We arrived at 5pm and were immediately advised we had to get what we wanted and to essentially get out within 15min even though the website clearly stated close was at 6pm. The staff member was very rude and again reminded us 10min later at 5:10 we had 3 minutes to pick what we wanted. We were there to buy expensive fish and made sure we arrived with what we thought was ample time. The whole time the staff were ringing up our order she was huffing and puffing in the background very impatient and desperate to get out of there. We left at 5:30 feeling very unwelcome and disgusted by her lack of professionalism. Wont be back.

I bought a UV light for a fish tank and used it in a small 21 liter tank. Eleven days, the green water has not changed. There is only green water in this fish tank, no fish and other creatures, and no lights are turned on for 24 hours. Took it in for a return and the salesman told me to try it for another week, which usually took longer to make a difference. Such unprofessional remarks are so disappointing.

Was really excited to go fish shopping after setting up a cool new tank but my excitement was over pretty fast after standing watching customers who arrived after me being served first. No staff smiled or showed any friendliness or desire to help me. Eventually a guy assisted but I felt like I was being an annoyance the entire time. I decided to go to Animates straight after and the service was so different. Lovely friendly guy who was super helpful and said he's had a lot of customer feedback about people's bad experiences at Hollywood. Very sad that we customers pay your bills and these are the experiences people are having. Mine is not a one-off either based on others I've read

Always happy healthy fish, fresh stock, young fish. Some fish, just have to take a gamble, but I lost the gamble in the past, all female, not colourful. Careful about buying adult fish on short life span fish. The staff could do with better attitudes, is it the owner who is not looking after them? Every staff is sad, didn't want to be there, some were ok but it feels like they were afraid to be happy or they were just pretending to be happy. Fish health +5 star Staff health -0 star

Knowledgeable, reliable information and good branded products. Good variety of fish species. Dont forget to ask which fish can live together in the same tanks. When you buy electrical equipment make sure you get an account so they can keep track of your purchases, unfortunately I did not from day 1 and lost out on a heater warranty because I did not have my receipt, my fault.

Used to love this place, but was sold a fish that died under 2 weeks of having it and kept the tank well. Brought it to the shop but they wouldn't refund or exchange even with the receipt. Spent over $100 and thought they were a professional fish shop that would test the water and exchange as this fish was $40

Excellent, friendly and extremely helpful staff. I got two goldfish a couple of days ago from the Mount Roskill store. One of them started chasing around one other big goldfish in my tank. Spoke to the staff and produced a video to get some advice from them. They happily swapped the goldfish for another as in their opinion they thought the likely cause might have been a male female issue.Their store is highly recommended for all pet fish needs and their service.

Totally loved this place! They have an amazing selection of fresh and tropical fish with all the plants, food, and systems you need to set up happy fish. Would 1000% recommend and am already looking forward to coming back!

Hollywood Fish Farm staff have a wealth of knowledge and are always happy to help. With their support I have progressed from my first small tank to my new large fresh water community tank and a marine tank. Their Delivery service meant I didn’t have to organise a third party to get my tank home.

this is my son Joot, got him from hollywood fish farm and I also get most of my stuff there :D they're super fast, and frozen food and other things come packaged with Styrofoam and their delivery is super quick! He's very happy and healthy and I couldn't have asked for a better new friend

Quality advice and happy to answer my follow-up questions when I got home, too My fish are all happy and living their best lives. Purchased 3 x Angel's and 4 x guppies (for separate tanks) breeding net drift wood, filters, and stones. Plenty of variety and stock available 😀

The service is exceptional. The staff are knowledgeable and very helpful even qeeks after. We have called them several times to ask questions, and they have been very thorough. Theres two siblings that work there (I forget their names), but these two are so good at their job, and you can see it in the way they care of the animals. The sister spent about 40 minutes giving me very detailed instructions while I wrote it down. Not once was she irritated at all my questions. These people are passionate about what they do, and it shows. I have been a loyal member for a few decades now, and I'll be recommending these guys to anyone and everyone. They have a decent range of product. Truthfully, these guys are well stocked, and the product they have is the best for the animals there. Again, I highly recommend Hollywood Fish Farm.

Popped in today to buy a plant and investigate adding some tank mates in for my 5yo’s goldfish (Sushi & Rainbow). What an experience - staff are absolutely awesome - I learned so much more about looking after my fish. Excellent experience and although a bit of a drive this is where I’ll go for all my aquarium needs going forward!

First time in my life I could not buy something though we are happy to pay. Came there and was advised that I need to test to make sure the tank is in-cycle. So I bought some small fishes, baceria, and a test kit. We followed their instruction and my tank was perfect for the fishes as I have already used a used filter for a week. We came back after a couple of day to buy some more fishes, but the guy who advised us last time told his work mate not to sell fishes for us, so she said we could not buy and need to wait for the tank to be in cycle. As a business owner I find that so stupid because first, even if the fishes die we would come back and buy more so that means more sales for them. And second, we can buy any where else if they don't sell to us. Worst staff, will never come back.

Thank you to Sophie who was amazing yesterday with helping my 9 year old son and I to figure out what type and how many fish we could have in the tank he was gifted. Sophie also went above and beyond to explain water testing, feeding, oxygen plants etc. You are a real asset to Hollywood Fish Farm. Thanks again!

This is one of the best places to go no matter your level in fishkeeping, every staff member is helpful, approachable and very knowledgable. All fish tanks are clean and all fish are healthy, 10/10 would recommend, the ONLY place I go for my fish!

Nice little shop with lots inside. Sea tank's, tropical tank's and cold water tank's. Such interactive fish too. Betta fish are my favourite. I'll be needing to come in for a new light bulb, mine just went pop. Tank's are keeped clean and the shop is tidy. Everything has price's, so no guess work.

Love shopping here for my aquarium supplies. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable too!

As total beginners, building a fish tank for our son, it was great to discover this place. They have everything you might need, from starter kits to a great variety of advanced stuff! Most importantly, they have amazing staff, who would talk you through, help with advice and even happily answer all the questions a 7-year-old might have 😁

Went there to get goldfish,but the prices were astronomical,went to the one in hamilton a few weeks ago,normal prices there,twice as much at mt rokel

Fantastic place to find equipment, livestock and advice. Staff here are very knowledgable and take time to both help me through selecting the equipment and then later my 5yo to guide him in choosing appropriate fish. Highly recommended.

Worst place and worst people to deal with. The Manager there does not know how to talk to his customer. I do not know his name His attitude stinks. I still go there as it is close to my place. I wish some new management buy the business or the owner hire some professionals

It's a great little hidden treasure.. Staff was great, especially Kylie, who advised us to go to their other shops like in Albany and Hamilton. Due to the restriction that Auckland City Counsel has set. But we were overall happy with the service and decided to go to the Hamilton store. Kylie had not only searched up the Address she also rang them... So, a MASSIVE, THANK YOU TO THE TEAM IN ROSKILL.
