We had a 6.45pm reservation on a Fri evening and while settling in, realised the place was filling up! Nonetheless, we were well attended to. The black pepper steak was delightful and the potato croquettes that came with it just a joy to bite into. The fish of the day was lightly battered and tasted fresh. We also had the chocolate mud cake - perfectly moist and chocolatey but not overly sweet. An excellent dessert to cap the fabulous meal. It's wonderful as is, but for me, it would reach perfection if the whipped cream that came with it were replaced by a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream! :-) Overall, a very enjoyable evening meal with good service in a unique dining setting.

Let's start with the positives. The atmosphere is really neat and the service is fantastic. The decor is very old fashioned and outdated butin a good way. It's a really cool spot Everyone on the staff was incredibly professional and knowledgeable in their role. The food unfortunately did not live up to expectations. Nothing was wrong with it or bad but nothing stood out either. It was all fairly mediocre and that's fine but I expected a little more from the other reviews on here. PS any place serving proper food should have linen napkins, not paper

The place was much bigger than I thought, quite suitable for large group / family dinner. Many choices included in the menu, you can always find something you like among all the options. The steaks are cooked very well, decent sizes. The salmon steak was good, but apart from that, other seafood choices were a little bit weak, I would recommend you stick with the meat choices. We ordered a lot, really a lot-- but we didnt have to wait that long before all are served. So that was good. Overall it is a quite good steak house.

One of the best seafood chowders I've ever tasted! Not only were ALL our meals exceptional in taste, the size was more than expected too. Fantastic place with reasonable prices. Also loved the booth style seating and cosy gally atmosphere. Will certainly be back.

Delicious food beyond expectations. Cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. The price is not cheap. But it is a place worth visiting at least once.

The dining area of this restaurant is simply amazing. I really like the olden style windows out front mimic the amazing olden interior. There is an alcove as you come in with an old-style cash register which they use for ringing up the bill. I really like the brick and wood interior with the metal along the edges. The booths were comfortable but I did feel like I was slipping out of my chair most of the time. The food menu is quite large and so trying to pick something was a bit hard. We ended up trying the venison kebab and I went with the Angus fillet with anchovy butter. The venison kebab was three huge cubes of venison served over rice. It was nicely cooked with a nice char around the edges along with the veges. I quite enjoyed the anchovy butter since it gave the meat an interesting flavour and nice saltiness. The option of croquette in place of mash was really nice since that was really tasty. I went with the salad instead of the roast veges and I enjoyed it mostly because it came with a boiled egg. We got the brandy snaps for dessert and they were really sweet and crunchy. The food was quite tasty and the service really nice.

I was very hesitant about going in because the outside vibes was not it was a little dusty and stuffs. But the moment they opened their shop I absolutely loved it!, loved the interior and the vibes. I love my steak medium rare they did great job, perfectly seasoned Would go again. Absolutely loved their food and costumer service. The one that served us was Pawi Kaur if I am right and she did such and amazing job. Parking would be a problem when going to Tony's Lord Nelson otherwise will surely come back.

Had dinner on a lazy Wednesday night here. Rack of lamb cooked wonderfully. Green lip mussels were well presented and tasty though one or two of them were about to turn. Good portions. Good beers. Service was friendly but a little slow. Happy overall.

Tony Lord Nelson Restaurant in Auckland offers a delightful dining experience that is sure to satisfy your taste buds. The standout dish for me was the T-bone steak. Cooked to perfection, it was juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor. The quality of the meat was evident, and it paired wonderfully with their selection of sauces and sides. One of the highlights of my visit was the friendly and attentive staff. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and well taken care of. They were knowledgeable about the menu, happy to offer recommendations, and ensured that every aspect of my dining experience was enjoyable. To end the meal on a sweet note, I tried their apple pie, and it was a fantastic choice. The warm, flaky pastry combined with the sweet and slightly tart apple filling created a comforting and delicious dessert. The ambiance of the restaurant is warm and inviting, making it a great place for a romantic dinner or a special celebration. Whether you're a steak enthusiast or looking for a memorable dining experience, Tony Lord Nelson Restaurant is worth a visit. It offers a winning combination of excellent food, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere. I'll definitely be returning for another satisfying meal.

Fantastic food with very comfortable environment.. Lord Nelson Rib is of very high value and chowder soup is full of fresh scallops/mussels. Definitely better than well-known Jevouis steak that everyone usually recommends me from their top pocket list.. Will definitely come back again. The reasonable price and all the detail in the food deserves a great big thumb 👍

Growing up my family would always go to Lord Nelson’s for birthdays, which means I’ve been going to this restaurant literally for decades. It looks pretty much identical to how I remember it when I was a child - but that’s partly why I love coming back here. The food is delicious. Sometimes you don’t want fancy restaurant food, you want delicious pub food, and this would be the best place to go. This time I had the Camembert to start which I actually get every time because I think it’s so good & Shaslick marinara: steak with bacon wrapped scallops and prawns. The steak was cooked perfectly and the seafood was juicy and delicious. My partner had the Angus fillet with horseradish cream and he loved it. The vegetables and potato croquet on the side were so good I’m still thinking about them now. This isn’t the sort of place where you get a small fancy portion of food with a weird sauce. It’s one of the only restaurants around that serves really good meals, not too expensive, with a cool 80’s vibe.

Charming old school restaurant. Old fashioned service which you know will want to do as much as they can to have you enjoy your meal. And the steaks. Are. Incredible. For what is on offer, reasonably priced. Thinking about my next visit already...

It was a good experience last week. Staff informed me upfront that they are busy and I might have to wait for up to 30 minutes until they are able to take an order. Wasn't that long I had to wait. Placed my order and food arrived within a reasonable time however, my drink did not arrive until I asked twice for it. The food was delicious 😋 and my steak was perfect. Side orders were yummy.

Ambience is really nice and rustic. Had the peppercorn filet steak, medium rare, as well as the garlic bread and chocolate mud cake and blue margarita (same price as regular margarita, just with blue curaçao added) and cosmopolitan. Little pricey but EVERYTHING was really good. Black napkins were gorgeous and super absorbent as well!!

Good food, great service, and the steak was cooked exactly how I liked it and tasted great! This is great value for dining in Central Auckland…and the old English pub-like feel is also very cool! Once inside you even forget you’re in the hustle and bustle of the city for a while. Would recommend and definitely return in future.

The carpet bag steak used to be a real proper steak, not this thick cut, no less, but under 200gm for sure. Stuffed with....2 little oysters. Used to be better.

Walked in on a whim on a busy Saturday night. We were promptly taken care of and seated in a gorgeous little booth as soon as one became available. The menu was surprising. The food came out super fast despite the staff being run off their feet. The meals were impeccable!! The meats were cooked to perfection. Absolutely faultless. And the tiramisu was hands down the best I have ever had. Great pricing to boot! Will definitely be back!!

Great experience at Tony's! My husband had the Lord Nelson steak medium and he got medium-rare which was what he was aiming for. I had the soup dunjour (chicken and cauliflower) which was delicious. The mussels weren't that great but still good. A bonus is that they offer rice as a side which is rare to see in restaurants. Loved my order. ❤️ The ambiance is very English family bar restaurant without the bar. The 2 person booth looked very cozy. Preferred the 4 person booth for the 2 of us for more room. The waitress was funny too! She was really good and attentive and on to it. Would love to come back and try other meals.

Amazing service and steaks! We were impressed with every single order, and the booth seating is intimate. Ambiance - wonderfully old world.

Great place, had an extensive range of food to choose from and would accommodate most people. The steak I had was cooked to perfection. The Lamb shank my partner had was the best we have tasted.
