident, it was a little off our our scheduled route but our usual stay over spots were sold out. What a pleasant surprise!! The room was large, clean and recently remodeled. Staff was friendly and helpful and our accommodations could not have been better. Well worth the slight detour off of interstate 80!

I know this review is for a stay we attempted last year 4th of July weekend, but here it is. We arrived a little after 6pm and the doors were locked. No big deal, a you man let us in and I was hit immediately by the smell of animals and a mix of smoke and musk. We had booked the rooms several weeks out due to the holiday weekend but when we wanted to check in, I was told that all the open rooms (to include the one they were going to put us in) had no AC due to them all going out. The manager sent us to Avoca to another property they owned and that not only was a long ways away for wanting to spend the days in Westphalia with family, but was also a dump. Sorry, but we will never book there again.

I don't care what anyone has to say. I absolutely love this place. Everyone is nice and respectful. No one bothers you or makes you feel uncomfortable. Refrigerator, ice machine, microwave, Air conditioner hot/cold, WiFi, and cable. What more can you ask for. Prices are affordable. So if you are wondering YES I definitely RECOMMEND coming here. I know most likely will never ever find a place like this ever again.

Worst business ran establishment ever. They made me pay double or they were going to kick me out. Well I guess they got there dope money!
