It's a nice reserve with a little beach, good sized playground, and BBQ, picnic, and toilet facilities. There are steps leading into the water, in case you want to have a swim. There are benches all along the way. The beach hut is closed at the moment, and behind it is a good fishing spot. As you come down the road, there is parking on the right, but there is more parking closer to the water. When you enter the reserve it splits to the Manukau Coastal Walkway on the right, which offers more walking and hiking trails.

Beautiful park area with a nice playground. Plenty of space and a huge beach at low tide. Really nice atmosphere.

Lovely picnic spot with small beach and kids playground. Beautiful greenery with grasses. You can hear bird's natural creeping sounds. Have public toilets and outside shower spots. Parking spots are not sufficient in busy days.

It is a nice place to explore on the outgoing tide, especially around the rocks. Can be good fishing on the right day, and sometimes you get to see some interesting marine life.

Nice little park and beach area surrounded by developed trees. Quite a few seats too for a picnic. The park ia good for 2 year olds up and has a large slide maybs 10m long, a ship, big climbing ropes, swings and other activities. It seems quite quiet and its easy to park too.

Discover Blockhouse Bay Beach Reserve! This is a pretty spot and the beach reserve is lovely for a play in the sand and a paddle in the water. The pirate playground is ideal for younger children and parts of it including a picnic table provide natural shade under the trees. There is a tube slide tucked in the trees coming down the hill and children enjoy the "sunken pirate ship", Mulberry Bush, Pirate Tower and swings. BBQ, drinking fountain, park benches, picnic tables and public toilets all available. There is a small carpark. You can walk around the path out to the coast (there is no fence along this path). Important note: If you are wanting to swim here it is advised you check the water quality and safe swimming conditions beforehand.

Was recently introduced to Blockhouse Bay Beach Reserve, and what a great little spot. Love taking photos as the sun rises.. and here it's is awesome! The Good: easy to get to, decent playground, public toilets, changing rooms, park, and has been clean and tidy when I've been. Not so good: beach is a little small (but it is in a bay), small carpark (additional carpark a few meters up the road), on a fine day.. it's packed.. Personally, I like to have a bit of space and freedom at the beach... So as much as it's a great spot.. it does get a tad crowded for my liking. πŸ‘

Loved coming down here with my favourite missionary Elder WARDLE. We did some phat manu's in the water. Chatted up a few adlays and went fishing. Mean times. Definitely the coolest ZL to go swimming with.

There is a walk to the beach via the reserve which is quite moderate. It's a beautiful beach and lot of place to have a picnic. There is a limited parking and a playing ground for the kids. Toilets are available which are open in the evening also. The water is not good for swimming and loads of shells are lying around. When you enter the reserve it splits to the Manukau Coastal Walkway for walking and hiking trails.

I'm a resident of Blockhouse Bay, but I'm not being biased, when I say it is an awesome place. Nice sized parking areas, one being on the beach, the other approx 50 metres away, with beautiful views of Manakau Harbour and The Heads, featuring a scenic walk around the bay. Well worth the visit.

What a beauty of a bay, it is very small but really beautiful. From the center it takes about 45 minutes, but it is worth knowing, if you want to go and relax it is an ideal place.

Surely my favorite spot inside the city. Im an astrophotographer and love the low light in this area. Apart from city lights beaming through. Safe n calm. Has toilets.

Lovely on summer day. Tide needs to be in lots of keen swimmers as it's Autumn. Nice walks in area. Picnic tables and BBQ.

Kids had a lovely play at the playground. Tide was out but still plenty of birds to look at. Plenty of people just wandering around enjoying the grassy areas. Clean and ride area. Great for all ages.

Beautiful n perfect for a walk. Sitting on the beach bench, feeling the cold breeze on my face watching πŸ‘€ the dogs πŸ• enjoying themselves. I love the peaceful, relaxing atmosphere there.

The privacy of this little beach is nice for family beach days. Get in early to get the good spots under the shade.

Great place for kids to play, swim when tide is in, BBQ available, shaded areas under the trees, good parking

Decent little playground alongside Blockhouse Bay reserve and close to the sand and waters edge (when the tide is in). Some BBQs and picnic tables mean a decent spot for a supper and trip to the playground. Annoyingly there are a lot of birds/ducks/sea gulls so beware if eating anything.

Ideal time out place. Wasn't an ideal day by any means what with the continuous drizzle but it is a very peaceful place. So many people frequent this place just to walk the beachfront. Just sitting in the car, listening to some relaxing sounds for an hour or two was bliss. Need to unwind? This is the perfect place PeepsπŸ€—πŸ’• As always stay safe out there❀️

A peaceful place near the water to behold nature. Love it

Nice little bay for a walk, a place to BBQ and a playground for kids to play on. There are short little bush walks near by. The beach is not swimmable as the water is polluted. But a nice place to be close to nature and take a breather with an ice cream or coffee as it's close to the BHB shops.
