Hollywood Fish Farm in Albany has a good selection of small young aquarium fish, but not a huge selection, so be prepared that they may not have the species you are looking for, but you can probably find something similar if you are willing to compromise. Most of the fish on offer are very healthy, but I have occasionally seen some less healthy stock in there. They do occasionally have a very small selection of larger fish for sale, but it would be nice to see more larger specimens on offer. They also occasionally have turtles, amphibians and reptiles, if that's your thing. They also offer a fantastic range of tanks, filters, lights, pumps, chemicals, substrates and all the paraphernalia you could want for outdoor, indoor, cold, tropical, fresh and salt water setups. And then there's the great range of dried and frozen fish food products. The only real complaint I have is that they never replaced the large beautiful display tank that was such a draw card for customers. I used to love watching the fully grown fish cruising around in there, and there were always other customers mesmerized by it too. Such an inspiration, but now, sadly, a thing of the past. But the staff are still friendly, and highly knowledgeable on everything relevant to keeping fish and freely offer lots of great advice to help you on your journey.

After their amazing help setting up my fresh water pufferfish tank I came back to start my Marine tank journey. I spoke to an absolutely brilliant staff member on Saturday named Liam who went out of his way to teach me about many aspects of marine care and products and I left with some fantastic items to start my tank set up! He had a genuine interest in helping me and showing me how to give my future fish the best environment and care possible. I will definitely be returning to continue setting up my tank. His genuine care of the fish and their husbandry and willingness to show me, a beginner, was more than I could have asked for. I am looking forward to speaking with him again next time I am in, I would definitely recommend anyone interested in Marine keeping to speak with him :)

The shop was very busy on Saturday afternoon but the staff found time to help me get what I needed and quite knowledgeable about what I didn't consider. Really enjoyed seeing the live coral and saltwater setups!

Ordered fish online, made a mistake but Aaron from online orders was amazing and went above and beyond to sort out my mistake. All fish were being sent to the South Island and arrived very fast and were all in fanatic condition. Will definitely be ordering more fish online from these guys. Great service highly recommend.

Dude was super helpful, gave some solid advice and recommendations around compatibility, and bagged my fish up nice and secure in two separate bags after I explained we had a 5 hour drive ahead. Everyone survived the journey and are happily settling into their new home.

Great place very tidy. Great customer service very friendly however Just a small reminder to staff to have more knowledge and share information with the customer about the products. They are making an investment for the home and the lovely fish pets. When selling an aquarium tank staff should share enough info about it so customers can make the right choice Instead of spending 200 I could have spent 300 if I was advised the correct details about the aquarium. Would have given 5 stars if I was advised prior to buying the aquarium.

Our go to place for all things fishtank based. Friendly staff with some really clued up specialists. My son basically lives there since he started his fish tank. They have it all, tanks, fresh-water fish, saltwater fish, snails, filters, repair parts, all kinds of food, additives, sand, gravel, plants. If you need it, then Hollywood Fish Farm has it I am sure.

Axelotols are supposed to be kept in seperate tanks as they aren’t the most social animals… there were atleast 5-10 axelotols all jammed into tanks all missing legs because they have been fighting. if you don’t have enough room to cater for the animals while finding them homes don’t sell them. Cruel …. along with this there were several dead fish in tanks one even looked like it was decomposing shows how much they care for their animals wouldn’t give money to this place to support their mistreatment of animals

I contacted Hollywood Fish Farm as I was wanting a bulb for my fish pond filter. I ordered one. I wasn’t sure so sent an email explaining my situation. Received a phone call from them giving me the link to get the right one. As I’m a first time customer, I was so happy with the service.I give them 100%.

The team at Hollywood Fish Farm Albany (Specially Sam) always go above and beyond. I was coming in from far away and Sam offered to wait after closing in her car with my purchase to hand it over. That is what I call service! The team is always very helpful and knowledgably and they all seem to enjoy working there as they are always smiling. I sometimes go there even when I don't need things.

I always love going to Hollywood Fish Farm Albany. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. I have never had a bad experience. Fish are healthy and they stock just about everything you need for fish keeping. They were able to source me an original light for my outdated reef tank. So appreciate the time they took to help. 😀

Absolutely terrible customer service and totally unreasonable m. We purchased a mister for our tortoise It wasn't cheap! It stopped working and we took it back to get a replacement in its original box We were questioned about purchase date and they wouldn’t replace it because we didn’t have the docket. It is the sort of product that could have only be purchased from them This is totally unacceptable. If the customer is genuine and the product is faulty, replace it. We will be telling all and everyone of our bad experience and recommend you find an alternative retailer for your purchases.

Good service, reasonable prices. The range of goldfish was a bit wiped out, probably being close to Christmas and a few tanks of the goldfish weren't looking super healthy but hopefully all okay.

Ian at the Albany store provided exceptional customer service. He helped us arrive at the decision to buy our Juwel tank setup and has provided advise on every aspect of our setup. On my return to the store to purchase plants etc he greeted me by my surname as soon as i walked in. It can sometimes be the small things that make you go out of your way to buy from again and i will.

Andrew from holly wood fish farm is amazing! Super positive and happy, also has great advice and shares lots of passion towards his job. Was just on the phone to him and asked if I could come see him in person for some advice on a fish but told me he wouldn’t be in tomorrow but still kindly recommended someone else but I told him that I would come a different day to make sure he would be able to help me out as I think he has amazing customer service! :)

The pump in our garden pond had stopped working and needed replacing. I was concerned that with no circulation the pond would soon begin to stagnate. I rang Hollywood Fish Farm to confirm the model availability and placed my order on-line, albeit very late on a Wednesday afternoon. I was prepared to have to wait for a Saturday delivery (at best). To my delight, the pump arrived on Friday afternoon and was soon installed! I want to commend Hollywood Fish Farm for their prompt and effective response, backed up in their warehouse and by the courier services. An easy company to deal with and an excellent product!

The staff at the Albany store know what they're talking about, and actually care about fish. The variety of stock - both live and not - is impressive, even if it's a little pricey. Freshwater fish are generally healthy, plants are kept in good shape, tanks look good overall. It's a shame the marine/reef section is so incredibly small, but it's adequate. Unfortunately, the store is always, always, always busy whenever I have visited, no matter the day. This means that you often have to wait by the counter for about 10-15 minutes before someone is free to help you. It's not their fault, but it does mean that it's rarely a quick trip in-and-out. That said, NONE of the other aquarium stores I've been to around Auckland - including the other Hollywood Fish Farm - have been anywhere near the expertise and engagement of this store.

I absolutely LOVE this place. The staff are amazing and the range there is amazing. The quality of fish is great! The aquatic plants are so lush. Postage and process seamless. Highly highly recommend Hollywood fish farm.

Great experience when visiting the store to view terrarium enclosures over the weekend. Great selection on display, with accessories to boot. Ordered through them online. Everything showed up as it should. But took 3 weeks. Plants that were sent out, were in flower, and not viable plants to take root in an aquarium. Not sure if I will be using them again for shipping livestock. However they do have a good range on medications, foods, and tank related stuff. Which I would recommend them for

Absolutely the best place for all your fish and tank accessories. The staff I dealt with had amazing knowledge and explained everything clearly to someone who is new to the hobby. Bonus, the store had items for fish tanks I have not seen in other stores. Even sell live coral for those venturing into what I would assume is more advanced fish tank setups

I've been blown away by the service from the online customer service team. And I didn't get what I wanted, but not because of Hollywood. My lesson from this is buy from Hollywood. Might cost a little more but the back up and service make it better value for money. Great company and great team

Customer service was great but unfortunately I had bought some unhealthy tadpoles which have died within the week of buying them. I was told it would be parasites or birth defects that caused them to look and act abnormally (unbalanced, skinny, didn’t swim/ eat/ or poo). I know tadpoles have a high death rate so I don’t want to discredit Hollywood Fish Farm but even the staff at Animates recommended against this store as it’s apparently known to sell “unhealthy” animals. I have raised tadpoles before and I didn’t even have enough time to name them before I realised that they were going to die.
