I came here last Saturday and had a very unpleasant and uncomfortable experience with the staff. My friends and I had just come inside and we stopped in the disability bathroom on the way up the stairs. My sober friend used the toilet while I stood outside in the stair well (I was also sober). A girl came to clean the bathroom and I let her know someone was in there, he won't be long, and we just had small talk. Then a security guard came and also talked to the girl. It was all pretty friendly and normal but then the situation became passive aggressive. The girl said she was waiting for a guy to come out of the bathroom and the guard asked her if she has been waiting a while, she said yes she had, and the guard offered to "get him out". At this point I intervened, it had only been a minute since the girl started waiting, and my friend was just using the bathroom so there was no need to "get him out". I said he was sober just incase they thought he was throwing up. The guard started knocking on the door and I tried to stop him. I told him he was literally just peeing in there and there was nothing more to it. Then the guard said "well it doesn't normally take a guy that long to pee" and "is he your boyfriend or something". These were very unnessecary comments, and my friend is trans so obviously he isn't going to piss like a cis guy. I just said something like "he's just peeing, he's completely sober, there's nothing dodgy is going on in there. You don't have to open the door". I was pretty worried at this point because my friend was in a vulnerable position and it would've been very disarming if this guard suddenly burst into the bathroom. The security guard ended up opening the bathroom door and going in, but luckily my friend was coming out at the same time. You would think, that the guard and I both being sober, we would engage in a rational conversation, understand eachother, and not escalate a situation which does not need escalating. The girl cleaning didn't help with the "I've been waiting a while" comment. This entire exchange lasted 3 minutes. Your staff members need to improve their attitude to people who come inside. Not everyone requires "dealing with".

Used to love this place as an easy-going cheap club to chill with friends, unfortunately after last night and seeing how everyone in the reviews seems to also have been treated by the security, won't ever be going back. My friend looks really young for her age, always has and due to this we always expect her ID to be given a second look, however, the security guards last night seemed to be extremely obsessive and after passing her ID to two more of the security team to check over (For some reason they need 5 dudes and a lady guarding the entrance on a Wednesday?) they decided her ID wasn't good enough and demanded to see her Facebook, which we thought was a strange request but went to comply before realising she'd left her ID with her boyfriend who was parking the car. While my friend was using my phone to try to log in to her Facebook she remarked to me that she wasn't sure she remembered her password, to which the female security guard snapped "Well you'd better." Which was unnecessarily rude but we shrugged it off for the moment, knowing we couldn't magically just remember stuff we didn't. I decided to log back into my Facebook and show the security guards the "Happy 20th" birthday posts on my friend's timeline, which wasn't deemed good enough (This would be understandable on its own however what else are we supposed to do? She literally gave them her ID?) We also pulled up a previous photo of her at Bar 101 from the official Facebook page and were once again snapped at by the female guard. At this point, I told my friend I just wanted to go to Saturdays as the guards weren't even telling us what they wanted from us, however, they would not return her ID. Thankfully her boyfriend showed up with her phone not long later and she pulled up her Facebook page, they seemed to find whatever they were looking for and agreed to finally let us in. We decided not to go in just due to the curt way we were talked to and instead went to Saturdays. Saturdays was a bit of a flop due to there being some sort of old people function on in there and the walk had calmed us down a little so we decided to return to Bar 101. My friend pulled her ID out again as we approached to hand over (As she wasn't stamped before we left) The male taking the IDs at the door asked if she had a "Proper ID now." To which I frustratedly snapped "What do you mean? That's her driver's License, it is a proper ID", The guards seemed to have a chuckle amongst themselves and he said he couldn't let us in with that ID, I was confused and reminded them they literally were gonna let us in before and what possibly could have changed in that time? While my friend demanded they call the police then, because what else were we supposed to do to prove it was real? He continued to refuse us entry and so we turned around and decided to call the night a fail and just go home, as we were walking away they changed their mind and started yelling after us that 'no we actually could come in,' and that it was 'fine now'. Confused with the constant changing my friend waved them off and we kept walking just wanting to go home, to which they responded by swearing at us as we walked away. Very unprofessional, clearly there is no standard for how they ID people at this club, the decision for not letting and letting people in on the bouncers' whims is an extremely confusing business decision, the owners should install some standardized rules or maybe hire some professionals that don't resort to swearing at customers and being all-around unpleasant. To the female bouncer, perhaps you should look for a job you enjoy, customer service is not for you. To the male security guards grow up and learn some professionalism. To the owners, if you have 5-6 security guarding a single-door entrance, they tend to have nothing to do for the night and stand around joking with each other, losing you patrons. I've seen many reviews about the security being just downright nasty people at this place, perhaps you should look into fixing that. Cheers

Unpleasant bouncers treated me and my friend like crooks. Showed a respectable ID which they did not accept. Immediately just saying no and then treating us like we did not exist. Try not disrespect the queen next time ay lads. Just there for a swing and jig.

Good place for students to have fun. Very crowded on weekends. The staff were not great and the service was bad. I guess they don't want their customers to stay at their place for a longer duration or they indirectly try to chase people after 30 minutes. The staff took mine and my friends' half consumed glasses/bottles without asking us and we found it very rude. The only positive thing about this place is good music! The DJ definitely knows the pulse of the crowd and play the music.

Literally the only reason this place is still open is cause of the $3 cruisers. - Always got people looking for fights outside the club - The bouncers have more muscle than brain, they're extremely obnoxious and rude - The music hasn't been updated in god knows how long. Seriously every time I've gone they play the same music - The bathrooms are from your worst nightmare, do they even get cleaned? Probably not. The list goes on. If you're wanting to go to town don't bother with Bar101. Just have predrinks before heading to a proper club if you're on a budget.

Was sober driver and they didn't let me in haha. Most useless bouncer is the one who looks like a short Kmart version of Jack Harlow. He lets in some very drunk people though, honestly seems to be random. If bouncers could sort the sober ones from the drunk ones, their job might one day have a purpose.

While I was vibing and enjoying myself a bouncer pulls me aside and tells me that the bar requested I be removed for…..I assume I was partying too hard?? No one gave me a straight answer. Sure maybe I was being a bit crazy with my dancing but its a nightclub, get over it. Can I not just enjoy myself without feeling as if I’m being stalked or intimidated? Bouncer said I am “too nice to remove” so he didn’t remove me. Although I appreciated the bouncer’s kindness in the situation, it still killed and ruined the otherwise fun night I was having.

This club has forever lost my patronage after last night when I had to pick up my crying partner who had been kicked out as her rushing to the bathroom was reported as her throwing up. On top of this she calmy informed staff that she was experiencing heart burn due to forgetting her medication, to which security replied "I don't care you need to leave." The nail in the coffin was denying her acess to the bathroom...

Literally the most average bar. Only people that go here are freshly turned 18 year-olds and old guys that want to get with them.

absolute joke. asked one of the bartenders for a charger he told me the bouncer has one went to the bouncer and he kicked me out. returned the following night and got kicked out again saying i was banned from the place for unplugging cables. Never happened never went near cables just a money grab unbelievable made me pay before kicking me out.

If I could give a 0 start I would, waiting in the line for the bar for ages. Finally got to the front and the bar tender ignored us until I made it obvious that we were in the line. After that she wouldn’t even look at us. I go to bar 101 often enough to know that this was horrible service. Really wish I didn’t have to but this experience was horrible :( female bartender wasn’t it…

Everyone was hyping Bar101 but the absolute letdown was the security guards on their high horses. The one I encountered was rude, lacked morals and acted absolutely disgusting to everyone they think is “drunk”. How sad is it for the first and lasting impression is the ugly service from the even uglier security guard on 19/01 early morning. And the sleazy blonde one too if that’s your mans pls break up. Don’t go there if you love yourself.

Took my deaf friends there We had a good time. Cheap drinks, great service but 1 thing I'm not ok with the DJ couldn't finish the full song, the music changes halfway. So annoying🤦🏽‍♀️

Dont go downstairs smells like sewage upstairs not much better. But its ok after a few drinks if you can stand by a window. And i swear the music is just a 2007 jump jam mash up. Dont stand in one place for to long or your shoes will be glued to the floor. Pretty disgusting place overall but will probably go back.

Great place to go if you’re wanting a cheap night out. Was really happy to see the bouncers help me out after getting punched. Great atmosphere and a must do for international people coming in. Lot of respect to the bouncers for how they dealt with my situation and good chats I had with them in line

The security guy (of course maori) was like “HURRY UP!” when we were go downstairs and he -can u imagine - hated that I was looking at him… like what?! Of course I don’t like when someone is screaming at me. And… guess what? I got out of this s&@ty bar Security is s&@m here guys don’t come here

A bit of a scummy hole. Will take your money at the door and arrogant misandrist women at the bar will kick you out for requesting a drink. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place if you don't like being treated like less than human by self-entitled narcissists.

Wanted to make a formal complaint on behalf of myself, and the 3 others I was with when we attempted to enter. I just find it perplexing that myself and 3 others were kicked out of the line before entering because the lady with glasses who was working entry on the night of 24/06/23 spotted my friend throwing their drink away beforehand. The reason this astounds me is due to the fact that just ahead of us in the line, was a group of people that were quite obviously rolling on MDMA, yet they were let in. Last I checked, MD is illegal, so please explain to me how this adds up. Cheers

Drinks were watered down, no one’s dancing, the music was so boring no wonder no one’s dancing. Just one table feeling the party the rest of the club feels dead. Not worth the wait and the $5 entrance. Wouldve been more fun playing a music on my phone and dancing on the street. Even the DJs feel dead. Not coming back.

BE CAREFUL OF SPIKED DRINKS/PEOPLE SPIKING DRINKS. Drink got spiked was completely out of it. Was “banned” for something that wasn’t my fault and don’t even remember

I found a pleasant atmosphere a well priced basic hamburger, large circular size, understandable thin patty. Although nice and very good coffee. I would recommend high heat short cook to allow for a more tender patty. A bit overcooked. Better to allow the patty to be a bit pink. Char grilling allows for this, hot charming on the outside. Perhaps you can ask if people prefer full cooking, I would warn them that that will lead to a tougher patty. I have yet to try their pizza but I am sure it will be good. Each one is done like my favourite place individually at the time. Takes a bit more time, but quality takes love and bit longer. I look forward to going back.

Do not recommend this bar. I know someone who was attacked in the bar. The bouncers put the wrong person out and left the 'fighter' in the bar to party on.... Drinks are cheap... Maybe that's why the crowd is so rough looking 😂😂

Nice club - super bad security. Threwn out without a reason. Security was rude and invoking us. Really weird situation that ended badly. Would not recomment this place!!!

Cheap drinks, good music. the bouncer was a legend looked after my girls jacket until we needed to go. He was a really humble guy I think his name was Theo. All up good experience

had a positive experience here with security who escorted a guy out promptly after seeing how uncomfortable my friends and I were and checking in with us. drinks are pretty cheap too

I have not been for 3+ years but I went back for my mates birthday to have a good dance and drink. I have to say the vibes were amazing. The dj was full of amazing mixes, the drinks were a decent price, the bartenders were full of wonderful smiles and personalities, the security was funny and completely amazing. Hygine: The place was always up to date with cleanliness apart from the tables out the smoking area don't get cleaned down so they are left a bit sticky. People that don't like to smoke if you want fresh air best to do it out of the club down stairs as the belcony is full of smokers. Anyway my night there was amazing and will always keep coming back. That is a most definate. :)

I love this place! Music is awesome, the main DJ is super cute. Drinks are super cheap so great for students. The security is really good at making people feel safe and lets them have fun while being safe.

Most of the crowd was really young and none of them actually danced much. DJ kept switching the music and weird times and made the vibe weird

Had some fun dancing with mates and chatting with people I have never met before. The sticky floor is disgusting though and the security do their job but give off a bad vibe, I just avoided them.

Literally got kicked out for getting overheated so I dumped water on my face using the bathroom water very amazing :)

It's a great place for young adults to get together and have fun. Meet new people throughout the night and interact with the workers. Music is great as well.

The security are the finest you’ll find in Auckland City! James, Josh and Theo are so friendly, kind and professional. They’re always looking out for everyone’s best interests and create a feeling of security and providing a safe environment. Highly recommend for a good time in town!

Bar 101 is my favourite club as I like my 90s dance music however it doesn’t give a welcoming feeling with security breathing down ya neck the djs are average as they seem to make big genre changes in the music and it’s obvious that people don’t like the sudden changes the bathrooms need a desperate renovation as the walls are torn apart and toilets are blocked all the time. Ventilation is alright it’s just open windows so ya gotta hope some wind comes through so you can cook down as it can get extremely hot inside but overall it’s a great place to start the night with the cheapest drinks in town and music to dance to

If you’re after an awesome atmosphere and cheap drinks this is the place to go! Staff are so welcoming and make it a safe and fun environment to be in. Coming back every weekend!!!

Would've given it a 5 🌟 rating but I was probably the oldest person in that club(32), in other words it's hip lol... but the sounds were good and the staff were great.

Took my id tabs tried to say it was fake and then kept changing their mind on if I was allowed in or not. Then when I left they were swearing. Very unprofessional, hire better staff that actually like their job.

Great for new students to Auckland. People pleasing music, cheap drinks and tasty shots, great place to go in big groups!
