Saved my life, thank you. I couldn't imagine the stress you nurses go through, the stories you hear and how desensitizing all of that can be. I was admitted late February and felt most comfortable in the Emergency Unit room. Some nurses would stop by and have a quick word with me to cheer me up. It makes a difference. There was a blonde nurse in that unit, I can't remember her name.. But she really helped calm me down and reassured me that everything would be okay. I spent a whole week and a bit there. The photo I attached was me pointing at the room I was in and being grateful I got out. You're all doing god's work, thank you again. I appreciate life a lot more.

There are some great staff who are unfortunately let down by appalling staff. Definitely treat people as a number and use age as an indicator as to whether to treat patients passively or reactively. We struck a dismissive doctor by the name of Patel who was a complete and utter waste of our valuable time.

I understand that these nurses are under paid & over worked I get that. But being heard & made to feel like you’re cared for is important because who would want to come here and sit here for 8 hours plus to be seen by a doctor. You are met with answers but that’s to just shut you up. I’ve been here twice seeking medical attention but I left the first time cause the charge nurse wasn’t paying attention and had an attitude. The other nurse sent me to White Cross which I’m glad they did cause I was seen right away and sent back to be seen by a doctor for server dehydration. I’ve asked for medication and they have said that this isn’t an emergency lol. Kinda feel like you have to be knocking on heavens door to get help. I’m still sitting here patiently waiting for help going on 4 hours 🫠

My friend was born here and I would like to refund her. Unfortunately there is no policy for refunding people. For this reason I would not recommend that you give birth to your baby here just in case you want to refund them later on.

From the moment I entered Waitakere Hospital, every staff member was helpful, professional and caring. Dr. Lily Yang Wu and those who assisted her - Bianca (and I'm sorry I've forgotten the names of the others) couldn't have been more helpful, respectful and caring. I understand the enormous strain our hospital staff have endured for so long but none of them allowed that to affect their care of myself and the other patients I saw. Grateful thanks.

The Waitakere birth unit was incredible. The on site midwives and doctors were so present, knowledgeable, attentive and reassuring. Making our birth experience as good as it could be. The rooms had everything available which we needed.

Went to Waitakere Hospital because the health line nurse had recommended I go. I was experiencing racing heart, cold body, Blackouts, Blurred vision and breathing issues and a few other things. All apparent signs of anaemia (I had already done a test a few weeks beforehand and my iron levels were low then as well). Go to the Waitakere hospital let them know why I was there and honestly I felt as if they were disappointed I was there. A nurse came in and asked “Why are you here?” I explained and her stare was so mean.. I didn’t explain properly so she asked again “No, no why did you come here?” I explained properly this time. The nurse told me to “Calm down, Just don’t move” when I was following her instructions that required me to move around and would talk under her breath “Yes, yes, yes” or she would just ignore me every time I tried to talk to her. And would give me major side eye which made me feel so uncomfortable and she literally told me to look the other way while she attached the ecg. I had a mask on already and had passed my Covid test when first entering so I felt like a literal germ being there. The nurse asked me “Is he ok being here?” I said yes (he’s my friend).. However, I didn’t realise she was going to pull my gown up and reveal my body. That happened so fast I couldn’t ask what she was doing with that machine first. I work in healthcare as well as a Physio assistant in a retirement village.. I know it’s not half of what our nurses at hospitals go through but I know the way I was treated isn’t right and wouldn’t want it for anyone else. If it was something I done while I was there I’m truly sorry!

Delivered my first child here and the service was rather slow and uneducated, nurses were standing around doing nothing acting like they can't hear the poor mothers fighting through labour 👎🏼 Overnight service was appalling! Asked to have a nurse to check out blood clots I was passing and literally didn't get any service for 11-12hours EXACTLY! Would recommend going elsewhere unless their standards improve.

WARNING 0 STAR RATING PLEASE READ!!! Thinking of giving birth at Waitākere think again!! Waitakere birthing unit & midwife’s are just a big no!!! My sister had her baby daughter there, the labour team was absolutely fantastic. The whole time after she gave birth they were so rude, not polite, talking stuff behind her back, they don’t care about anyone’s situation. They Didn’t take in on how it would affect her & her new born. She waited nearly 2 and a half hours for a bottle for her newborn when she asked them serve times for one.

I literally died here on my second visit nurses are always cool, 1st time ever the doctor was competent and friendly and I didn't require a nappy as nobody tried to test drugs on me. Good place to be if you attempt to eat the food

How low can people get - my 97 yr old mother is in Waitakere Hospital and someone stole her flowers that I sent her and her potplant her neighbour gave her. Mysteriously no one of the staff knows anything so obviously one of them is light fingered. I have complained but no one responds so I complained again. I will find the person responsible and they can reimburse me for the nice bunch of flowers they have now received. Great work Waitakere Hospital Anawhata Ward

16 years ago I gave birth to my daughter here. I ended up having a c section. The surgical team did an excellent job. However the maternity ward nurses were rude and the my experience at the ward was like what the hell.. I went through other people’s review recently and it seems like the situation has not been improved much. I would not recommend people I know to give birth there. I suggest DHB to conduct a service quality review. If there is no capability to operate a maternity ward then it should be closed. It gives a mother nightmares!

Took my daughter to emergency at Waitakere hospital today. Fantastic experience - saw nurse Jessie and Dr. Natalie both were compassionate & caring. In fact everyone we met including the nurse out front & reception were great. Got to be the cleanest best organised emergency dept I've been to. Thanks Waitakere - we are so grateful for your help

Had a wonderful experience with doctor and nurses. Had a broken toe and was treated there. Helpful and understanding, kudos to the warm and inviting people who work there. My doctor was the best, he has a great sense of humour and I couldn’t feel the pain when he was fixing the displaced toe back in place!

Our family visited Crystal Mountain- 80 Candia Road, Swanson, Auckland 0614 on 04/02/2023 by 11.10am. My mom faced an accident by 12.00pm. We took her into the hospital with a an expected head injury. The staff was really good, helpful and did a massive job. They were kind, took care of my mom and very helpful. Many Sonias there and I just remembered only that name as I was not in a good mood. I would like to appreciate the staff who could finish all the tests by 2.00pm. The lady doctor was so kind and lovely. Love the way they respect us understand and care us . Thank you.

I came here 2 weeks ago after a nasty fall. Nurse in charge (Dianne) seemed to have a hunch straight away as to the type of injury that had occurred. After X-rays confirmed the damage, I was put in a cast for transportation to North Shore for an operation. Excellent care from nurses.

If I can rate it with a 0 I would, I absolutely hate this hospital and it's stuff, the nurses and their attitudes are unbelievable, I've been sick from the flu for quite sometimes and the reason why I don't go here is because they just make you wait in the front then the nurses just take you at the back and make you wait there again. I was having chills and fever and I've been there for 2 hours so I rang the bell and asked for something to calm my fever down, she said no because I just recently had panadol and I told her I had panadol at home at 12 noon this is 9pm here at the hospital and I'm not feeling OK and I have headaches chills and fever and body aches. I just hope people going here can consider some other places but then again this emergency for our district juts disgusting . The doctor came with the same nasty attitude aswell looks at me can't really walk and still sends me home.

I had a Mirena operation yesterday, everything was good with very good quality, thank you Doctors, thank you nurses, except the Anesthetist, I had black spot on the top of my hand, incorrect position for the Anesthetiser to use ! What he was thinking at that time . I had a terrible pain not from the surgery but from the black spot on my hand.

Easy to find. Plenty of parking. Attending for an outpatient clinic is made easier because the letter gives entry guidance and directions. The reminder txt ensures I don't miss my appointment. On this occasion I was met by two on-to-it ENT/ORL team members. Pleasant, professional - and very capable listeners. (A problem encountered with other team members at this facility - some even forget to ask questions, much less, listen to the response).

My wife got injured her finger and went to emergency on Sunday evening. People who work there keep us Waiting until midnight (8hours) and finally registered nurse call us and her name is Lisa, very rude and angry person, she try to operate her finger without num it, my wife was in really pain and that nurses didn’t listen to us and she said they couldn’t num. and she said she couldn’t do anything then send us home. Next morning we went north shore hospital and they operated the finger. I am so disappointed about Waitakere hospital emergency staff and I never ever go there for any treatments

0 stars... I've been in this hospital since I gave birth of my first baby, which I almost died by negligence... Then emergency visits for gallbladders and they didn't made a blood test to know what was causing my pain attacks, now, 2 weeks sick with strong pains on top of my liver, very similar pain to the gallbladder, bruising on my legs coming from nothing, diarrhea, high Ferritin... Dr. Told me my blood test was " normal " he was very very inhumane and unkind!!! Don't go EVER with "DR". YE YU 🤮🤮🤮🤮 worst experience of my life with a doctor, so rude telling me why I went there even that my GP sent me to the hospital, he told me "for people like you emergency doesn't work" so rude... I couldn't handle and I left, been having a really bad 2 weeks to be treated like he did with me... NZ HEALTHCARE NEED A CHANGE IN HOW THEY TREAT PEOPLE!

Very bad experience I had here today. The women nurse (in her 40s/50s) at the reception in the emergency department around 2.30- 3.30pm today was so rude and she look like she don’t do not want to be there!! My daughter is in pain and all the nurse can say is that “you should give give her Panadol”. With due respect i have done whatever I can including giving her Panadol but she is still in pain and she is just 2 years old! How can you hire a nurse that is so inconsiderate and so rude towards a patient. Her character should be review by the hospital to be honest. Really disappointed with what I experience today

Waitakere is a bit of a mixed bag, I have had to be there for three emergencies in the past three weeks, there are some very caring nursing staff but there is also so much frustration as we were often told nothing and left hanging waiting for help where medical staff were promised but never turned up. The common denominator is that the staff are run off their feet. and another peeve is how you have to pay when you need to park, its just so wrong on so many levels.

Worst medical experience ever!!! Took our daughter there who was in need of urgent medical attention for her asthma... we were shoved into a room for hours on end with an inhaler. Only when we went to ask, ask and ask... were we finally spoken to, but to be told ‘we’re not comfortable to give her medication, we don’t agree with what your GP gave her and whilst other hospitals may agree with it, we don’t. Our medical system is the most inconsistent system run by incompetent idiots. NZ Govt... wake up and smell the flowers, people are in desperate need of your help, do something and get some professional ‘local’ staff who speak proper English!!!

So i am sitting in the hospital and crying. I had my second baby yesterday via c-section. It was planned. Hospital staff was good. But after my operation my all happiness of my baby gone. And became the nightmare. I had a lot of pain in my stitches but no one in the hospital care about it. Everyone was rude, they keep pushing me to walk very next day which i know is good. But every person is different there body is different. There was a midwife 'KATE' the most rudest person i ever met in my life. I was crying in pain in front of her and no mercy. I am disappointed, distress. Hospitals are meant to take care of there patients with love and sympathy. Our tax money goes waste on these people because they are just opposite. I will not stop here and will compaint on senior level. Please whoever reading it stand up and do something about our deteriorating health system.

I had to go to Emergency at Waitakere today and just wanted to say that all the staff I dealt with were friendly and efficient. I was there for about 3 1/2 hours and had initial consult, xrays, fitted with moonboot, and sent home with prescriptions plus followup plan. TBH, I had read some of the google reviews before going so was not expecting a good experience but was proved wrong. Also while I was in various waiting areas, I noticed nothing but kindness from the staff towards the patients. I hope I never have to go to Emergency again, but if I do, I'll be going straight to Waitakere Hosp.

My daughter had meningitis there was something wrong with her mothers know when something is wrong but of course i am a young mum they judge me. So my daughter had thesr dots they tried to send me phone becausr the doctor and pediatric say "its probably this just keep her fluids up and give her something to eat shes having milk now so shes fine im happy for yous to go home they would not listen to me mydaughter then started fluring up with more dots she got ignored still!! I said no i am not leaving till you find out whats wrong with her! Im not going to be ignored something is wrong with my daughter! They had 2 pediatrics come see me and still send me home saying they have to much patients lol. Then my daughter got unconcious and started shaking not responding to me they done CPR on her!! They still tried to send me home saying it just her airways blocked!! Till ONE PEDIATRIC SAID lets get a meningitis test i said please yes test her there is something wrong with my baby, one doctor agreed because my daughter had the fit and what do you know! She had meningtis A, menengoccocl, and sepsis!! We were in hospital for 7days and we left because the doctors said that she looks fine but there is 10% left in her top spinal which may affect her hearing!!! they didnt want to get rid of 100% So we then got tested for her ears and we have had to have more hearing tests and her hearing is fine and now she is getting dots under her eyes? I was born here and I’m still alive and healthy except for the fact that I have trichotillomania but they are grapeat over all.

Neck and Facial injuries including broken nose. It was quiet on a Monday night, 5 hours before being seen by a doctor , no pain relief given till after doctor and X-rays. Staff were friendly.

The staff are great. Had my xrays. It was so efficient that my parking was FREE. How's that for timing

Aweful Sister had been sick for 3 days, with nausea, black spots in vision and migraine. Arrived at 11:30am got told 5:30hr wait for doctor. Wasn’t seen for 7hrs. Was offered only offered Panadol and ibuprofen which doesn’t help my sister. Only in the 6th hour was she offered codine, vomited it up afterward (3rd vomited since she got there) was still ignored. Once finally seen, she told the doctor what was wrong, had to repeat to the doctor 3 times of everything. Blood test were taken and then she was set up on fluids. She was not dehydrated, and the doctor did not tell us anything on what they could do (TOTAL LACK OF COMMUNICATION) was at hospital for over 10hrs in total with no resolution in how to help. When I asked, on what could happen, they said they would be right back, but didn’t return. Never have I experienced a situation where a patient has felt so unheard by doctors. Didn’t seem like they cared. Only person that did seem too was a nurse at reception who offered the codine.
