Beautiful garden in town. Perfect spot for photography addict. Such a stunning place if one day you’re feeling like you just want to hide away from all traffic and the busy flow of city life. My dog was happy ! :)

Stress reliever always . My family and grandchildren love this place, thank you Auckland Council for maintaining the place. So happy to see Santan flower also known as Ixora, Jungle geranium - reminds me back home. Few people so their photo shoot for weddings and life big events. Heaps of parking as well.

Absolutely gorgeous little garden escape in the middle of Auckland CBD. We came here on a cold and wet winter day and it was like a little warm and cosy rainforest sanctuary. Some beautiful plants and natural wonders.. worth checking out if you’ve got a green thumb or enjoy flower conservatories

Love it as it is not very big but has so many kinds of flowers and very colorful. It is inside the glass house and has many tropical species. It is very closed to other places in town. Perfect for short walk from the city.

Took a quick bus from Britomart to get to the gardens. Flowers were quite lovely and picturesque. The tropical house was undergoing some renovations so was not open at the time. Would definitely recommend visiting. There is also plenty to do nearby the gardens too e.g. cafe and museum

Winter garden located close to the domain mesuem, with two sections filled with flowers and plants. Botanist here taking time and really look after the details of the plants, nicw efforts. In the middle there's a fountain with a pond, some statues here with posture. Worthwhile coming here during different seasons, as flowers are constantly rearranged. 😘👍

Fantastic exotic flowers, wisteria vines with gorgeous flowers and intoxicating scents. Buildings and trellises built in 1927 gives the place a cool retro look. The best part is there is NO entrance fee - it's free.

The meticulous attention to detail, the diverse plant collection, and the overall tranquility made it a destination that I will undoubtedly revisit time and time again. I wholeheartedly recommend this botanical haven to anyone seeking a respite from the urban pace and a chance to reconnect with nature's marvels.

Beautiful gardens. It's been closed for some time after Covid but was so nice to be able to visit again. The best part its free and close to the Auckland War Memorial Museum.

I love this place nestled into the heart of the City probably over 100 years ago. Its architecture, the ferns and the flowers on a sunlit and blue sky day, it provides a tonic of peace love and tranquility. The little ornate statues rock my world especially. I've seen some extraordinary performances inside its trelace covered treacle brick colored walls. Peaceful and fascinating.

If you're looking for a place to relax and enjoy beautiful scenery, the gardens and Bush at this location are a perfect choice. The vibrant flowers that bloom year-round create a stunning backdrop, and the atmosphere is truly special. One of the things I love most about this place is the variety of activities you can do here. Whether you prefer walking through the gardens or exploring the Bush, there is something for everyone. The museum is also a great place to learn about the local history and culture. Personally, this place holds a special place in my heart as I used to bring my little child over here who is now grown up young lady. Overall, if you're looking for a beautiful and peaceful place to relax and enjoy nature, this location is a must-visit. The gardens, Bush, and museum are all worth exploring, and the memories you'll create here will be cherished for a lifetime. Maria Auckland

This is a beautiful and tranquil piece of Auckland history and completely free to visit. The glass houses are a riot of colour and full of beautiful flora. They have been recently refurbished and earthquake strengthened and look fresh and we'll kept. There is some lovely statuary un the courtyard and an adjoining fernery to enjoy. A nice stroll to enjoy on your Museum visit

9 of the girls had a lovely time sharing high tea on a Sunday afternoon. The choices of tea catered to all our tastes. They also cater for gluten free, and I had a tier of yummy goodies to myself. Thank you to the cafe staff. We all enjoyed the tea and goodies, and had a really good time.

Beautiful, old school greenhouse, with the old steam pipes running under the floor, an oasis in the winter. Some very rare succulents are on display, along with many mature tropical examples. Definitely worth a visit.

Great little tip many may not know, if you touch the mimosa plant in the centre of the tropical plants greenhouse, it has a tactile response and it's leaves move... Very cool, kids will love it but we should all be gentle with it, it's a sensitive plant 🌿 🌿😊

Excellent place to visit all year round. Tidy well kept gardens. The smell you get here is simply amazing, each area has its own unique fragrance. Rare tropical plants, wonderful architecture. Easy access for everyone including people on a mobility scooter or wheel chair. Opening hours is uploaded to my pictures.

Seems crazy but there is a place that takes you away from the noise, hustle & bustle of Auckland city. Was wonderful to spend time wondering around looking heaps of different blooms and historic enclosed glass houses. The multiple natural flower scents to excite the nostrils. Well worth a wander!

So pretty 😍 I love plants so this was great for me. It was very quiet and peaceful. Very clean too! There are benches to sit and admire or just hang out by the fountain. It was all lovely

Beautiful and unique flowers grow here! The groundskeepers are extremely knowledgeable and share tips about the recent blooms. There are two green houses and a beautiful fountain between the two houses. Also, check out all the ferns in the fernery! The lower you go, the cooler it gets. If you have time, walk around the park area just outside to see and hear the beautiful birds. Very tranquil! No tickets necessary to enter, and ample parking is around.

One of the few places that is worth visiting even at straight sunlight as the shadow is beautiful inside. And the glasshouse diffuses the light so it’s always soft and nice.

The staff are very knowledgeable and are willing to share information on plants not only on the winter garden but if you have any questions about your home garden and indoor plants. Every plant looked well looked after and happy. Makes the visitors happy. Beautiful place for pre wedding shoots.

Sensational spring flowering display. Despite one wintergarden being under renovation, the one that was open was purely stunning with all the potted flowers in full bloom. Cannot believe this place is free to get into. A must visit for garden lovers.

The Wintergardens are beautiful, well kept and just great. So much variety of colour in front of you, as well as this some nice seating areas to just sit and be in. Maybe the signage could but put in more languages other than English as I saw many people touching plants and putting their hands in the pond.

Absolutely love this place. Curious sculptures, gorgeous orchids, and massive carnivorous plant displays. Always warm so probably more pleasant during cooler weather. Love the styling of the massive greenhouses and fountain pond. Would make a sweet venue for a romantic occasion - wedding, anniversary, picnic by the fountain.

Disappointed to see that they are closed for renovations, however I understand they are at the moment under covers . The out side gardens are still great with colour .

Always something new and different to see when I come here. Nice to sit on a bench relax and take it all in. Worth taking a look even if you only have a few minutes.

We chanced about this venue when walking across the Auckland parks and Domain etc. We walked almost 12 kms on the day and this was one of the highlights. Very beautiful and soothing. We loved the variety and the care being taken off them. Fantastic photo opportunities. The outer areas were disappointing and not too much happening there - wonder why?

We visited a few days ago, the parking can be tricky so it may be best to come earlier in the morning (especially if you have a pram or wheelchair as the place itself gets busier in the afternoon on Sunday). The plants were all well-maintained in general and there are some benches to have a bit of rest or areas where you can take photos while being mindful of the other guests. It’s not as big as the Hamilton Gardens but still a beauty to behold in the city with a variety of summery/tropical flowers and wintery/spring blossoms.

  • 5/5 Paul W. 1 year ago on Google
Plant lovers start here! Beautiful floral displays and just outside - the most wonderful gardens.

  • 5/5 Jacob C. 1 year ago on Google
Exquisitely maintained botanical garden. While small, well worth a visit. There are birds flying in and out of the buildings happily chattering around, beautiful flowers, nice greenery, what more to like? Again, the gardens are a bit on the small side, but still I would say that it's a good day when you go to the War Museum, the botanical garden, and the sensory garden all in one day. Recommended if you're already at the museum! It's just a 5 minute walk and it's very beautiful.

The greenhouse is fabulous, with so many beautiful flowers. Although not big, it has such a huge variety of flowers! Whoever thought of the layout did a masterful job. Nothing overpowers any section, and the whole world together. It is just a short walk from the Auckland War Memorial and Museum. Don't miss this!

the winter garden may not be as good as it used to be since all the plants are new. Nonetheless, I still want to express my appreciation to all the individuals who put in their hard work to renovate the winter garden and create the current environment.
