Food, service, coffee - all great. Now for the interior design choices. Seats - The most uncomfortable seats that leave your legs looking like waffles. The bench seats with no separation from the group sitting behind you means you CANT HEAR anything your group is saying. Tables - Whoever thought those tables are a good idea has never used them. Where do you put your legs?! Massive flower arrangement in middle of the floor. That space would be put to way better use to seat a bigger group at a big table. Instead, it’s used for flowers and a group has to sit at two round tables and then squeeze the pram in and be careful not to bang it on everything on the way out. The flowers are wonderful to look at, but FUNCTION OVER FORM in a cafe. Bathroom - The sink in the bathroom is not for high traffic commercial use. It’s leaking all over the floor, are you kidding me? Overall- I feel bad for the cafe owners for investing so much money in the cafe to look really beautiful but provide such an uncomfortable user experience.

Great locale, good staff, love the coffee and the food was okay. The New York cheesecake is fabulous! Burrata - The soft squash with very mild flavour to accompany the soft burrata just didn't do it for me. One look for contrast in a burrata dish. Flounder - this has to be the smallest flounder I have had to date and for a whopping $35!!! It at least use to be accompanied with some bread, but alas no bread! Handcut pasta - flavour balance not quite right. The dish lacked depth. Think I'll return for coffee and cake only in the future.

Great service and hospitality, always busy for a reason! Generous portions for the gelato and appealing cabinet food, although food takes a while to come out if you are dining (but only because they are popular!).

🅿️ There are numerous roadside parking lots nearby, but on holidays, they tend to get crowded, making it a bit challenging to find a parking spot! At the entrance, we noticed many customers and thought we would have to wait a long time for a table. However, it turned out that most of them were ordering for takeout, and the staff warmly greeted us and guided us to a seat for dining in! Their gelato is also highly renowned! 🍽️ We ordered the Beef Croissant, Potato Benedict with salmon, Long Black, and Mocha. The Potato Benedict with salmon was the most astonishing dish. It seemed to be pan-fried and then baked, resulting in a crispy exterior and a satisfying texture. Combined with the salmon, it was so delicious that it felt almost heavenly! Next to the restaurant is Takapuna Beach. After satisfying our appetites, we went for a stroll there, basking in the sunlight, enjoying the sandy beach, and admiring the picturesque ocean view. It was incredibly relaxing!

Always a great spot for brunch. French toast is fab. Nice spot overlooking the ocean and good people watching. Staff are always fun and friendly.

Run, don’t walk, and order the Filo from the latest brunch menu. It was the tastiest, richest, most sensational brunch I’ve ever had, and an excellent addition to the menu. Thank you for making my day! The sun shone, the view was gorgeous, and the coffee as always was perfect. Always feel like I’m over at a friends house when I come here because of how welcome you make your guests feel!. See you next time!

Coffee was burnt. Service staff seemed very disinterested in customers except one lady who was lovely. Wouldn’t go again for coffee or food. Location is great though. Beautiful views over the Waitematā harbour and lots of parking in the early morning.

Nicely located at the corner where the Takapuna beach is overlooking. They have good selections of dessert and some meals. Their ginger lemon tea is really good. Cheesecake is also recommended. The alfresco area has several tables with umbrellas. Prices are also reasonable. We had a simple celebration of my friend's mother's birthday and the one who served us was really welcoming and even helped us with some nice photos.

A really busy Saturday morning so we had a 30 minute wait but it was worth the trip over the bridge. We had an outside table for 7 of us and received our breakfasts promptly. The banana, choc, honeycomb smoothie does taste weird, my 6 yr old grand daughter is correct.

Overpopulated, hence why service is far reduced. Just wanted a coffee and chilled out like most of the patrons were doing but pressured by staff to buy breakfast. Seems they don’t know people are only here for coffee dive they do have good coffee.

Great indoor outdoor flow Impeccable service Wheelchair accessible with ramp however is quite challenging to navigate between the tables if notice was given to the Cafe I’m sure they would be more than happy to reconfigure for accessibility requirements Outdoor seating has warm heaters food arrives fast staff are very attentive For large groups bookings are recommended

We enjoyed great food, amazing service and an incredible view! Started off with a great appetizer and a smooth cappuccino. We enjoyed the fish and chips and sorbet as the topper. Server was outstanding. Well worth the trip if you're in the area!

I feel there must have been a change in ownership if I read some of the bad reviews here. My experience was ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT!!! I'd give 10 Stars if I could. STAFF: Super friendly and professional. Amazing customer service - honestly. My glass of water was always filled up, no matter how busy it was! Very DOGFRIENDLY! You can bring your best mate - so cool! FOOD: The avocado toast was only 14$ not 35$like someone else here wrote. We got the Rosti Benedict with Salmon, and it was 100% delicious - great hash brown, fresh and grilled salmon, perfectly poached eggs and yum hollandaise (28$). Yes, the juices (10$) and ice cafe were a little bit more expensive than elsewhere but FRESH and made up perfectly, especially the iced coffee served in separate glasses (milk, coffee, ice cream etc) looked soooo fancy and was strong and delicious! So come one - you're RIGHT next to the beach and park and got an amazing view! It's so worth it, and we'll be back for sure. Just be aware: Parking is restricted & expensive, and this place is super busy - because it is so good :)

Exceptional lunch! Amazing service. Visited 16 years ago and still a lovely place to enjoy lunch. Waitress was so welcoming and very professional. Enjoyed a lively swim prior.

What I love about this cafe is the service - no matter how busy it is, the service is always friendly, helpful and super fast. The view is awesome if you sit outside. Food, coffee and the drinks are great but definitely on the expensive side.

A popular cafe, went in for early brunch on Saturday and waited no more than 10mins to get a table. We like it outside as we can get some fresh beach air and it can get a bit crowded inside. It's always a delight talking with the staff, orders are accurate and coffee is served quickly. I was craving something sweet and was recommended the filo. It was just what I wanted!

What a gorgeous spot to have a coffee & soak up the gorgeous beach views at the same time. Insanely busy spot for a week day but impeccable service all the same with sparkling water and the morning paper to boot! Pet friendly if you’re going for a walk & although I didn’t eat off the menu it looked amazing!!

Awesome service from the man from Japan (sorry I don't know your name) he was polite, friendly and attentive. I had the fish and chips which was lovely. The chip portion was huge but the fish portion comprised of 3 small yet filling pieces which won't make a man full. Highly recommended eatery.

This place is good! Beautiful tasting Kawakawa tea, solid coffee,free-range eggs benedict on potato rosti + free-range bacon - very much value for money. Excellent spot for a mid-winter Sunday hang-out ✅ ✅ ✅

A great location, really nice indoor/outdoor setup. Always very busy, but also rarely a wait. The oat flat white is perfection, great food ( and consistently great ), awesome service. Our go-to on the north shore.

This is a very pretty cafe. We opted to sit inside because it was a cool day and rain was in the forecast. On a summer's day, the deck would be a fantastic place, with a view of the water. So, we were 4 of us and most of us chose from the All Day Breakfast menu. I had THE Grill (eggs, sausage, bacon..the works). My nieces had the folded eggs & eggs with grilled mushrooms. My sister chose to have a Waygu Beef burger. We enjoyed the food a lot. The Grill ended up being enormous. I could only manage to eat a small portion and had to doggie bag the leftovers. Definitely a hearty dish for a guy! Would recommend this cafe...good service: very friendly and efficient, great ambience and good food.

Avocado mesh with additional salmon~ no merit but no merit. Salmon was quite salty, but coffee was good (foamy). Staff brought up sparkling water that he should have asked beforehand as some people didnt like it.

Best brunch place in takapuna. You can enjoy the beach view and feel the breeze while having meal there. I have ordered egg Benedict with smoked salmon on the top. If you are looking for a quick and satisfying breakfast or brunch. Just go there. Btw, this café is a good place for bloggers 😉

Good food, great location but a bit more expensive comparing with the food portions.

It was a very lively place, crowded and filled with people. The service staff was extremely friendly and offered us blankets to the customers seated outside. Which I thought was a nice touch. The food was good. Most of us had the fish and chips or beef burger. The fish and chips was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The coffee was not bad too. We had the pastries for dessert which was good too! Would recommend visiting if you have the time :)

I ordered eggs benedict here today, disappointing for $25. The hollandaise sauce was split and watery. I ate it because I was hungry but wouldn't reccomend for the price!

This stylish and welcoming cafe ticks every box. Genuine and lovely, attentive staff who stop by your table for a chat and offer fantastic service. Delicious food with a varied selection to chose from including gorgeous cakes, fresh juices and great coffee. Plus they’re dog friendly, making our pooch feel welcome with a dog biscuit and fresh water. Wonderful experience both days we visited. Oh and nice views! Can’t recommend enough. Well done - you guys absolutely nailed it.

Wow great site. Very engaged staff and our food was excellent. Will bring friends back for more. Almond milk made onsite. The gelato blocks are also popular from the queue. Didnt try one this time.

The store is located beside the cafe and it was busy the whole time I was there. It looked like they had cabinet food, ice cream and coffee for those wanting to grab something on the go. I went to the cafe to have afternoon tea. It wasn't too busy so I was able to grab a table on the deck outside. It was quite nice with the breeze and the views of the beach. I got water and menus after finding a seat. It didn't take long to get someone to take my order. I tried the roulade cake from the store as well as an iced caramel. I quite liked the ice caramel. The caramel was salted just the right amount so it was sweet and salty at the same time. The hazelnut and chocolate roulade was ok. The sponge itself was a bit dry and hard to eat. Having it with the cream inside made it taste nicer and it was a lot more enjoyable. The food menu was quite interesting but the breakfast items were only available until 1500. The nice location and food makes it a nice place to grab some food.

Awesome experience. Staff were very attentive to us. We ordered cappuccino and the new york style cheesecake. Cappuccino was good and I can taste that their coffee is of good quality. NY cheesecake was so good, not too sweet and not too sour. It’s well balanced.

Friendly stuff, beautiful scenery and interior design. We ordered French toast and the black sausage brunch which were amazing. The only downside is that seats are too tightly together especially in this Covid era. Highly recommended, must try!!

The carrot cake was delicious and beautifully presented. Coffee was served in a timely manner to food and was good. Only 3 stars for service as my friends Almond Croissant was not delivered for 10 minutes after other items and after having to ask.

An extremely busy place located next to the beach. The atmosphere was hectic, but staff members did their best to be attentive. The coffee was great, and the dining experience was alright. The vegetable dish was a little too oily for me, but my friend enjoyed her the fish and chips dish.

Love this place. Best ice-cream, good lunch and treat stuff. Places to sit outside if you're trying to avoid Covid, staff wore masks. Crumbed fish, from the fish n' chips was a bit bland, but came with sauces.

The hand cut pasta with scampi is an excellent choice, food portion is generous, a beach walk after, to digest all that CARBS is highly recommend 🤣🤣 Despite a busy Sunday trade, the service is attentive & quick, well done to the staff👍👍

We came here twice during our recent trip to Auckland. And we were blown away by the service and food quality each time. The kids loved the fish and chips and the wife and I loved the iced coffee and iced chocolate as well as the line-caught fish of the day which was a pan fried snapper. The ambience and vibe of the place was perfect for a lazy weekend lunch.

  • 5/5 Dilek C. 1 year ago on Google
That's one of the best places to visit in Auckland. We asked one place to share and they divided the food and prepared two plates for us. The staff is so friendly and the food is so yummy!!! The drinks are also another level

Stayed at the campsite next to this cafe and popped in for a coffee and something to eat. The food was so good we ended up having dinner there. The oysters were the freshest, tastiest oysters I can remember having. The staff were great, and the view was impeccable. We came back through after heading north and stayed at the same accommodation in part to be able to be close to this cafe. Highly Recommend!!

Awesome views and great food. If you get yourself a good day, make time and get a seat at this iconic cafe! The staff are incredibly welcoming and happy to accommodate any number of people. You also have the choice of just grabbing a gelato from the ice cream shop and heading for a walk. We order some fish and chips, eggs on toast, French toast and smashed avo! Everything was delicious!

😠 Poor coffee, below average food, run-down outdoor area and confused, bizarre service where you are told you can't order from the counter, then watch everyone else do exactly that. Then you have to queue for an age to pay because they have one person trying to do 10 things at the counter, like cuttin...
