Want to connect with the wind and water in Auckland? Alan and his team at Mad Loop are the best! Alan taught me to windsurf 17 years ago when we were here for the America's Cup - I was in the harness and foot-straps in no time enjoying heaps of amazing days on the water. Now, I am learning to wing foil and it is so much fun!! Alan's enthusiasm for wind sports and knowledge of technique and equipment is world-class and, as always, he is right out in front of the curve with foiling and wing sailing. Highly recommend!

Alan and the Madloop team are professional and fun. They got this elephant foiling and now I tell all my mates to come here. For any beginner, please just call these guys and book lessons. You’ll get up and along faster by mowing the mechanics earlier.. highly recommended!

Great experience. Wanted to try winging, and try I did!! Very welcoming and great instruction. Out on the water and into it after a great briefing from Tristan and constant tips and technique corrections definitely makes it invaluable money well spent if your looking to get into it as a sport. Thanks Roger

Today my Girlfriend and I went for a Stand Up Paddleboard on a calm day at Lake Pupuke through Madloop. We had an awesome time just cruising along enjoying the scenery and beautiful day! What surprised us the most about our experience today was how many young children were out on the water learning how to windsurf or sail! We felt very safe paddling between the beginners as they all had their own personal trainer beside or behind them, teaching them where to go, what to do or what to keep an eye on. I even managed to snap some stressful photos on my phone whilst on the water. There was plenty of parking so getting there was a breeze, just make look out for the park entrance (I have attached a photo of it to this review). Additionally there are toilets right next to the parks in case you forget to go beforehand!

This is the best place to learn windsurfing. I'm taking classes here. The trainers are super friendly, they will clearly tell you what you have to improve. Reasonably priced for class.

Alan is the man to learn windsurfing from in Auckland. He offers excellent value with his lessons and continues to be surrounded by a strong community of ex-student foilers and windsurfers; which is a testiment to him and his school. I have nothing but good things to say as Alan continues to offer me advice nearly a year after my lessons finished.

Alan and his team are really friendly and helpful. Rental is cheap and lessons are really good value, with discounts if you bulk buy. The lake has a good range of wind and will suit most levels depending the weather on a particular day. The fresh water lake is warm in the summer and autumn (not been their in the winter or spring yet). Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to get in to Windsurfing or sailing, or anyone wanting to improve their skills.

Alan is highly experienced and truly passionate about his windsurfing. He is really helpful and will always provide appropriate equipment. His teaching staff are also super friendly and know exactly what they are doing. Oh, and very reasonably priced too.

Alan and his team on Lake Pupuke are amazing! For a complete wing foiling novice, their approach to teaching and patience has made the whole process so easy. All I had to do was show up and Alan’s team took care of the rest. Highly recommended!

Mad Loop is the best place to learn all wind water sports. I've been coming here for almost 20 years and now my kids are all learning here too. Alan is an asset to the community, bringing the joy of the outdoors to so many people who may never have got the opportunity to otherwise. He caters for absolute beginners and the more experienced who just want to get the wind in their hair for a few hours. Get out there!

I was in Auckland for a day during my NZ vacation and i wanted to give wingfoil a quick shot . Allan set me right up with the gear and gave me a quick lesson on the wing. Caleb was my instructor for the session and he got me through the basics quickly. I was able to catch some wind and make my basic tacks and gybes right away. Had a great time here and would definitely go for it again 🤙

Awesome school to get started with, in my case, wing foiling. Alan and team are great, friendly, responsive and expert teachers. Highly recommended.

During my honeymoon in New Zealand, I wanted to rent a small sailboat with my husband, because it's something we both loved in childhood. Madloop is probably the only place in the country where you can do this. Alan was super helpful setting the laser for us (and putting it away) and provided us with wetsuits. He answered all our questions and we were comfortable he would come out and get us if something went wrong (which it didn't). We had an amazing time! I would definitely recommend contacting Madloop if you want to captain your own 1-2 person sailboat in New Zealand.
