A fabulous little museum with lots of interesting displays. Lovely to read stories from the locals. Seeing some of the stuff we used when I was young was really appreciated and great to share with others who are younger. Donations welcome Not limited to gold coin. 😊

Small town, small display but the staff are friendly and are happy to direct you to the next town/destination. Neat little display of history in this museum and an amusing one-cell jail.

It was intimidating at first to go into this museum, but after going in, the curators were chill and let us be to wander and relax to look and learn about the British and Māori artifacts.

Real historical flavour in its display of local memorabilia ... a glimpse of NZ rural lifestyle 100 yrs ago

We visited to escape the heat but I'm pleased we did. An eclectic assembly of remnants from a time gone by from which we can seehow far we've come. The stand out detail, for me, was the abundant evidence that settler and Maori were able to co-exist in peace, friendship and mutual benefit once upon a time.

A very interesting museum. Excellent displays. Tidy and well run. An enjoyable way to spend a few hrs to appreciate what our early settler families did to develop the country we now have.

A gem! Very well presented covering a range of interesting material including local fossils and Maori artifacts. Check out the old local newspapers. Was it really like that in the 60's- things have certainly changed. Worth stopping for.
