Ormiston Hospital

Private hospital

😠 Was at Ormiston Hospital to support my partner before surgery on 29June2022 at 10am. Nurse before operation threat was rude enough to throw things gowns, socks etc on me without even talking to me. When questioned she didn’t even bother to apologise. In wonder what they do with vulnerable patients… People often mention surgery, staff, Ormiston, hospital, Hospital, care, team, nurses, nurse, service,

A great choice out in East Auckland. The staff provided all the required information prior to the day, so we had the required information. Plenty of free parking outside, with a 5 min drop off/pick-up area too. Reception is on Level 3 via the elevator and they had a cafe and pharmacy on Level 1, which is handy, as you can pick up your medications also. Staff are really friendly and look after you

I went to Middlemore diagnosed with accute appendicits in February. I was in hospital for 4-5 days and they said that they were waiting to see if my appendix ruptured before taking me in to surgery. It didn't, but I was unable to eat for about 4-5 weeks after and was able to get an appointment with a specialist in Ponsonby. I had a double mastectomy in November and an emergency surgery due to this on Christmas Eve. The surgeon in Ponsonby told me to leave well enough alone, and to revisit him with it in 12months time - knowing that I had been unable to hold anything down. A friend of mine had recent surgery with Dr. Habib Rahman at Ormiston, and suggested I speak with him. He reviewed my scans and suggested that I have surgery as soon as possible to prevent sepsis in the event that my appendix ruptured. He found a malignant tumour in my appendix when he took it out. Had I not consulted him and my appendix did in fact rupture, the cancer would have metasticised throughout my entire body - after endoring breast cancer/non-nipple sparing bilateral mastectomy four months previously. I then had part of my bowel and lower intestine removed - preventative measures. That surgery was a lot harder than the double mastectomy. I cannot speak highly enough about the quality of care that the physicians and staff here have, if it weren't for his thoroughness I would likely have been gone now. The hospital team were equally amazing. Words cannot express my gratitude for Dr. Rahman and the team at Orminston for taking such good care of me. I would highly recommend them without hesitation. Thank you.

Outpatient at the Ormiston. Surgeon Andrew Hill and his team were excellent and very knowledgeable. Friendly staff. Take something warm to put on as it can be a little chilly after waking up from anesthesia.

The staff are wonderful. From reception to nurses, doctors and surgeons. Far better than any other hospital in Auckland. The facilities, rooms and service is top notch. I felt taken care of from start to finish. The only issue people might find difficult is parking but people come and go so often you'll slip in somewhere like we did. Also parking is FREE. Thank you.

I was referred to Ormiston Hospital by the specialist at Middlemore Hospital and had my Gall Bladder removed at Ormiston Hospital. I have no complaints, the staff were fantastic and the food was good too. Was also close to where friends stay so I even had unexpected visitors.

Reception is on level 3. Lovely team of people that i encountered right through my procedure from reception to dispatch. Def better than mainstream hospital for me. A lot more calming and personal rather than a rat race. Especially when you're nervous enough, from previous hospital experiences. Its almost like the older days where they care, listen and can advise. Im grateful for the team their, i thank you and those kind natured souls who take on those roles to look after us.

Had an elective surgery here and all the staff were incredible. The facility was nice, homely, clean and the staff were next level kind. Never felt like I was a burden and I felt super comfortable the whole time. I’d highly recommend Ormiston hospital.

Such an awesome experience. Just had my ACL and meniscus surgery on the 7th from Dr Nick Gormack. Everyone was really professional and friendly. They really takecare of their patients.Even the nurse who provided food was really caring and kept checking on me if I wanted something to eat and drink. Julia who was there when I woke up from my surgery was really professional. Helped me heaps when I started hyperventilating. She cared for me alot and helped me regain my consciousness. Special thanks to Denise and Ian who looked after me soo well. The physio Wendy for helping me through walking exercises. It was a lovely experience staying there. It was clean and the cooked food was really good just like what you'd order from a nice restaurant/Cafe. Thank you so much Denise and Ian. You both have been really lovely and caring towards me. I would happily choose this hospital again if I had any surgery in future. Thank you Ormiston Hospital. All your staffs were professional and kind.

02/11/22 I had a small surgery, and from the first minute in the hospital to the end, I felt the care and attention of the staff. I want to say thank you for the professionalism and excellent job to Dr. Andre Bourgeois and all the nurses. And a special big thanks to the wonderful Dr. Paul Baker.

I can't rate this hospital high enough as it was beyond and above all my expectations. The care, the staff, the cleanliness, the food ....everything was 100%. Thank you, Ormiston!

5 stars ain’t enough for this place. Had surgery here years ago and a recent one 2 months ago for my mum. Their staff is what makes this place different from others plus their facilities and cleanliness are top notch. Staff always attentive, accommodating, and takes care of you the moment you walk in that door until the day you’re released. Amazing!

I am writing to express my disappointment with the service provided by the head nurse at Ormiston Hospital. My experience with her was less than satisfactory, specifically in relation to my request for additional nasal bolsters. On the first occasion, I asked for more bolsters as my son was experiencing persistent bleeding from his nose. Unfortunately, the response was inadequate, and only a few were provided. Despite the ongoing issue, when I returned the next day, the head nurse outright refused to give me the necessary number of bolsters. After insisting, her demeanor was notably displeased, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere. To make matters worse, I was charged an exorbitant amount of $331.20 for 30 nasal bolsters, which, in my estimation, would cost significantly less. This pricing seems unreasonable, and I intend to bring this matter to the attention of the hospital's management. I am curious to see how they will respond to such subpar service and unjustified charges

To all who were part of my knee operation yesterday, the team I had were fantastic. My check in nurse was so kind, then my anethetist Elitza put all my worries or fears to rest. She was brilliant. Then I had Vinnie who walked me to surgery a real gem thankyou. I felt well looked after and everything went perfectly. My surgeon was great also.

First time to this place for a CT scan as the hospital I normally get them done at were overbooked apparently. A very bad experience for me, as the nurse could not get it right with finding my vein. And I was not told by them to wait at least 15 minutes to be sure that I was going to be okay before I left as this was always done by the nurses at the hospital I normally go to.

Ormiston Hopsital service was next level, they were very thorough, triple checked everything right from the beginning and even after everything happened like clockwork, no waiting hours for updates, things just happened. Operation in the morning and was good to go by late afternoon Thanks to the team at Ormiston Hospital for your support

Hands down the best hospital experience I've had in my life. The staff were amazing from reception to recovery. Everyone is so friendly and calming. The communication, from a few days prior to operation all the way through to post op, was also second to none in my opinion. Given the choice, I would come back to Ormiston without a doubt. Thank you so much to everyone involved in my procedure!

What an experience first up over 90 mins delay, nurse not trained couldn’t find my vein and kept stubbing me until my blood pressure went low and had to stop gastroscopy procedure went well on the day however 3 days laters ended up with high fever chills body pains and blood in stool called the hospital was told to call the gp what an awesome aftercare system. Rather die than go to Ormiston hospital even middlemore treat their patients better.

So glad I had my surgery here. The staff were amazing. Nurses went above and beyond to make me comfortable (thanks Jose and Rita). I loved the art around the ward too. If it wasn’t for the surgery, it could have been a nice 2 day getaway ;)

Requested pricing and what was included with this re surgery and was denied. I was told to book a time with the surgeon twice at $300. This is the only centre without an information pack to help decide what is the best place for me. Doesn't give me any confidence what there will not be hidden costs as no one is willing to disclose these. Poor.
