Herne Bay Beach

Tourist attraction β€’ Park

😠 THIS IS A PUBLIC BEACH. Auckland Council has completely dropped the ball. It is covered in private structures & warning signs & cameras from houses that have been allowed to illegally build all over public spaces & intimidate the public. It is like arpartheid South Africa. VILE!!! People often mention beach, public, tide,

As you drive through a road surrounded on either side by inflated mansions, you search for the tiny entry that leads you down to the beach, treading carefully not to disturb the peace in the neighbourhood or to enter in the wrong entrance. Once you reach the beach via the reserve, via an array winding steps, you see a pretty shabby inner city beach, with the locale foliage covered in plastic from previous picnics. Looking out to the horizon you can see more beach mansions over looking the inner city waters, searching for some sunlight to make their Instagram photos look that more appealing.

There are a number of small beaches to be explored here, 9 to be exact. If You like secluded beaches and a walking, this is the place for you.

This place is private and lovely to visit. There is not much space but if you want a quiet place to chilled out with your kids or go for a walk around. This is safe to do this kind of activity. You may need to park off the road. There are public toilets here. One bench but plenty of tree shading if you wanna sit on the mat.

Perfect spot for an inner city swim. Make sure you visit close to high tide, and especially if it is in a weekend afternoon on a hot day it will be packed with beach goers...

The view of the sunset is gorgeous down here! Thankfully there are public toilets as well. It's not too crowded usually at dusk, and has a great view of everything that usually overlooks the Harbour. It's nothing spectacular, but hey it's nice to know there's a beach close to ponsonby πŸ˜ŠπŸ–οΈ

Fantastic inner city beach with great views of the north shore amd harbour bridge. Small beach and popular amongst locals. Make sure you visit on a mid to high tide.

I used to always go to this beach because it's only a 3 minute walk from my house, but too many sketchy people started visiting this place. It used to be a place where I go for walks and to have peace, but now it feels unsafe to do so. Some people don't have class and have no respect for public areas

A perfect beach for kids. Enough off road car parking spaces near the beach. There are public toilets in the beach. Very calm and quiet place and less crowded mostly. Perfect place for a picnic or family get together.

I don't know why this place is popular. I guess it's because is close to the city. Many nice hot ties here (girls and guys) but there are many more, better beaches in Auckland (Kohi, Point Chev). Make sure to he there when the tide is in, otherwise you end up in a mud bath and walk on sharp rocks.
