Small thai vegetarian restaurant on High Street, and it always get busy during dinner time. Crispy chicken is one of their famous dish here and I second that, so crispy and delicious. Salt & pepper tofu was good as a side dish but not as a main IMO as it was a little dry to eat with rice. The portion seems to be smaller now, but still really good value if you are looking for cheap eats in city. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend this place. Delicious vegan Thai food, this place reminds me of a typical Thai restaurants, but VEGAN, this was paradise. Not a fancy place, but the food is tasty, and the prices are reasonable. I saw they have beer as well. I would like more vegan desserts: mango sticky rice, anybody? :D and the toilet needs to be renewed. 😬 I had the chicken with cashews extremely good!! You most paid attention when you are trying to do find this place, I passed two times in front and I didn't realized, is in between of two other restaurants and you have to enter and walk 30 seconds to find it.

If you're a vegan, this'll be your heaven. So many different options, whether you like mock meat or just plant based tofu and veggies, there's something for everyone. (Do yourself a favor and try the 'mutton: kebab and then the fried 'chicken'.) Bring your meat eater friends too! They'll adore trying things and they'll admit it's good!

Fantastic restaurant! Crispy chicken on rice is very nice! It’s flavourful and tasty. Will absolutely come back again. We already have been here for so so many times but we never feel enough! The spicy chicken on rice is my favourite! It’s Korean style spicy 🌢️ so many options to choose from. Tom Yum Gong soup is my partner’s favourite 🀩! We are happy that here is a vegan restaurant near our home 😌should be enough words…

We had the vegan crispy pork belly. This dish should win a price or something. Very well made, taste, texture, colour wise. Very flavourful for a vegan dish. It can be difficult to get that depth in a dish. The fried tofu dish was also very good. Good tasting tofu, lots of vegetables.

Edit: 29/9/19 - Went to Sunflower last night. Service and food had increased so much It was great.. Good food. Last time we came they were out of Tofu which was extremely strange for a Vegetarian and/or Vegan restaurant and this time they are out of mock oysters which I love. Service is so so...expect to go upto the counter to place your order. Also last time we came an ordered item was forgotten. Some music would be nice as well. .... Went back to the restaurant a couple of weeks ago. Service had gone absolutely down hill. Things on the order were missed. Had to go up and remind them we ordered drinks. My disk was a starchy glunk of a tasteless mess. Never going back. Sort it out Sunflower. TRAIN YOUR STAFF!

We were looking forward to this experience. The place has dozens of options, and it was not easy to choose. Eventually we took a chicken and a sunflower soup. I enjoyed the soup: there was a plenty of it and the tastes were sophisticated. My partner said that his dish was too sweet. We also weren't really sure whether this was a regular chicken or some vegan version. Overall, the place is not very pleasant, the eat-quickly-and-go-quickly sort of type.

This is a vegetarian restaurant with mock meat options that made from soy. Ordered a Massamun Curry and Green Curry. The green curry is unexpectedly β€œnot green”, turn out to be white with too much coconut milk. Overall taste is great provided that you enjoy the strong taste of coconut milk in curry. The portion size is β€œAsian style”, that means smaller than your usual NZ portion, but still comfortably fill me.

Continues to be my favourite vegaΓ±/vegetarian restaurant. Friends don't believe it is fake fish, chicken, etc If you want to learn how you can continue to eat your favourite dishes and be vegan/vegetarian, go try their crunchy or spicy chicken and the sweet and sour crumbed fish. The decor is simple, relaxed, more Cafe style. The focus is the wonder-filled food. I know you will enjoy the surprise. Highly recommended You can eat there knowing no animals were hurt in the process. πŸ€£πŸ™

Business partner brought me here to try vegan for the first time. Although I can't say I would convert to full vegan, the food here was amazing. The curries were rich in taste and the pork belly and crispy chicken was well above my expectations. Would definitely recommend.

First time trying out vegan food and it was unexpectedly good. Ordered crispy chicken with rice as well as spicy chicken and it was out of this world. The crispy salt & pepper tofu too, was delicious. Will come here again next time when I visit Auckland again!

Choice little joint. Not big, but cosy. Really good portion size. Quick and friendly service. Great variety of options. Kung pow cauliflower was delicious, pan fried spring rolls were like an upside down tear pancake & awesome. Affordable and super yum. Recommend for a quick delicious meal

I had the yellow noodles with vegan chicken and they were amazing! However the crispy tofu was the "soft kind" (texture wise) which is not my favourite. But I really recommend this place!

I wanted to like this place, it's hard enough finding vegetarian food and Thai food on top of that?? I'm sold!! I ordered my spicy chicken on rice enthusiastically and waited for my order. Unfortunately, when I got my dish I was duly disappointed. The 'vegan chicken' was nothing more than crumbs of batter (see photos for size). It felt like they just piled a bunch of leftover crumbs from the bottom of the bag. Looking at other photos, indeed it seems like it's supposed to be proper big pieces and not the tiny crumbs that I got. Definitely not worth the 18.90 that I spent. Maybe I just got unlucky, but this makes me question wanting to come back again...

I absolutely adore Sunflower cafe. I have tried many different items on the menu and thoroughly enjoy the marriage between Asian and vegan food. The staff are consistently helpful, sweet, and warm. The restaurant is always clean and cosy. It is a great place to go both with groups or to eat alone. This is easily one of my favourite eating venues.

What's wrong with the service here? I visited it again yesterday (last time was before Covid) and met the new staff (a fat girl) who took my order with very grumpy behaviour. Not sure if that bad energy effects on my meal but the taste isn't as nice as before. From the different taste, guess the owner or chef changed, basically disappointed n don't wanna come back again

Always friendly staff that offer a diverse selection of Thai vegetarian options. It's always fun trying to taste the difference between the soy based meat and real meat. You come here for great value vegetarian food and fast service. Don't expect anything fancy. Highly recommend the soy chicken or green curry. Take the bean rice option, definitely worth the upgrade πŸ‘Œ

I have never been a big fan of vegan/vege food but wanted to give it a go. Let me say this was amazing !!! The flavours were so yum, the salad was well seasoned and the spring rolls were so delicious. I ordered the spicy chicken on rice, the kumara rolls and the spring rolls. I also got lost trying to find this place and the lovely lady from the restuarant guided me on the phone and brought my order outside so that I didnt have to walk much further. What great customer service. Highly recommend, thank you so much.

Everything here was delicious. Went back a second time on the trip because we couldn't eat everything we wanted to try on the menu the first time. My favorite was definitely the spicy crispy chicken, my partner loved their hot and sour soup.

Well well well.... i had been transported to Thailand for the time of eating this delicious meal.. pad thai and red curry are the basics when trying a thai place for the first time. But it wasn't our first try. We love this place. Thank you for the chef and staff for the service, it was a delight. Will come back again for sure. The only downside of this worthy place is its location: in a dark corner of the busy High Street

I was first introduced to sunflower 🌻 3 years ago on the recommendation of many local friends who said this was the best vegan spot in the city. I have been a regular since then, and can confirm, sunflower never misses. I usually get the spicy chicken on rice & the red bean pancake. Both are to die for. When I first had the "chicken", I could not believe that this was vegan. I have also heard that the pork belly is to die for. The staff are always so lovely and helpful. It is always such a pleasure visiting, and it has become my comfort meal. It is always consistent, delicious & fresh. Will always keep coming back here & recommending for everyone to give it a try. Thanks for all the delicious meals and great conversation 🌻🌻🌻

I have always loved this place, but since it changed hands I think it's been even better. It's clear the new owners are bringing fresh ideas to their menu, and as a long time patron it is appreciated. I can still go for my old time favourites, but I also get to enjoy a delicious dessert if I want. The roti with banana and chocolate was so so tasty. We love that our picky family can all find something to enjoy here.

Love the all vegetarian menu! We ordered the Thai basil with rice and crispy pork belly and let me tell you, the texture of that pork belly is so real!! The Thai green curry was creamy and spicy with pieces of vege chicken, bamboo shoots and vege

Crazy realistic fake vegan meat options & so you look twice on the menu if all of it is vegan πŸ˜… Food was delicious! Location could be a little bit more cosy otherwise totally recommend that place!

The restaurant is located in the back of what looks like a food court. Keep heading back and follow the signs until you reach the restaurant. The menu is quite extensive and it is all surprisingly vegan. I ordered at the counter and then grabbed an empty table. I was given water after sitting down. I grabbed the pad Thai and it was quite tasty. The flavours were nice and a bit different, I'm guessing due to the addition of other veges that you don't normally see in it like beans. It was a really nice place for a really good meal without meat.

This place is well suited for vegetarians and vegans, even though the menu may say chicken or beef it's actually all plant based. Nice food, reasonable prices for serving size. Staff seemed to be friendly enough. Premises could do with updating though.

Food was Soo good, I had the red curry, which was full of goodness, I walked in and was greeted by a smile which is always great, very polite people. Yeah like I said I had the red curry which I really liked. The only thing I would say is that maybe a larger portion of rice, but honestly it wasn't a big deal.

Really nice food and not too expensive. It is more of a cafe that serves dinners as well so it's not a flash place. But there are heaps of vegan and gluten free items on the menu. You have to ask to check for gluten free. Recommended. But note that they don't accept credit cards.

Cosy and casual atmosphere in a little corner of High street, with great quality food that tastes truly authentic, and a good price for the amount of food served. The chef definitely know their way around their ingredients, and presentation is always meticulous. Usually enough sitting space around, however can get busier around dinner time. Oh, and did I mention that everything in vegan? One of my personal all-time favourite restaurant which I take my friends and family to time and time again, and never ceases to fail! Huge thumbs up, highly recommended.

Wow ! We almost felt guilty eating the crispy β€œchicken” - we shared that and a red curry between us and it was so good my glasses fogged up. Dinner for two for under $40 and friendly service ... raving.
