Not a good place to stay. Dirty and expensive for no facilities. $15each+$10 Power and $2 Shower each. No Nzmca member discount. The photos tell it all. Was very disappointed. Lovely lake but camping not so good.

we had a great stay at the camp ground. had trouble booking online, phoned up very helpful lady took our booking, paid on line job done. we were 2 family's of 4, kids 11 and 9, they wandered and cycled around during the day on their own. they loved the play ground and the pontoon on the lake. they were not allowed to swim without supervision. the lake was lovely the drop off is to be watched with little kids, the wind was a bit cold when it of the water and we saw a few umbrellas blown down the "beach". We took our mountain bikes to ride the big lake trail 8km, this is a good trail, suitable for kid and not so experienced riders. the small lake trail 4km is not, which was a bit disappointing after the fab morning ride we had.. The ride over the hill to the other lake is steeper but the lesser experienced riders in our group managed it. i was very impressed with the evening security team, they were friendly and the camp was quiet around 10.30 which was great. the toilet block was adequate and highly patronized, it could have done with 2 cleans a day not one, my personal opinion. the lack of potable water is something they could improve.. one of the kids did say it was good we took the bikes other wise it could have been boring. good value for money, recommended as a destination to camp.

Camped here for two nights over labour weekend. Incredibly well maintained campsite. Absolutely beautiful lake. Good basic facilities too, the toilets never stunk. Highly recommended, love that it's kept so clean.

Beautiful place, a visit is a must! It is a bit windy which can be annoying. Be prepared to see your tent flying unless you got really good ways to keep it stuck to the ground!! :)

Perfect day trip. Lovely fresh water swim and easy 2km hike around the lake amongst indeginous Manuka, Kanuka and Ponga ferns. Protected from the wind. Very relaxing and peaceful with no one else around on a week day.

Amazing lake with crystal clear blue water that changes shade due to the depth of the water. Large shallows ideal for young people or those not confident with swimming. There is a 9km walk around the lake that is relatively flat that can also be cycled. Don't forget to head up into the hills behind the domain for breathtaking views of the lake. The Domain itself is a central point for many activities and has a large area available for camping. The caretakers make sure all noise stops at 10.30. Plenty of areas available for Day Visitors as well. New plantings of native fauna as well as pine trees are beginning to thrive around the lake bringing wild birds nice and close. A must do for kiwis and tourists.

The lakes are absolutely stunning! Would highly recommend a camp out here. Only issue I have that it is one of the more expensive grounds (compared to DOC sites), and the toilet/shower facilities are below average at best.

Lake is wonderful to use. Portable toilets can get very dirty.

Lovely water and grounds fo explore. Take a beach umbrella or shade tent and food/fluids to keep hydrated all day. The amenities are well serviced. And the park ranger is on site. No dogs - so please don't bring them, you will be asked to leave. And it is far too hot to leave them in the car.
