We went to this pub for drinks, nibbles, and the weekly trivia competition. The bar was packed, with very loud and lively music. We ordered our drinks and food and settled in for the trivia game. While we enjoyed playing the game (and ended up winning 2nd place), it was annoying that the music was so loud, it was difficult to hear the questions. Other than that, we had a good time. The food and drinks were good and everyone had fun. Would 100% return to this pub.

Ordered through Uber Eats. Driver was quick and the food had good flavour, but everything was cold and the portions were small for the price. The burger’s bottom bun was really soggy. The best thing was the coleslaw, I like the raisins they put in it.

First time for me here and it was one to remember. Coming back from a stint in Australia I thought the prices here were on point! The portions were just right and the selections plenty. I ordered the Lamb Shank and it was good! Was hoping it would fall off the bone but all is good. I still enjoyed it as well as the rest of the family. The service was above and beyond and the waiter was so patient with our table! Would definitely be back here. Give it a go if you're around the area.

Spacious place for parties ! Attended New year party for 2021 there with dj music n dancing arrangements. Loved my visit there!

Meal was good but wearing face masks is apparently not a requirement here when it's still mandatory for hospitality staff? Just started the entrees when the mains came out. No follow up if everything was ok by the waitresses. Thought my partner and I would have a pleasant meal out but it was over so quickly.

Went to black salt on a Saturday . Great bar staff . But never seen food so bad Fries cold and under cooked in cold Oil .. replaced and still the same . Calamari salad well over cooked iin cold oil and not a salad .. fish and chips .. yuk in a basket .. no seasoning .

We eat here regularly, the food is excellent and staff are friendly. Plenty to choose on the menu from salads to steaks

We usually go here for the 2 for 1 deal, now we've been in lockdown for months im starting to miss this place. The atmosphere is really chill The grill deal is really good, definitely worth the price The cocktails are ok, the sticky date pudding is incredible

It was a Tuesday night, and we'd turned up after finding nowhere else open at 8 pm. It was surprisingly busy, and the gruff but amenable bar tender said that it wasn't unusual. They've got a great big front courtyard here, which is a great spot for an after work drink in the sun. The menu was so, so, and as we weren't particularly hungry, we opted for a couple of small plates, and when the waitress came to take our order, she was hilariously unable to hold a poker face when I asked if they were any good. Taking our queue from the wrinkling of her nose, we changed our order completely. The meals came in good time but everything tasted like old oil. It was a bit disappointing, and I wished we hadn't chosen deep-fried options. Over- all, it was a nice atmosphere and the service was good. Food was a letdown, but next time, I might choose a different meal.

Huge thanks to the kitchen team for accommodating my vegetarian requirements when the veggie pasta had run out! Servers could have made a few extra dollars for the bar if they’d been a bit more proactive. Great spot and a nice vibe for a post game meal with mates.

Food, location and surroundings is amazing but quite challenging if you are coming with car as hard to find parking and if you are lucky enough to get parking you have to move in one hour. Very busy area so we’ll plan ahead before coming. Food is very amazing, wonderful chef and nice selection of dishes. Upper party hall is not suitable for people with special need as stairs are quite high and wheel chairs access not impossible without the support of support people. No lift to take people so prepare before you go.

I recently had a venue upstairs at Totara Events Centre. The staff of Black Salt were extremely helpful and easy to work with. They went above and beyond to deliver and this allowed the event to run smoothly. Tanya was great to correspond with over email and/or phone, and made the whole process run with ease. Food was good too. I would definitely recommend hiring this space if holding an event!

Great food. The projector (that barely worked) mounted with zip ties and tape wasn't so good. It's hanging over customer heads for gods sake 🤷‍♂️

We had a booking but on arrival it was hard to know where to check in - at the bar or to the girl standing by the counter a bit further down. We ended up speaking with the girl, who then left us standing there with not much communication. After about 5 mins of standing there, we were taken to our seats. We order drinks and food. No one offered further drinks or water when we ran out, so we ended up at the bar to order our drinks. Food was ok but no veg with the steak or the pork loin (if we had known this we would've order veg). Finished our meals and noobe offered us the desert menu so we paid and left A bit disappointing that the service wasn't all that great and it wasn't crazy busy

Came in on a Thursday night. Great service from the waiter. We were seated and then our drinks soon followed. We ordered food came promptly. We ordered the scotch steak and the mussells. WOW! The scotch steak meal was soooo gooood. COOKED TO PERFRCTION and a steal for $25. And the mussels were amazing and big. Wished I had taken pictures. 10/10 team.

Nice place to catch up with mates, live band was great! Vibes were on and the kai was outstanding! Prices are above average for a bar but still a great place for a few beers after mahi.

My husband and I dined in here today and watched the UFC. We love the food, mocktails/cocktails, superb service and atmosphere. I will definitely bring my other relatives here +kids. We spent almost $100 all in, what a treat!

Weird place. Touted as the place to watch sports games I rocked up to watch a game and have a beer on Saturday night. The game was on but they wouldn't turn the volume up?! I asked the waitress - she looked blank. Instead they had karaoke and then resorted to a house playlist. Really odd, really average. Food average and over-priced too. $13 a pint. Pass.

It would be great if the TV sound wasn't so loud. Not many actually here to watch the sport, I think the food might be what they've come for. That's why I keep coming back. TV's far too loud.

Although we did not try any food items our booking was screwed up and priority was given to a bunch of drunk people watching the footy even though we had booked 2 days in advance.

One of our go to’s for family dinners. Service is amazing, the staff are always accommodating. The food is great hence the repeat number of visits. Atmosphere is loud and good for drowning out the kids being noisy lol Prices and Serving size are spot on.

Early Friday lunch so atmosphere was to be expected. But food was great and family enjoyed a nice afternoon. 👍

Booked for a table of 6. We were greeted by amazing staff. Delicious food and a great evening to be there. One of the best we have come across in a while. We look forward to be visiting more often.

Love the meals and friendly staff..Had to wait a long time for our meals and not a busy place that's why I gave 4 out of 5 stars. Went Saturday and Sunday evening for dinner. Lamb Shank a little dry but Fish and Chips yummy on Friday. Lamb Shank perfect and Garlic Prawns yummy on Sunday. Will be back!!

4 of us girls went for a Birthday Celebration on a Saturday night at 7pm. Food was great. Looking for live music which wasn't happing inside. As we were checking out we asked about the music. Told it was outside. Which we went and enjoyed after dances and other customers enjoyment. We left. Would be helpful if customers know music and dance is outside. 👍

Attended a social gathering here for the first time. The venue was good and COVID protocol adhered to. A comfortable hosting hall. Fresh, tasty snacks and food backed by efficient and friendly staff. The lady bartender was very professional courteous and efficient Will definately consider hosting in this venue, if an opportunity presents its-self

We dined here on the steak special night, the food was soooo good and the service was great, especially the friendly barman. We enjoyed a couple of cocktails from the bar as well which were really nice and the prices were reasonable for food and drinks. We recommend this place for a tasty meal and great customer service, we will definitely return to try other meals on the menu, I think next visit will be the 2 for 1 stone grill special.

Came here to celebrate a 40th birthday. Venue was immaculate on arrival even the downstairs bar and eatery too. Loved the vibe, staff were very attentive. Upstairs where the venue was held was clean, very spacious for dancing or games and it was away from the public eye. Bar attendant did a great job managing drinks and shots that night. A great place to hire for large functions. Highly recommend!

Had my 21st Birthday party here on January 29th and honestly had the best night. The Bartenders were amazing. They provided exceptional service. The drinks they made were also amazing. The food! Stars are for the customer service as they catered to our last minute Mother’s Day booking of 10pax. The whole place is pretty neat, lots of seating available indoors and outdoor, the toilets are clean. Bar is a pretty good set up, they also have the screens available with the league/sports on. It would be 5 stars if waiting times for food weren’t so ridiculous. I get it’s busy especially for Mothers Day. Maybe they were short staffed but waiting times for food were well over an hour and the bigger family after us has to sit there and watch us eat they waited almost and hour and a half. Yes we totally understand it is super busy, but the least they could do is when taking orders for larger groups of families maybe it’s wise to give them a heads up and let them know of the waiting times or even approach us while we are sitting there waiting the whole hour and communicate that meals are on their way or almost there just let us know there is a bit of a wait so we are aware as other families had children crying they were hungry so they sat there next to us watching us eat. The meal portions were very small for the price we paid extremely disappointing as we’ve had pasta more reasonably priced elsewhere and had double the portion we received that night. The gravy or whatever sauce it was on the steaks was not nice at all. It was terrible. Caesar salad with grilled chicken came with more cos lettuce than anything, poached egg was over cooked and the grilled chicken was probably two pieces of chicken tenders that were broken up into tiny bite pieces x Overall the experience was ok.

My mate hired the place upstairs for a birthday party. We went there in the morning to decorate the place. Got there and the floor wasn't vacuumed and the walls are so dirty. The speakers not working so we had to bring our own. For the amount of money my mate paid for the hirage and stuff aren't in good condition! During the event there was a bar tab going and the way they record the drinks was on pen and paper, come on now... there's no cash register, how would they know the total??? I don't see any calculator around??? So dodgee...

Partner and I had dinner. Service was great, food was amazing. Relaxed and chilled atmosphere. Definitely will be coming back. Cheers guys.

A nice Stone Grill is always an experience in itself. Combine that with a flavorsome cocktail and you have a wonderful spot for date night. The pricing is certainly reasonable and the atmosphere bears similarity to that of Lone Star and The Hanger fitting itself snuggly in between

Went here for the first time, for dinner with a friend, last night.Our meals including desert were delicous and there were plenty of options to choose from. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. We felt well looked after. Prices were reasonable, we will definitely go back.

Went to black Salt on a Saturday arvo, vibes were good on a nice sunny day. I ordered the fish and chips - a Staple kiwi favourite. Chips were solid and nicely smashed down. The fish was not my favourite for sure as it did not suit my palette. The salad was filler - tough to eat

Whenever we come here it's only for drinks, we do order the platters though can't complain. Venue is clean, bathroom clean. The Tongan bar man is on to it, very accomodating the 5 stars is because of him. But please can you guys get a new TV outside for us when we come to watch the rugby lol
