St. Benedict's Church is a Catholic church located in the Newton area of Auckland, New Zealand. It is a beautiful and historic building that has been serving the community since the late 1800s. The church was named after St. Benedict, a Catholic saint who founded the Benedictine order of monks. The church is built in the Gothic Revival style, with beautiful stained glass windows and intricate stonework. It has a seating capacity of around 500 people, making it one of the larger churches in the area. The church has undergone several renovations and expansions over the years, but it still retains much of its original charm and character. St. Benedict's Church is a hub of religious and community activities. It hosts regular masses and services, as well as special events like weddings, baptisms, and funerals. The church also has a range of community programs and outreach initiatives, including youth groups, charity drives, and support for the homeless and marginalized. The church's parish is made up of a diverse and vibrant community of Catholics from all walks of life. It is a welcoming and inclusive place where people can come together to worship, socialize, and support one another. The church's friendly and dedicated staff and volunteers are always on hand to provide guidance and assistance to those in need. Overall, St. Benedict's Church is a beautiful and important part of the Newton community. It is a place of worship, fellowship, and service that has been bringing people together for over a century.

Stunning and spacious venue (we hired The Crypt) with brick walls, lots of space, tables and chairs, a huge kitchen and easy access bathrooms. Finding the entrance was the hardest part as it's not actually on St Benedicts Street (you have to go past the road to your left, then turn left further along the block, turning in between a white wall and red building).

Not a very crowded church and has a lovely choir. Weekend masses are at 6pm on Saturday and 9:30am on Sunday, while weekday masses are at 12:10pm Wednesday to Friday. They also have ethnic masses in Spanish, Tongan and Indonesia with timings on there website. Would recommend wearing a jacket in the evenings as it gets a bit chilly. There is also a lot of off-street parking available if you wanted to drop by.
