Beautiful scenic area, just be aware it is a hotspot for men to meet for adult fun times... so bear that in mind if you have children with you. Enjoyed it. Short walks into nature away from the busy streets (still hear cars though but not distracting) The tall totara, matai, Nikau and many more native trees that over hang like guardians of the forest are beautiful and surely humble you. The sweet fresh air and sounds of native birds. Definitely worth a walk, just to break away from the hustle and bustle.

Bush walks are great on a sunny day, track needs a little more maintenance, lots of broken brunches and paths need a little tidy up but safe enough to walk

Small walkabout area. In spring and summer you will see native birds... Some very special ones such as the Kereru. additionally, and summer there are lots of parrots which maybe come from across the ditch. it's a very lovely place to have a quick walk around. I usually take my dog there. You will see lots of wild rabbits, lose chickens, and the odd pest such as possums. This bushwalk area unfortunately has a little bit of a dark side to it where men gather to do some dodgy stuff at times. So it's always best to be cautious and walk with someone else as well.

This is an outstanding remnant of native forest in the middle of the city. Yes, it is ringed by busy roads and dense housing development, and directly in the flight path of landing planes for the AKL. But it is full of large mature kahikatea, rimu, totara and puriri. Its understory is lush with Nikau, tree ferns and countless climbing ferns and palms. You will also see rewarewa, matai and taraire. We saw many native birds such as kereru, tui and fantails. I wish the city would upkeep the tracks and clean up the trash more consistently because this is a jewel for future generations.

Really cool forest full of ferns. No trails where I entered and a little swampy in some locations but very doable. A cyclone went through the week before so maybe that had an effect. I noticed a post below about creepy old men doing dodgy stuff. I also noticed a couple of creepy guys in there looking suspicious almost like they were checking on their victims.

The flora and fauna is well maintained. Some of the trees were very very old and had interesting compositions.also there was seating dotted thro out.all the paths were clearly labeled.
