Instant hit! Casual, relaxed and very friendly vibe. Wide selection of simple but tasty seafood and great deal on oysters! Very friendly staff and ample seating indoor and outdoors with the view of nearby boat dock. Great pick for a friends gathering or casual outing, not a romantic date spot though. Nautical and road travel themed venue. Don’t forget to meet Bruno the Bear! Loved it and recommend! Would

We organized a family meal here at Swashbucklers. I was initially very skeptical about what I could eat as I have a shellfish allergy. There are plenty of alternatives to chose from on the menu. Our waitress was incredibly friendly, super efficient and professional. She was constantly checking whether or drinks needing topping up. All our meals came out together which is a plus, food was tasty and family loved the seafood platter. We most definitely will return again. Thank you swashbucklers for a memorable night.

Went there for group dinner, order the garlic butter king prawns, everyone agreed that it was the best dish of the night. The prawns were a decent size, fresh and the flavour was amazing! Extra bonus is that they were a breeze to eat, peeled, gutted and the head comes off easily, thoughtful little step for the customer. Hubby had the eye fillet steak, good portion and he said was cooked perfectly. We will definitely be back

Great seafood and vibes. It might come across a bit cheesy with the pirate theme but the staff know how to serve good seafood and generally good service. Some of the best fresh seafood we've had. The mussels are a treat

Went for dinner with my 9 year old. We sat in the restaurant part, and we both really liked the themed decor. They have aquariums with fish and turtles to look at as you wait for your meal. The staff were all very attentive, and were happy to explain the menu as well. I had a steak with scallops wrapped in bacon and it was all delicious. My kid loves having fish for dinner and she had so many options on the kids menu that she was interested in.

A nostalgic restaurant where you guaranteed a lot of seafood in a great setting on the Harbour. Look, there isn't anything wrong with this place if you like seafood, but there aren't any revolutionary flavours going on here. I suppose good, fresh seafood will always shine through. I didn't come away from this restaurant amazed or wanting to come back again soon.

Great food. Fantastic service. Really friendly and attentive waiter. Seats were a bit uncomfortable. No cushions which seems to be a NZ thing. Shrimp cocktail was a bit underwhelming. Good atmosphere and sound track. Ate the brownie too fast. Was perfect. Good $$$

Great family friendly place to dine. Been here once before and I really enjoyed the spaghetti marinara. Second visit we got the seafood platter which was really tasty with lots of different options. I highly highly recommend the mashed potatoes, for some reason we ordered it and were not disappointed. Demolished all 3 plates of mashed potatoes - the best we have ever had.

The staff are not the friendliest and do not know how to smile. This is the only reason I gave 3 Stars because the food was nice and did not have to wait long at all and the owner was very pleasant but he needs to pass some of his great attitude on to the grumpy staff. Service with a smile goes a long way.

Really awesome place. Excellent service from all staff. Barmen were knowledgeable and friendly enough to suggest drinks. Waitresses were friendly a eager to assist. Last but not least, the manager checks on patrons just enough times. Lovely locations

One of the kids wanted to go for their birthday, I'm vegetarian so was a bit worried about what I would eat. I ordered the vegetarian pasta and it blew me away! Best pasta I've eaten in years and the portion size was extremely generous. Overall everyone really enjoyed their meals and we were surprised how cheap it was for us all to dine there. Would definitely go back again and recommend to anyone.

Fantastic service from our French waitress and the food was awesome. We had our elderly uncle with us and all the staff were extremely helpful. Swashbucklers has the most amazing seafood on their menu and some fantastic steaks. Recommended. 2022 update: the service is still great and the beer cold!

It's a waterfront institution. It's not fine dining, but the food is excellent! The outlook is spectacular - nowhere better on a nice day - if you fancy a couple of beers and a decent bite. It's just a cool place to visit!

Very attentive staff made us feel welcomed and well looked after. All our meals were delicious and well presented, especially the light and crispy batter on the humble fish and chips which made every mouthful memorable. The desserts (sticky date pudding and chocolate brownie) were the best and a wonderful way to end our night. Well done to kitchen and wait staff as well as management for setting and maintaining high standards. Will happily return.

Great food and service, no complaints here. Only comment would be that (from memory) the menu feels like it hasnt changed in 10 years. It was also a bit noisy in there even at lunch. Overall great. Thanks

We booked and got great service, staff were friendly and helpful. Food arrived and we dug right into. Seafood was delicious, fresh and perfectly cooked. My third time there and its just as good and lovely. Only think annoying was the carpark but otherwise a great place to try seafood. Update 04/05/24: Still great service and excellent food. Best seafood in town in sure! We ate till we were full to the brim!

This restaurant was a real surprise. The interior is amazing with so much to see and kept the children and adults interested all lunchtime with the turtles, fish and wall decoration. If you love fish you must visit. This is the best seafood restaurant I've ever been to in Auckland. Amazing choice, cooked & presented superbly and tasted fabulous. We were a party of 8 and service was fast, efficient and helpful. Altogether a great experience and parking right outside! Will definitely visit again soon!

We dined here in May. A group of 8 women celebrating a 60th. My first time. The seafood sharing platter for 4 at $160 is certainly worth every cent! More than enough to feed us. A nice venue tucked under the Auckland harbour bridge land side with plenty of parking. Interior decorations fitting for the restaurant name. Pays to book because it gets very busy from 7pm onwards. Luckily we booked for a 6pm date. Definitely a stop for seafood lovers ❤️

Fantastic in each and every aspect - perfect location in the harbour to enjoy an aperitif outside, very friendly and caring service, quality of the food at that prices is prominent and the selection of beverages covers every taste. I visited this restaurant several times and each time in slightly bigger groups - we always enjoyed extremely pleasant evenings.

Swashbucklers is a family friendly venue. It has 4 different areas to sit. Outside seating, Inside Bar style seating. 2 different Inside dining areas. The team are friendly and helpful (especially the owner or manager gentlemen). The food is tasty and good size portions. Great on a sunny day.

We celebrated my husband's 50th birthday tonight. I cannot compliment the chef/s for the lovely meals and our dedicated server (Maria) she was so lovely and attentive and helpful. The food was great and best of all was the tempura oysters. Thank you team! If you love seafood, you must try Swashbucklers Restaurant and even if you don't like seafood, there is meat dishes too.

Service was slow and they did not bring the food as requested, It came in waves. Unattended kids running everywhere, screaming and bumping into our table. Food was very disappointing and mostly had no flavor and was inedible. We left most of it on the table. Didn’t expect a 3 star Michelin restaurant but was easily a huge let down after 2 weeks in New Zealand where the food had been excellent and delicious. Thank goodness Air New Zealand gave us a great meal on the trip back to Houston.

Swashbucklers is a great spot for a relaxed Friday afternoon drink or a hearty pub-style meal. The portion sizes are incredible for the price, especially compared to most places in Auckland. Drinks are affordable, parking is easy, and the atmosphere is welcoming. Sitting outside on a sunny day by the harbourfront really elevates the experience. The staff were extremely friendly too, which made it even better. It’s not fine dining, but for great food, fair prices, and a chill vibe, it’s definitely worth a visit!

Just went here tonight to celebrate my Mrs birthday. Food was good but I felt like the fat curly headed waiter gave off racist vibes. The service from the maori/Polynesian waitress was good but yeah that fat curly headed waiter killed the experience for me. I don't know if I'll ever come back here. Even if the food is good, great service is a MUST for me.

I’m impressed by the quality of the food and service here. Being a hospitality person myself, I know many restaurants and hotels are cutting corners because of the high costs of running the business. But that is not the case here. The food is beautifully presented and tasty, the portion size is generous, the ingredients are fresh, and the staff are happy and friendly - I love everything about this place~ highly recommend!

Amazing service and great food. The staff were very friendly and attentive, the food took a little while to come but it was worth the wait. Servings were quite large. The steak and salmon we ordered came with side salads. We ordered extra mashed potatoes and steamed veggies, but we couldn’t finish them because of how large the mains were. The oysters were fresh and the house made sauce that came with it really complimented the oysters well

Dont often write reviews but this restaurant needs to be highly praised, the best seafood platter I've ever had! Every item on the platter was cooked to perfection and so delicious. Very generous servings but because it was so yummy we demolished it! Pricing was on point, patronage full, service was impeccable! Thank you for making my birthday special, had a great time!

Started of rocky as we had added an extra person without letting them know. So as the manager said "it was a big problem" not the best greeting. However we found a table outside which worked out better. The size of the meals for what you pay for is excellent value for money. The drinks however really over priced. Staff were friendly enough but not overly engaging. We ordered oysters, platter for 3, steak, garlic prawns, seafood chowder, fries. Food came quickly and was fresh and hot. I would go back again and if you love seafood definitely go.

  • 5/5 Vanessa F. 2 years ago on Google
Owner is very quick to find us a table. We are after table on the outside and it was full. We did not make any booking hence he sat us inside the bar and tell us to feel free to sit outside once there's an empty spot. Seafood was really fresh and service was quick. On the plus side price is also very reasonable.

Average service and rustic little pirate house. Platter for 1... loved that it wasn't all deep-fried however the non deep-fried f Seafood was fridge cold including the steamed mussels, highlight was the little sauce dish that came with it.

This place was amaziing. Immediately entering, service was on point being greeted by two super friendly staff. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed. Food was delicous and very generous in size. I ordered the pllatter for one as seen in the photo, it was so worth the cost compared to alot of overpriced places in the city. Only 38$ for 2x Battered gurnard, 2x big salmon rolls, 2x oysters, 3 or 4x crumbed scallops, 4x king prawns. 6 mussels and a heap of shrimp. I couldnt eat it all so had to take rest home. Sticky date was delish too and generous size. Kids meals were huge too my son had the fettuccine. Equally a Highlight was our waiter. His name was Carter he made the night for me and my son, i even left a tip which is very very rare. Highly recommend this place.

This was a great atmosphere especially with kids. It’s definitely not just for families (our kid was the only one there) but it was the best food she’s had on the island because it wasn’t just basic fish and chips and burgers, though they had that too. All of the seafood was awesome. We had the large seafood platter so we were able to sample quite a bit of what they serve and there were definitely no complaints from the group.
