I
hope
that
I
am
posting
this
on
the
right
place/regarding
the
right
company.
The
service
provide
company
name
is
"All
About
Tours."
So,
two
days
ago
I
signed
up
for
a
"Free
Walking
Tour"
of
downtown
Auckland
for
10:00
this
morning.
I
received
a
confirmation
email,
etc.
saying
I
was
all
set
to
go.
I
walked
to
the
starting
point
(a
fair
hike
from
my
hotel)
and
met
the
tour
guide
as
instructed.
When
the
tour
was
ready
to
start,
the
guide
insisted
that
we
produce
the
confirmation
of
our
booking
for
the
"Free
Tour"
on
our
cell
phones.
But
I
DON'T
OWN
A
CELL
PHONE,
and
was
told
by
the
guide
-
in
no
uncertain
terms
-
that
I
could
not
participate
in
the
Free
Walking
Tour!
How
crazy
is
that?
It's
a
Free
Tour
(yes,
tips
are
expected,
and
I
always
tip
generously
on
"Free
Tours"),
but
to
reject
someone
because
they
don't
own
a
cellphone
and
can't
produce
some
document
that,
in
the
previous
emails
I
received
from
All
About
Tours,
was
never
told
I
would
need
to
produce
at
the
start
of
the
tour?
One
would
assume
that
if
documentation
of
a
person's
enrollment
is
required
by
the
tour
operator,
their
guide
would
be
provided
with
a
list
of
registered
participants
by
the
tour
operator,
so
that
the
guide
could
reconcile
the
list
with
people
who
showed
up
for
the
walk.
Regardless,
I
could
understand
the
need
to
verify
ones
participation
if
this
was
a
Paid
Tour,
to
make
sure
that
everyone
had
indeed
paid
in
advance
for
their
participation.
But
for
a
Free
Tour?
What's
the
worst
that
could
happen?
Maybe
the
guide
gets
more
tips?
Crazy
Bad
Customer
Service.
