Awesome local fish shop. They have a stunning Asian Arowana in the window which is definitely something to check out. The owner Cam is really friendly and helped me out in buying these discus. You can tell he cares about the fish and wants to see them in good homes. I can't wait to have these beauties on display in my home ! We'll be back for sure

Exceptional range of fish and plants! The staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Cam also runs an incredibly interesting YouTube channel and blog which covers a lot of the basics which is helpful to a newbie like me. Overall an amazing shop and definitely worth the visit!

If I could give a 0 star review I literally would!! We trusted these guys to ship our fish and our poor fish was dead on arrival. They didn’t pack the fish properly at all, when we received it the box it was packed in was wet and there were flies in the water??? Truly disgusting. When we opened the bucket which was packed with lose clear tape the water smelt like raw fish and we knew he was not alive. Please don’t get your fish shipped from here, it’s not worth it and they don’t even give you a refund? Still shocked from this service…

He will explain their needs and help adjust the conditions or find an alternative, so you can trust his recommendations. Don't be fooled by the shop's size - it may not be big, but like a true gem, it holds great value. If you don't see dozens of fish food brands on the shelves, it's because there isn't a big corporation backing him, and he chooses to offer only a select few that will truly keep your fish healthy and happy. If you can't find a fish you're after, ask Cam to source it for you, and he'll do his utmost. Moreover, he provides installation and aquarium maintenance services for both businesses and individuals, showcasing his passion through the quality of his work. It's always delightful to see the continuous improvements he makes to the shop. It's a great place to visit with kids and admire Penny the Arowana, colorful African cichlids, not to mention the axolotls! There are plenty of interesting finds for both novices and experienced aquarists (fishkeepers and aquascapers alike). Additionally, The Aquarium Project has a YouTube channel and podcast that help promote the hobby in New Zealand and share local tips.

When I needed someone to help relocate two planted tanks (280L and 80L) with 32 fish the Aquarium Project offered to help. Great communicators, the project went well. All fish and plants quickly recovered and the tanks look even better than they did before.

I've only ever purchased things online, however the staff are extremely kind/patient and knowledgeable and always willing to help out! they really know their stuff :) I needed a new fert for my aquatic plants and they have some lovely decorations in store too! Huge recommend

I wanted to buy an axolotl and The Aquarium Project helped me throughout the entire set up process, from filter selection to building a custom aquarium stand. One of the noteworthy service they provide is the aquarium installation/maintenance service. The Aquarium Project sent a team over to help install the tank and teach me about tank maintenance. Would highly recommend for other new hobbyist wanting to get into fish keeping!

After decades in the obsession, I decided I was too old to keep running several tanks, but then this guy set up shop just up the road. I managed to deny the temptation to pop in each time I passed until one day I needed gravel to refurb a terrarium set up... Now I have a water garden inside, and a lotus pot outside and I suspect another tank isn't far away. I blame Cam completely. If he hadn't been so good about getting me the perfect gravel...

Amazing fish shop that goes beyond the typical to demonstrate well established aquaria, and into the more advanced species. Cam is a straight up fella who is here to advance fish keeping, not solely make a dollar. His advice is valuable!

Definitely our favorite place to find beautiful fish. Cam is amazing, so generous with both his time and knowledge. Highly recommend talking to Cam if you want a custom made tank too, we got exactly what we wanted at a reasonable price. The Aquarium Project is well worth a visit every time.

I have shopped at this store nothing is a problem Cam taught me how to do my water tests. He also came out and installed my new filter that I was having trouble doing myself. I recommend this store to anyone

shipping was very poorly executed and plants arrived destroyed. raised issue and they seemed to just give a standard reply with very little actual concern about the issue. I suggested easy cheap solutions to future shipping methods, and got the same basic reply, will not use again.

I Was looking for a breeding bristlenose pleco, they reached out to me and I purchased a beautiful female. All the tanks look great and have no unhealthy/dead stock unlike what iv seen in several other pet/fish stores around the Auckland area. Super neat little store. I’ll be recommending them to others for sure.
