Perfect day kayaking to Motukorea (Browns Island). Erik our guide went through all the instructions & safety details first. Great fun paddling, arrived at the island, had coffee & cake, then walked up volcano, fabulous view, then paddled back. Excellent experience, we enjoyed it & would recommend.

Very professionally run company. Correspondence about city location pickup via email was responsive. Pickup point was easy to find and their van came on time. Eric and Richard were excellent guides. Very affable and great conversationalists. Sea kayaks and safety equipment were in great condition. Crocs and dry bags are provided for the wet activities. Dinner was great considering it was a camping meal! I love their chutney! The hike up to the summit is demanding but worth it. There are opportunities to catch your breath along the way. Catching the sunset and chilling out was really nice too. Kayaking at night was serene and the city skyline at night is beautiful. So is the night sky, filled with stars. We even caught a shooting star. All in all, a great outdoor adventure tour! Highly recommended!

Rangitoto Island BBQ & Summit hike Review Experience A great tour for adventurous types. The kayaks were great. Very dry and cut nicely through the water. The crossing to Rangitoto can be a bit wet when the wind picks up. Crocs are provided so you won’t get your shoes wet. Rangitoto is deserted at night and the hike while steep is short. The walk is straight up and the lava and forest is nice. The view from the top is excellent and you can see 360 degrees. The hike down in the dark is cooler and headlamps are provided. They also provide fleeces if needed. On the way back the ocean was lake flat and quiet. The phosphorescence was magical and it made for a perfect ending to a fantastic adventure. Food The BBQ meal was fine. They served a yummy vegetable chutney and bread. Steak was good and the potato salad and the Coleslaw lacked flavor but were perfectly palatable. But let’s be honest. No one break this for the food! Guides Our guides were excellent. Eric was informative, engaging, and attentive. A really interesting and genuine character. It’s obvious he likes people. Chloe was good although much greener. She was a bit less lively and chatty but very helpful. I highly recommend Auckland Sea Kayaks for your next adventure and anyone looking for adventurous things to do in Auckland will surely enjoy this excursion.

Booked this a while ago (and to be honest didn’t read it that carefully) so it came as a bit of a surprise that after the kayak to Rangitoto island, which is a fair paddle…I had it as around 5K on the watch, and then a nice BBQ (steak and assorted accompaniments) to then hear of the walk up to the top for a view of the sunset - but so glad this is also part of the tour, Eric our guide was great, and others on the tour were good craic as well. The walk is around 7.5K, some of it pretty steep and gravelly underfoot, but fine, and the views from the top are brilliant, we had time for a scramble through the lava tube (you definitely want to do this as well), a chocolate brownie for a sugar boost and then we were headed back down as the light was fading…it was then a pretty good workout heading back to the mainland and we were done by around 10.30PM (3.30PM pick-up) so all in all very good value for money, you’ll see lots and it was fantastic 😀 we’ll done #Aucklandseakayaks 👏

Me and two friends did the Rangitoto sunset tour and over all it was a really good experience, nice and easy, very well explained and the views were awesome too! The communication before and during the tour was awesome, so much so we are contemplating doing another one with them and as a result I would definitely recommend them.

Kayaking to Rangitoto and back was an awesome experience. We essentially had the entire island to ourselves for the summit hike and the panoramic sunset views were beautiful! Kayaking back in the dark provided a unique way to see the bay and the city lights. You don't even notice the time because of how beautiful the views from the water and the summit are. Our guide Eric was an absolute legend!

Fun trip across to Rangitoto Island with basically the whole island to ourselves. Amazing views of Auckland and great catered food. Kayaked back in the dark but safety was a priority with lights and radio. Can’t wait to kayak around Auckland some more!
