I
went
to
Middlemore
diagnosed
with
accute
appendicits
in
February.
I
was
in
hospital
for
4-5
days
and
they
said
that
they
were
waiting
to
see
if
my
appendix
ruptured
before
taking
me
in
to
surgery.
It
didn't,
but
I
was
unable
to
eat
for
about
4-5
weeks
after
and
was
able
to
get
an
appointment
with
a
specialist
in
Ponsonby.
I
had
a
double
mastectomy
in
November
and
an
emergency
surgery
due
to
this
on
Christmas
Eve.
The
surgeon
in
Ponsonby
told
me
to
leave
well
enough
alone,
and
to
revisit
him
with
it
in
12months
time
-
knowing
that
I
had
been
unable
to
hold
anything
down.
A
friend
of
mine
had
recent
surgery
with
Dr.
Habib
Rahman
at
Ormiston,
and
suggested
I
speak
with
him.
He
reviewed
my
scans
and
suggested
that
I
have
surgery
as
soon
as
possible
to
prevent
sepsis
in
the
event
that
my
appendix
ruptured.
He
found
a
malignant
tumour
in
my
appendix
when
he
took
it
out.
Had
I
not
consulted
him
and
my
appendix
did
in
fact
rupture,
the
cancer
would
have
metasticised
throughout
my
entire
body
-
after
endoring
breast
cancer/non-nipple
sparing
bilateral
mastectomy
four
months
previously.
I
then
had
part
of
my
bowel
and
lower
intestine
removed
-
preventative
measures.
That
surgery
was
a
lot
harder
than
the
double
mastectomy.
I
cannot
speak
highly
enough
about
the
quality
of
care
that
the
physicians
and
staff
here
have,
if
it
weren't
for
his
thoroughness
I
would
likely
have
been
gone
now.
The
hospital
team
were
equally
amazing.
Words
cannot
express
my
gratitude
for
Dr.
Rahman
and
the
team
at
Orminston
for
taking
such
good
care
of
me.
I
would
highly
recommend
them
without
hesitation.
Thank
you.
