Lovelly place for a family picnic, a good walk or paddleboard when the tide is up. Easy access from West Auckland. Good facilities - bathroom, shower, water fountain and two carparks - but be aware the carparka can fill in quite kickly on a sunny day.

Very peaceful. We went to the beach with black sand and the locals walking by were so nice. We saw some crabs on shore as well. I couldn’t even take a proper picture of the shells because the the sand was so dark and the shells were so bright.

Good spot to stop by and spend sometime at thr beach if your visiting the lower dam or heading to the summit up the road. A lot of people come here for fishing, to launch their boats or to enjoy a picnic.

Stunning beach this, especially on a crisp winters morning. The wharf is at one end, there are toilets, doggy bins, terrain is nice and flat. Sounds of birdsong mix in with the noise of jets taking off, which doesnt intrude somehow. There are picnic tables, nice long flat grassy areas, and several access points. Perfect for a winter stroll.

Great spot for shots of the pier. Better on a high tide and Misty day. Could get windy and cold with a southerly wind. Walk to the end of the beach to see some beautiful moss covered rocks. Or to the West to another bay.

A family favourite as it has shaded grass areas right next to the sand so parents can camp while watching the kids. Has access to fresh water, changing rooms and clean public toilets. One downside is that during high tide the beach is covered in sea debris and we have seen jellyfishes coming to the shore. It pays to check the tide before going. Best during low tide.

Love this beautiful black and golden sand beach, it sparkles and my 3 year old boy loves it here, only down side was that the tap was turned off when we were there 🥴

Quiet beach on a weekday. Place to just be with yourself and read a book, relax. Lots of scallops. ^_^ Weekends are still okay too. Tide goes all the way out so its perfect for walks..on soft sand.

Quite place. Hidden Beach in waitekere ranges. Amazing small and beautiful beach. Drive the vehicle to the beach and enjoy the walk on the Cornwallis beach...., black sand, fresh air and wanderful sceneries. Children can play in the beach.... We had a good Labour weekend at this place.

Went on the Jubilee Walk, and a dip when we got down to Cornwallis Beach. Cool place to take the family when you're feeling like an easy bush stroll, secluded patch for a swim and a picnic is what you need. Good bathroom and BBQ facilities too.

Fond memories of my past. Stopped at the beach first and can either walk down along to the wharf or back up to the road and drive 100 metres or so. The wharf was my best memories of pitch black fishing and then dropping the lanterns down low to the water to attract the white bait.
