My friends and I go to grand central on most nights out and have always loved it! Unfortunately last night the band playing displayed some unusually disgusting behaviour, making sexist and rude comments about the audience. It was hugely inappropriate and really disappointing to see the bouncers defend their behaviour. Not the first time we’ve seen the band be disgusting, hope GC can find some more respectful artists for their patrons to enjoy, a real shame as they are goor musicians but with that kind of behaviour, no wonder the male to female ratio at GC is about 1000:1

Had the worst bar tender just was so Angry at everyone she was serving and I was told by another bar tender they didn't get on with Chloe and then when we left the bouncer Said the same thing... such a horrible experience!

Normally stop by here after dinner when in the Ponsonby area for a late night drink. It doesn't look very large but there are multiple seating options from the couches up front to the small tables on the side in the alley to the small room at the back of the bar. What's also quite nice is that they tend to have live music. Nice atmosphere but it can get quite loud since it is small.

Can’t complain. I wasn’t there for particularly long, but it’s nice to have a decent outside area where you can actually talk to the people you are with, without having to shout at each other. And of course if that’s your jam, just head on inside. Drinks were good, staff seemed friendly, and in control. Great atmosphere, and the music was live - surprising for a small place.

The finest establishment in Auckland. Always great live music and the staff are bloody brilliant. Nowhere better for a beer and boogie on the weekend.

Apparently liquor laws doesn't apply here if you know the bar staff and managers. yet your night might get ruined there if you don't, because you look too tired for a drink. Very unprofessional.

The local gang members (King Cobras) hang out at this bar. A place to avoid

A bit dive-y but that's it's own special lure. TONS of comfortable space inside, back, and outside. Great chill music. Overall, whether you're here to chat about records or let off steam from your work day, it's a pretty cool place.

Fun pub with live music in a convivial indoor and outdoor setting. Staff is friendly and helpful. Crowd was a healthy mix of locals and travelers.

The music is playback but they do have some nice bonfire type sing along songs We got kicked out for getting occused or trying to climb out of the window which i understand but I would have liked to get the bottle of champagne that I paid for I don’t think that they have the right to take away what we paid for.

Been a fan of this place for years the music on most nights is great hidden gem is upstairs to the right of the toilets along with 3 other cool spaces to share a beer with your mates never once have I seen any drama door staff do a great job. Safe place to get a glow on

This place has live music Monday to Thursday night. If you want to find a place that is not empty on a Tuesday night (or any night), this is the place. It's known for its late nights. It's a recipe that has allowed the GC to keep killing it for 12 years. But for me 2 for 1 drinks from Mon to Fri 4-7 is what keeps me coming back especially when a pint in Ponsonby venues can cost $12 each. At the GC, 4 pints for $20. Yes yes 👍

We are from the UK but our 2 children live in Auckland. We always love going to Grand Central but on the 3 visits we have made this time we have been charged 3 different prices for the same wine. Sometimes 10 dollars a glass, sometimes 12 and sometimes 16. It makes us feel a little ripped off, maybe as we are not locals but we are not certain we will return.

A place that is one of the last vestiges of live music in a Auckland and has been so for as long as I remember. Its important and Auckland needs more places like this. Grand Central rocks!

Great live music and the staff are uber cool

It used to be a place my Malaysian friend took me to to play for the open mic night on Monday and i didn't really like the kind of music played here, but i end up being here with my mates and am listening to some of the same songs again. My friend's gone now but I'm still here, it's just comfortable for the welcoming atmosphere for musicians

Nice interior and helpful staff. They'll make your cocktail based on what tastes you like so it helps to have an idea what that is!

For late night cheeky drinks. You can't go wrong with grand central. A classic spot for a ponsonby Rd night out.

It's a bar. Kinda small. Live music was good. Saw that dude from that taika vampire movie there

Had a birthday function tonight, Stephen behind the bar was the host with the most for us. Could not have had a better night. Cheers

Nice bar with a nice vibe and ambience. Pretty small a place but still not bad. Drinks and prices are okay considering the location. There could be more events organised to promote customer engagement and promotion in my opinion.

Best bar in ponsonby maybe the world? They make a fantastic pineapple vodka
