This bar is simply amazing! So many food options, and the vibe here is the best! If you end up going here, I strongly suggest trying the "impossible burger"! It's a fully vegan masterpiece with amazing flavour! It's called the impossible burger becayse it's fully vegan, yet it tastes BETTER than a neat burger! There is simply no doubt that I'd come back here again!

Been here many times! For a bar nestled in the suburbs of Birkenhead you couldn’t ask for much more. Great selection of beer, the servers are always really friendly and all up a good atmosphere! I think the chef has changed over time, but the core menu has stayed the same with typical pub grub with some standouts to (the calamari and ribs go down nicely). For the price and for where you are you can’t ask for much more. Will keep coming back that’s for sure! And if you’re a local and haven’t been, try this place out…

Total overhaul of my previous review years ago. I love this local haunt. Everything from the staff conversations to the quaint toilets; from the indoor bar space to the outdoor heated seating. Is there really anything else to say? Actually, there is haha. Have a chat with Steve and James; super knowledgeable about beer, super friendly, and great at giving personalised recommendations.

The food is finger licking and the staff is super friendly. As a dog owner this is the perfect place for me and my fur buddy to hang out. Even without my best friend I love the BBC for it's tasty menu, chill atmosphere, and menagerie of beers.

The vegan burger was dry and disappointing. There is a comment now from someone saying that they "remember" coming to check on our table. To prove their statement, I invite them to tell me what day I was there and how many of us were at our table. Because what I remember having to get up and go to the bar to ask for a box to take my leftovers home. We had no opportunity to ask for sauce or remedy the dry burger situation. Hence the two star review.

I come here often and really love their food! Actually, I lie.. their food is amazing!! I have found though, that when the owner is not around the service is lacking. I understand he cannot always be around, but just a sad observation and experience. Otherwise cannot fault the atmosphere, drinks and food. Totally awesome! Would have been 5 stars if not for the service 🙃

Fantastic little pub with an awesome selection of beers and wines. The food here is delicious and they have a great food menu for kids. The staff are super friendly and one overheard my daughter comment to me that she didn’t like her cheeseburger as it had mustard in it so he whipped it away and offered another one! Love this place!

A fab little bar right on the main street of Birkenhead. Choose your beers for a flight and enjoy the eclectic & wide range on offer. I would have liked more info on the beers we chose (maybe make up coasters w the beer logo on one side and a buttload of info on the other?), but it was still a lovely experience. Will definitely be back to check out the food options, and for more of whatever that yummy pink beer was!

What can say? The glass is almost empty. It was very tasty. Should I get another? Mmmmm. So many choices. Love the BBC. You will too.

I've been here twice now and really enjoyed both experiences. Despite covid numbers slowing down business and making staffing difficult, everyone at BBC did their utmost to make it a positive experience. They have a great selection of beers on tap that are better prices than most craft brewpubs these days. The BBC burger was big and messy, just the way I like a good pub burger. My second time here, the place was only being run by a gentleman who I assume was the owner due to covid challenges and he did an excellent job keeping up with what was still a reasonable sized crowd. Another notable part of the visit was the fact that he remembered me from a few nights prior despite having only stayed for a beer. Impressive. It also says something when your establishment is still the busiest on the street even when things are a little crazy out there. Well done BBC

The BBC is an absolute institution among freehouses, which I cannot recommend enough. Impeccable food, great range of beers and cocktails, and top tier staff with a vast array of knowledge to assist you in your drink selection. To not visit the BBC would be a missed opportunity for an excellent evening.

I'm not a local as such but regularly drop in for a couple of beers while our daughter attends a Shore Dance lesson around the corner. My wife teases me that I must feel like Nigel no Friends drinking alone but BBC is truely a place that is so welcoming to all. Extensive craft beer selection and great local pub atmosphere. We've had a couple of family meals there too now and the food and service were fantastic.

Been here a couple of times now! Really love they are dog friendly and the pub quiz was run extremely well. Food is really nice too with a pretty wide selection. Beer is great 👍 a great local venue!

I've never had a bad meal here. The staff are amazing. Food is fantastic. I had roast of the day, which was outstanding, as was the pie of the day which my husband had. We will definitely return

Come here regularly. Good range of beers and wines and great service. The food is not necessarily the cheapest but it is excellent quality and life's too short to eat mediocre food.

Always lovely staff, owner is a delight and their doggy policy is top notch. Yum beers and tasty meals.

Ist time at bbc 2nite with wife and kids. Really good atmosphere, guy behind bar was nice and friendly and our meals were bloody good. Will be back again. Cheers Gerald

After finding this place a week ago, we have been back three times and brought family along as well. BBC has a great range of craft beers on offer (maybe add Double Vision to the line-up?), a menu to suit all and very friendly and accommodating people - including Riley, the best server in the world. This is a perfect spot for a beverage and a bit and we will be back when we next come to Auckland

Had a wonderful dinner here with a girlfriend & our tweens. Lots of interesting & tasty beer options (& all other drinks too!), great food (the ribs were perfect & fell off the bone🤤). Staff were super friendly & helpful. Toilets also rate a mention for being super clean (even the kids mentioned how good the toilets were!).

Great Venue for a few drinks, a special date or a big night out. Really good selection of New Zealand craft beer. Absolutely amazing food and such a nice vibe inside and out. A must visit when you are in Birkenhead.

The place is okay, not really worth a 4+ star rating though. Being able to have Dog's around is always great but it's a very small venue, too small to allow Dog's around and it's just chaotic. We saw 2 Dog's have a go at eachother which put us on edge and there doesn't appear to be any system that the waitresses use to know who needs to order or even what is available. Our waitress didn't write down any of our orders which we felt uneasy about and when I asked her questions she looked at me blankly and wasn't paying attention at all to what I had asked. All up it wasn't a nice experience and wasn't the kind of place me and my family could chill and have a few drinks at, we just ate and left. Bit of a let down for a Birthday dinner out with family.

Dope selection of brews. If you are a beef connoisseur then this is the place for you. Good vibes every time I go. Waitresses are so welcoming and friendly

Warm & welcoming atmosphere in a beautiful Kauri villa. Great selections of NZ craft beers on rotation and exceptional food. Good at any time of the day, staff and locals are always very friendly and inviting.

Good selection of Tap Beers with a great range of cans and bottles to back that up. Food wise, I only tried the chips (vegan aioli available), but they were excellent. Friendly knowledgeable service too!

Everything was perfect. Nice and attentive welcome, great service, awesome food, great vibe and decor modern and a reflection of the community and local artists. Will certainly be back for a drink or a meal with family and friends. Recommend the Scotch Egg, not what you expect on a menu though really good.
