This is a great little beach right on the doorstep of our beautiful village of Howick, with all it's great cafes and restaurants all around the area plus in the village itself. The beach is great for swimming on and around the full tide, and absolutely stunning in and around December when all the Pohutakawa trees are in full bloom and all there glory. Plus there are two stunning walks from each end, too Mellons Bay heading North and Cockle Bay heading South at low tide, just wear good footwear and be aware of wet slippery clay and stones, but really enjoy the cliffs with their differing layers of rock, sand, clay and greywacke soft type stone and the sea erosion formations, beautiful and interesting.

A small but a beautiful beach. You can enjoy both at low and high tide. At high tide enjoy playing in water and in low tide take a walk along the beach. There is sailing club as well. The beach also has public toilet and changing rooms for male and female

Nice little beach tucked away in the popular suburban area of Howick. The beach is one of the safer beaches since there is low danger of high tides etc. The access is easy by road and ample parking is available in the vicinity too. Sunrises are very beautiful here since it is an east facing beach. Ideal for a day out with family. Well recommended.

Unfortunately a low tide when we visited. Saw one bench for seating and narrow grass area for a picnic.

Great place to go watch the sun go down or just chill and get away from bright city lights and have a touch of nature instead, not sure what the swimming is like but there is a boat ramp and boat club.

This beach is so clean and beautiful. I have been to many beaches in NZ but this one particularly caught my attention because of its isolated location and calm soothing atmosphere. There is a small garden in front of this beach. If you have jetski then this is best spot you can get in NZ. If you want to simply read a book or do meditation or just hang out with friends this is the perfect option.

Quite a small beach area, a few people walking their dogs & collecting shells at low tide.

Really nice local beach with a lava flow base for footing deep into the water. Small beach, however, with loads of birds mulling around. Not sure I'd go out of my way to hang out at the beach here, but it's so convenient if you're in the area.

Such a lovely location... Safe beach for children and to walk the dog, amenities available. Grassy area if you don't want to picnic on the sand

This is a nice beach, especially good because in high tide it remains quite shallow, great kyaking when the water is calm.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Beautiful walk alonf the Halfmoon Bay Marina all the way to little Buckland's Beach. The boardwalk was really nice as it goes along the water. Lots of space to walk or bike. It does get a bit tight in some places though. A really nice place to take a walk with nice views over the water.
