If I could give zero stars I would. Ruined my friends birthdays due to their lack of care when taking online bookings. They even called to confirm the booking and then were completely unhelpful with trying to accommodate our party to make alternative arrangements even though it was their error with not making the booking correctly in their system. Extremely disappointed and would not recommend.

We have never experienced service quite like it. We had a 6.30pm seating and was told there would be another table of people coming at 8.30pm so we would have to finish up then. At 8.15pm we had the waitresses literally taking the tablecloth up from underneath us and trying to take away our full glasses. One of the waitresses told us we had to scull our drinks and leave. There was space up the other end of the restaurant for us to stand around and finish up but they wouldn't even let us do that even though we were out of the way and the next group hadn't even arrived. We will most definitely never return!

Booked the function room here 3 months in advance for my 30th and confirmed my booking. When we arrived last night the function room I had booked had been given away to another group, which is completely unacceptable. My function was shafted to a table by the toilets that couldn't even accommodate my whole group. We were offered the room back and to have the other group moved if we paid $900 up front. Spent most of my 30th stressing about how to seat my guests and having to negotiate with the customers next to us when they were going to leave so we could add their table to ours, and arranging to have my unseated guests arrive the same they left. We were given a free BYO charge (which is only $1 anyway). This was not satisfactory compensation. Waitress missed 6 of us off the table when taking our food order. A couple of our meals were served so late we didn't have time to finish them before our next venue booking at 10.15pm. But still had to pay for them.

We had our Marriage reception here and had our own room in the restaurant without extra fees. The manager was very in detail on what we want, told us everything we need to do prior to our reservation. They only have a BYO drinks for only $1 per person. Their food were delicious. Definitely one of the best Thai food in Auckland City. Definitely will recommend to my friends and will come back here.

Chicken satay was good. Green curry was very average for the price. Service was poor. Staff taking unfinished dishes without asking just to get the next customer in.

The entrance to De Grand is interesting as you go through an ice cream parlour. We made a booking which was a good idea since the place was packed. They have a digital menu which you order from. It was also interesting that they had free corkage if you spent $25 per person. We grabbed some entrees and mains to share. The food came as they were ready. Both the pad Thai and pad see ew had a nice flavour. The curry puff was nice albeit a bit oily. The curries were also not bad. I wasn't a fan of the summer rolls though. The food here was quite nice and they were quite efficient considering how busy the place was. As we left they were taking the tables from the ice cream parlour and cafe in the front to seat more people. Booking is recommended if you are wanting to try the place.

Bit of a strange place, chaotic maybe. You enter through an ice cream shop, which was very confusing. I wouldn't recommend for a quiet evening, full of people about to go into town. Probably the strangest part was we were told when we ordered that everyone had to have at least $25 worth of food. Two people from my table didn't want food, so the waitress said they had to order 4 beers each, which was much more than $25 and seems very irresponsible as a host. The bathrooms were poorly cleaned, reminded me of a club. The chairs we had (and I can't believe I'm having to complain about chairs) would flip over and crash onto the ground as soon as anyone went to stand up. It was highly annoying. I did think the food was relatively good and didn't have anything to complain about on that front. But overall, this was just a strange dinning experience.

Poor service. Waiters bringing food to table we didn’t even order. Getting over charged for everything at the end. Food was also bland and tasteless. As someone also with a peanut allergy, I let them know in advance and when arriving they said they couldn’t guarantee anything and that you had to order and eat at your own risk.

Great food and $3 corkage for BYO. They didn’t give us any warning that our booking was nearly up and started clearing glasses abruptly and taking drinks that still had wine in them

Disappointment. This place raised a few questions, starting from the entrance through an ice cream kiosk. We sat in a wind tunnel and asked a waiter to close the door. After a few minutes of intense consultations they closed another door. The wind was unbelievable. The weather didn't know the prices for the fish, asked around, and brought a receipt for all the fish dishes. The food arrived quickly. I was expecting a nice spicy snapper that would justify $42 - not this time. The dish was plain and small. Well, knowing when not to go next is also insightful.

We ended up here without a reservation, but they were very accommodation. Food was great, really enjoyed it. Note, when they spicy, they mean Thai spicy!

One of my faforite places I visit very often. Friendly staff and a great vibe. I will go back again and again and never get bored of the place. If you go there and you meet the friendly owner David, tell him Shaun says hi, and you might just get a good discount

Friendly staff, cozy, authentic Thai food. The price balance with the taste. 4 stars because the flies keep coming to our food.

Placed an order for pickup via their website - this store is no longer De GRAND and no longer open, despite the website indicating you can buy from Ponsonby!

Extremely poor experience overall. Food took over an hour to arrive, it arrived separately and some are still waiting on it. The service was non existent and it’s overpriced for what it is. Much better Thai restaurants across town, would avoid.

Food and service was amazing for Mother's Day. Such fresh beautiful food. Thanks for a lovely afternoon. You managed our table of 14 people perfectly with food served together.

My favorite BYO spot in Auckland. Food is great, cheap corkage. Friendly staff and a great buzzy atmosphere with fellow BYO patrons on a Friday night

The food was nice! Did not like that we were sitting in the Boozy Gelato part of the restaurant, not a great place to eat while people are pouring in and out!

Really good food. We did the lunch deal and I had a Thai beef salad cooked to perfection. Will go again.

The food was pretty good, but the service is average at best. Very festive as long as you don't mind most of your fellow diners making use of the $3 per person BYO offer.

Absolutely delicious Thai food. I'm still dreaming about the chicken with peanut sauce. Decent sized portions and they didn't skimp on meat. Recommend getting the mixed appetizers so you can try a few things. They are also BYO which makes it more affordable if you want to have a few glasses of wine!

Good food, great service, heaps of gelato ice cream for a reasonable price. An average thai restaurant that you can come to every weekend.

Went on a Saturday night, and the food is pretty good just a bit pricey. Waitresses are hit and miss but the woman in charge is very lovely :) Just a bit toooooo busy and can get a bit loud but it's a nice spot.

Worst food experience for Thai food , we got Mocktails ( which was just sugar syrup) costed us 20$ , the entree were okay , but main course was horrendous , it seems our were mixed with meat. We ordered vegetarian dishes smelt and tasted disgusting, although staff was helpful in changing our dish, won't recommend it and not worth the price we paid.

The service is okay, mostly got ignored repeatedly and waited forever for our order to be taken. The food was meh, ordered the vegetarian pad Thai with tofu which turned out to be excessively sweet, could not taste any other flavour except tons of sugar. The temperature inside the restaurant was extremely hot too with no proper ventilation. Felt like a sauna in there!

The food here is delicious! Loved the Pad Thai noodles and Thai curry. There were plenty of vegetarian options also available. The vibe at night is amazing. Even the service is fast and very friendly. Will definitely visit again.
