Mamak was the best authentic Malaysian cuisine in Auckland and after closing for renovations it’s now reopened and seems to have been sold. It’s now changed to another ramen restaurant (right next to another!) which is wildly over priced. Worse yet they stole all the great reviews and 5 star ratings that Mamak had amassed over years of delicious food! Such a shame and a waste of a great restaurant!

Had lunch here recently with a couple of friends. The place was spacious, comfortable seating arrangement and a relax atmosphere. The service was friendly and the food was tasty. We had the following dishes: 1. Nasi Lemak (beef) 2. Loh Pak Ko 3. Old Town Nasi Lemak "Goreng" 4. Mee Goreng Will definitely return to taste the many dishes available. If you are in the area and love to have some Malaysian taste, I strongly recommend that you give this place a go. You will not be disappointed.

Glad that ajinsen open a branch in Takapuna, even though we missed Mamak! Great Japanese ramen, uniquely designed environment, feels like you are eating along the streets in Japan. Highly recommended !

Incredibly fast and delicious! I came here with a friend recently for dinner and liked how quickly our orders came out. The food was great. We had the Beef Rendang and the Prawn Har Mee. Highly recommended.

Delicious authentic Malaysian cuisine. Roti was flakey and crispy and the curry was rich and fill of flavour. The char kwey teow was cooked beautifully with a lovely wok hei flavour. Would definitely come back again.

Ajisen Ramen offers a wide variety of choices; I found something that suited my taste perfectly. Although I initially missed the option to order via QR code, the staff was helpful in guiding me through the process. The ramen arrived surprisingly quickly. The broth was flavorful, and the noodles had the ideal texture. The fried squid was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Thumbs up!

So many choices and the Ramen options are not your usual. They have some interesting choices and I chose many of the "Popular" ones and I can see why. The price is not the cheapest, but you do get plenty of value. The amount of meat you get is good value. They have a Kid's Set as well as side dishes

Ajisen Ramen - Delicious ramen with creamy broth soup and the meat so tender. Recommended.

This use to be a Malaysian restaurant so ignore all the old reviews 😅! It’s now the international ramen chain - Ajisen 🍜 If you have a high tolerance for spicy food 🌶️ then you might find the volcano ramen to be mild! It is a good ramen chain, the broth is rich and flavourful!

Great meal with quick service, the flavour is strong and portion plenty. A touch on the pricer side for ramen but worth the treat in my opinion.

Good experience overall. Food taste great and you order online too. Price is good too with all the lovely side dishes.

The agedashi tofu was crisp but not too firm, and the broth complimented it well. Would go back again to try their ramen, saw that you could adjust the firmness of your noodles according to your preference which sounds nice to have~🍜.

Best ramen I’ve tried in Auckland so far! The flavours in the soup were really tasty, good portion size.

Trying to find back my Ajisen ramen memories that I’ve got in Singapore during my studies. Ordered a spicy flavour ramen and it’s taste good! soup broth thick enough and the portion quite big too. spacious place and good service, it was not too peak during the time I visit (Friday, 1:30pm) moderate price, but good location. Lots of parking available around, it wouldn’t be a problem to find one.

Great food selection, not too overwhelming. Flavors hit the spot. Service was quick and friendly. A bit on the pricey side but well worth it.

Highly recommend this place if you are looking for exquisite Japanese food in Auckland. Definitely come here and try the ramen and the rice bowls. Ordered dishes: - Chicken Katsu Don 👍 8/10 - Grand Zen Nose ramen 👍 7.8/10 Chicken katsu Don: Really solid chicken katsu. The chicken was really crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Rice was cooked well, able to taste the individual grains of rice with nice texture. Salad was also really nice, it had a nice little sesame dressing. Grand Zen Nose ramen 7.8/10 I had the option of choosing the firmness of the noodles (soft, normal, firm), and I chose the firm noodles. The noodles had a nice bouncy texture, which I love! The broth was really solid. Porky, creamy and packed full of umami. The meat in this bowl of ramen was really good. Paiku (braised soft ribs) and chashu (pork belly)were both amazing soft in texture. Just soo good. Follow my socials for more indepth food review: IG/YT: Kiwi_friedchicken

The photos and report I have uploaded are about the Malaysian restaurant Mamak. I am very confused that these are posted as ratings of another restaurant. (old)Meal is delicious and staff is very friendly.

The food was really good, the taste is similar or even better than the ones in Malaysia. Really didn't expect that. Staffs are friendly and nice, place are clean and tidy. Waiting time wasn't long even though it was quite busy in the restaurant. Worth give it a try!

The food here reminds me of home. So far I've tried their wa tan hor, prawn mee, beef murtabak, and char kuey teow and they're very delicious! They also could accommodate for when I asked if they could split the noodle in the prawn mee to half yellow noodle and half vermicelli, just like how it's like in Malaysia. This place is worth a try if you enjoy eating South East Asian food. Be warned though, the place gets very crowded very fast!

My favourite Malaysian franchise in Auckland! I tend to go to the one in the Chancery since I live centrally but I try to come out to the Takapuna branch as well. I took my friends here for dinner and they enjoyed their meals as first timers. They even said they'd come back so that's a good sign. On this evening I ordered the roti and dhal as an entree and I had a curry for my main (which I didn't take a photo of because I was chit chatting). You have to try the food here - go on! You know you want to ;o)

Very good food here... I was invited here by Malaysian folks and it's also highly recommended by them as well. I had the chicken & prawns laksa but tasted the food around the table and it was great. Atmosphere and staff were great too, make sure you try the teh tarrik as it was recommended... check out the pics. Side note, I had the HOTTEST chili I've had in a long while! Just ask the friendly staff for their chili mix.

😠 Something is not going well in this place. Our breakfast was horrible 😁. 🫤 Not a fan. I couldn’t drink the cocktail, it was cloying and unbalanced. We also received our food first and waited well over 5 minutes for drinks - they should really hold the food until you have your drinks with you. No one wants to stare at expensive small bites going cold while you await a bever...
