Words, (nor the endless amounts of pictures and videos), can describe New Zealand's beauty that's seen everywhere. You have to see the nature with your own eyes, hear the endless calls from the multitude of birds that call these islands home with your own ears, and smell the fresh, crisp air with your own nose, in order to truly and completely enjoy everything New Zealand has to offer.

Such a beautiful place! The lion rock is stunning and you can even hike up a little to get a better view. There a lots of surfers out there and lots of different spots to chill and relax. Definitely worth the drive! Just 40mins from Auckland.

What a beautiful place! I can’t recall being on a black sand beach before (I’ve been told I have though!) but nevertheless I love the black sand. The pic I uploaded doesn’t do it justice. It sparkles in the sun. We didn’t get into the water but walked everywhere coz it’s quite a large coastline. If you’re claiming the rock (think it’s called lion rock) wear shoes coz it’s easier. The sand can become very hot too. The toilets were very clean There’s plenty of things to do for a family. A must in Auckland

This hidden gem is beautiful. This beach is well worth the 1hr winding mountain road.

Piha beach is divided into 2 parts - North and South. Both the beaches are absolutely stunning. Enjoyed the journey just as much as the destination, The road is quite curvy with some sharp turns. It is a 40mins drive from Auckland city. It has a serene environment with a breathtaking view if it's cloudy or if it rains. It has black sand and the beaches are very clean. The waves are very rough so avoid swimming and surfing as lifeguards are also not around in north beach. Carrying food and water is mandatory as we don't have cafes and shops nearby. Limited parking and public transport is not available. There are washrooms at the corner of the road which goes towards the north beach. I highly recommend this beach if you are a tourist or traveller.

Great beach and surf. Just ensure you swim where the lifeguards are.

A stunningly photographic location. Wild west coast waves, hot black sands, views to the horizon. The Cafe is brilliant too.

Black sandy beach is different, around a 40 minute drive from the north shore. Surf life savers on site to help if required as the beach has dangerous rips and under currents. Walking tracks available if you want to do additional activities or just play down and enjoy the scene.

What an amazing place to go in Summer. Make sure you go on a sunny day if you love photography. otherwise you will miss that beautiful blue sky over the beach. Yes as everyone says, Waves & Current are strong & unpredictable here, but as long as you swim between the patrol lifeguard flags you don't need to worry. There is a life guard always on duty. Must Go and Must Swim Beach. Recommend for everyone.

Amazing place, scenery is spectacular. shame the fish and chip shop has burnt down. The piha cafe is good but a bit pricey.

Go there all the time a really fun surf beach with incredible look outs and places to explore and is also very unique with lion rock . Would reccomend for everyone, all though some times the surf is a bit rough for little kids.

Pay attention to me, and I will share more information about New Zealand. 📍 Piha Beach Recommended adventure rating 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗 Convenient parking rating 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑 Willingness to revisit rating 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑 With recent rainy weather in Auckland, we took advantage of a rare sunny day to visit Piha Beach! Due to the heavy storms earlier this year, the road to Piha was closed for a while, but it's now open. However, some areas still have one-way traffic, so be mindful of that! We discovered that Piha is divided into North Piha and South Piha. Today, we entered from South Piha, where parking spaces were somewhat limited, and many people were out surfing! The black sand beach is incredibly smooth, and walking barefoot on it feels very comfortable! The expansive ocean views and magnificent rock formations are truly stunning!

👍👍 Lovelly place for a family picnic, a good walk or paddleboard when the tide is up. Easy access from West Auckland. Good facilities - bathroom, shower, water fountain and two carparks - but be aware the carparka can fill in quite kickly on a sunny day.

👍👍 It's a lovely little beach with a big grassy area for picnics and a playground for kids. When it's low tide, you can walk quite far, but it is a bit muddy in places, so do be careful. There are good, clean toilets
